Keep in mind: this was literally the last case anybody who has been following his legal issues expected to go this far.

The legal theory involved is untested, and depends on proving he knew it was illegal and was done to influence his campaign, both are difficult to prove.
Just noticed this, but I think this is at least partially untrue? Part of what's on the line in regards to the hush money is an airtight misdemeanor charge -- as in, "both trump and some of his legal crew has already confessed to it on record" level of airtight.

The iffier bit is whether it can or cannot be escalated into a felony, from what I understand, and if it is possible, the evidence and legal path for it isn't nearly as public facing and obvious. At a base level the man's absolutely, 100%, provably with publicly available information, guilty of crimes in relation to the hush money payment. The whole of that case might be untested, but part of it is ironclad; if there's not some kind of settlement/plea deal, there's pretty damn certain to be a criminal conviction, if maybe not a felony one.

They appear to be talking about pipe cleaning, fairly obviously?

I dont think we will ever jail a former president.  But this is where precedents are set
The indictment itself is a precedent, if I'm not misremembering. There's two or three more major cases currently ongoing, iirc (document theft mess, georgia election interference, coup attempt) that may see similar action due to this happening.

It'll definitely be interesting (possibly in the curse sense) to see what happens next, though, that's for sure. Conviction would almost certainly be healthier for the country in the long run, but the short might get kinda' messy.

and ninja'd, but eh.

It can affect bone structure, iirc. Quick double-check confirms it. Exactly how and to what extent depends on what's involved with the specific individual. Depends primarily on what hormones are involved and when they're applied, near as I can tell.

Hormone therapy can do that even when it's being used for reasons other than gender affirming care, for that matter. Estrogen can strengthen bones, ferex, and is part of some contraceptive methods or menopause treatment. HRT's just one use of hormones out of several, and it's not like being used for something else somehow magically makes it function differently, y'know?

I'm... not sure why it'd be relevant? Folks of all chromosomes end up with irregular numbers of ribs, and even non-LGBT folks occasionally get some removed for reasons varied. Rib count isn't strictly indicative of much of anything on its own.

From what I’ve seen, open-source game development in general seems to be a drama magnet.
Honestly, it seems like game development period is? The difference between open-source and not is that the former is pretty much per-force open to the public, whereas the latter's mess often happens more behind closed (and courtroom >_>) doors.

I'd probably lay good bets it's actually worse in private development where we mostly can't see it, just due to how staggeringly toxic the work environments are in a lot of studios. Between corporate, crunch, and often low pay, you got a sewage pool of neurosis stewing. There is no way in hell that doesn't cause massive amounts of drama.

I mean, have you seen the song of solomon? I wouldn't be so quick to say smut wasn't intended.

This was the best soccer game I've ever played :V

... i mean, i think it's also the only soccer game i've ever played, but still.

I think the better question might be how did they get here?
Amusingly enough, the obvious answer for either setting being discussed is "warp drive accident".

Without looking, it is almost certainly the Tucker Carleson crowd. Not necessarily him (though I would not be surprised), but that wing of the wingnuts that keeps trying to double-down on the Culture War despite increasing evidence that they're losing said culture war.
Nah, it was explicitly him, at least in part. Forget the exact details 'cause I let that sack of shit sit in my head as little as reasonably possible, but he was definitely banging on that general drum in the last little bit.

Anyway, the most literal answer is "Star Wars/WH40k crossovers", of which I found 93 from a quick check of fanfiction.net. There's probably more elsewhere, for that matter.

There's no such thing as a "national referendum" in the US. There's no mechanism to create one, and if one were somehow to be carried out it would have no legal power and thus be meaningless. It is as sensible a suggestion as saying that the President of Britain should undo Brexit by Executive Order.
Eeehhh... constitutional amendments are pretty close to it? Or at least about the closest thing in sentiment we've got to one.

The concept of one of those going well on any front at the moment is a bad joke, though.

Interstate compacts might be a close second, I guess.

Oh hey ng, didn't notice you were back. Hope things are going alright.

Anyway, folks are mentioning the trans bit because it was mentioned by the cops involved (which lends it negative credibility on the face of it, but still), and is likely to cause murderous backlash even if untrue. It'd be remarkable regardless if for no other reason than how rare it is -- the huge majority of mass shooters are very much not transfolk, even with a steadily escalating genocide campaign being ginned up against them.

It absolutely is correct the shooting itself is more important, though. I just think most of us are pretty resigned to exactly fuckall being done on that front. One wing of our political landscape doesn't have the power to force much through, and the other wing is, well, trying to legalize open carry in florida and whatnot.

What it will take for things to change when it comes to gun control and the mitigation of events like this is for american conservatism to be broken as a political movement. Until the GOP and their ilk can no longer prevent positive change on that front, it will not happen, and the regularity of the incidences in question will largely either not budge or escalate. There's not really anything else sufficient to make the problem budge.
