This was snail mail (the, uh, loose papers bit mostly precludes email, incidentally), not even addressed to me personally :P

It's not so much weird as the consequence of the shits making those arguments largely being the exact same people, I think. Transfolk are being targeted with the exact same arguments that were aimed at LGB demographics because the fuckers doing it pretty much lost the fight on that part of the spectrum, and they're as unimaginative as they are hateful. When they target the next group the old crap just gets recycled.

The sad thing is it seems to be getting more traction, probably just because there's so many fewer trans people. LGB are common enough interactions with them once they started coming out the closet en masse became something you'd easily trip over. T (or enby, or whatever)... not nearly as much. Makes getting a picture of them as just another neighbor more difficult.

Make no mistake, though, prior to decades of dedicated effort by LGBT folks, the sentiment against LGB was every bit as hateful and bitter as it is against trans now. Again, it's largely the same fuckers behind it, the vitriol and violence they spit back then is exactly what they're spitting now, it was just against a less vulnerable target :-\

E: It really does probably need to be mentioned again, but the reaction in the old days to stateside LGBT demographics was also genocide, just with an even higher (so far, anyway) body count. The AIDs pandemic was very, very pointedly ignored back then expressly so it would rip a black line of death through the LGBT population -- and it did. That wasn't done unknowingly, it was active malice directed against the gays, and to hell with whatever got caught as collateral. The way history rhymes is fucking depressing sometimes.

... y'know, it's a small thing, but when I use gods as an invocation, it's shorthand for "nonexistent gods". It's a small measure of probably unappreciated respect to all those religious folks that say not to use god's name in vain, or holds there's a certain number or sort of divinity. Can't be tripping over something like that if you're talkin' 'bout the ones (which ones? Whichever ain't!) that ain't there!

Well... if the color hell is intentional, let it be known window's high contrast mode poos on your intent and makes the entire thing look more or less reasonable, heh. You're not in lacking company on that one, though, basically no one designs websites around accessibility options.

Idle curiosity got me to open some vacation shilling junkmail, shortly turned morbid curiosity as I looked through it. Bundle of loose papers, maybe 20-30 pages of the stuff, pictures, etc. Kinda' lazy shit on the face of it, basically

Thing that stood out more than that, though: There was one (1) asian couple shown. Every single other person in those pictures was white. Even the ones in crowded foreign locals. Between them all, probably 70-80 individual people were shown, from a rough eyeball, maybe up to a hundred. All but two were white, with all of one meaningful tan between the lot of 'em.

And I'm just like. Tell me you have problems without telling me you have problems, spam mail senders.

Theoretically there's a few of them in north america (one in canada, few in the US), though most of the still existent ones seem to be more a joke than anything serious. I kinda' like the Nation of Celestial Space, though, as a concept if nothing else -- it was founded as an attempt to lay claim to everything that isn't earth, in order to prevent any country from trying to hold hegemony over outer space.

... less directly, it's emblematic of the sort of libertarian nonsense that gets people run out of towns by bears, which is unfortunately more influential in US politics than it would be were the world reasonable or just.

Those people shed massive amounts of blood for you.
They also had massive, massive problems. The forces we were propping up over there were so sodding bad popular support was shifting towards the bloody taliban by the time we started to withdraw, due to corruption and incompetence on a scale they were somehow making those shits look good in comparison -- and then, despite everything that was done and spent in support of it, those defense forces basically folded like a house of cards. There's blame to be shared, however much blood was shed.

... though the vast, vast majority of the blame is on the US, mind. We should have never occupied the place to begin with, nevermind persistently fucking up the decades afterwards.

There's probably some working extensions for it on firefox at a minimum, but I'm... not sure I could link to one, considering the forum's rules on piracy and whatnot? Functioning or not they tend to be questionably legal, iirc.

... that said, though I can't remember the actual title of the software, from what I recall there's some kind (maybe more than one?) of 3rd party video editing software that comfortably DLs youtube stuff, and I think bypasses some of the legal issues involved, somehow or another. It's been years since the last time I looked at it, and things may have changed on several fronts since then, though.

Not from a starting point of actual transgendered athletes who take hormones because of their earnest need but from the perspective of bad faith actors who might use it to cheat under the protection of a medical label, like the Norwegians do with asthma.
See, this is one of those things I'd say would make more sense to worry about if it had, like. Ever? Ever. If it had ever happened. As far as I'm aware there has currently been exactly zero (0) cases of someone faking transitioning to get access to relevant hormones for a competitive advantage in sports. It's not entirely unreasonable to worry about specific expressions of bad faith, but it kinda' is unreasonable to worry about nonexistent ones, y'know?

Y'know, I had wondered about those when watching some gameplay vids. It looked to me like you needed to come back while nuts or something after they stopped moving instead of it just being timed, and if it really is just timed that's totally a missed opportunity. That's 100% a questline that could stand to, at minimum, branch, with time giving one reward and dealing with the unrestful dead a second, if it didn't just require you to go the humming stone route entirely.

Statue of limitations applies to the start of the investigation, not the time of indictment. It's clear even for a misdemeanor, far as I've noticed. There's been a fair amount of reporting that there's quite a lot more going on than a single misdemeanor charge, though.

New wrinkle: Trump could just stay in Florida, and New York couldn't touch him.
There's pretty much zero chance of this, though, even if trump decides not to cooperate. The extradition stuff on the books predates deshitis and is still in effect, asshole's bloviating and both can't and won't stop the USSS from hauling trump up north if it comes to that. The only wrinkle is governor shitheel grifting a bit, which is less wrinkle than "it's a day of the week ending in y".

also, spending three hours a day on the phone with someone is just hard.
That... that would rapidly drive me to suicide, I think, or something similarly extreme. I start chafing if I'm on the phone for more than like 10 minutes, 3 hours a day repeatedly would drive me up several different kinds of walls. Hopefully that'll clear up on the quick for you, yikes.

I got it a while back, and while I very much enjoyed it at first, it started getting samey and unenjoyable after a bit. YMMV, but it didn't really feel like it evolved at all as the game went on.
Echo-ish that, though I think some of the DLC work changes that up a bit? Even base game felt like it was worth... whatever it was I paid for it, years ago, in any case. Deffo worth free.

... though minor caveat, I didn't like the... oxygen or energy or whatever mechanic it used to put a clock on individual runs, so I did yeet that mess out of my life with cheat engine when I played. I don't think it's a detriment to the game, per se, and plenty of folks probably enjoy the constraint/resource management involved, but, like. I bloody hate food clocks and will beat them over the head with a memory editing tire iron very rapidly and with no regret, so.

Didn't you hear him say that he's "the most innocent man in the history of the united states"?
I mean, have you seen our legal code? Even if that was true, he'd still probably be guilty of enough things to tally up to a life sentence :V
