Publicly, no, not many GOP politicians are going to stand up to bannon. If they come out for, too hard, people are going to remember and -- as noted earlier -- bannon is the sort of critter that even a lot of the republican base isn't entirely comfortable acknowledging. If they denounce, well, you just affronted someone that's now close to the oval office and has the support of a smaller but louder (and notably more likely to shoot you, for what that's worth) chunk of your base, too. There's basically not really a win condition for closer to center (if in nothing but demeanor) GOP politicians when it comes to folks like bannon, particularly when they're in a position with much power. So they're probably going to stay pretty mellow on that front, if I had to take a guess.

Now, the GOP being weaselly little shits they are, there's all sorts of things that could turn that guess on its head. Trump screws up enough and public opinion turns on him hard, you're more likely to see some noise towards the alt-right & co shitheels. It actually turns out he's not a disaster and somehow or another what he's been saying he wants to do works, or he manages to 180 on it hard enough without the base revolting on him, and sentiment actually starts rising, then you're probably going to see politicians warm up to the guys in question. Somewhere in between, where things go as expected but folks aren't as quick to get pissed about it, things'll stay about the same. Tbh, so far as the US right goes, that second one is probably our worst outcome. Further normalization of that sort of conservative and more expressing of their voice and messages is a distinct loss for just about anyone approaching sane in this country.

Do I just feel obligated because I already spent a few days on it?
More likely is that the writing and whatnot, y'know. Improved? Over the years it's been running. It's a thing that occasionally happens with works like that.

So it could have sunk him like a few tons of ballast, huh. Sounds about right.

8854
Huh. Just noticed the thing with sanders and the nuclear waste dumping. Anyone done the work to check to see if it's legit, yet?

Because if it was, damn. Running him might have actually straight up lost the hispanic vote.

8855
...Damn. I had thought things might cool down after this election, but it's looking like they might just keep escalating. :/
Oh you. Things don't even really get started until a month or two into 2017. What you're seeing now is the pre-game show.

Though that said, the scenario of the gov't cutting federal funding for these places and them deciding to, say, reciprocate by not paying taxes... it's outlandish fantasy, and it would be ruinous for the country, but it's oddly enticing as a thought. You almost want to actually see it, just for that few moments of gazing into the eye of pure absurdity. You don't actually want to, because holy hell, but still. It's a shiny thought.

I remind you about the nascent distaste for urbanites in rural areas. If trump moved that way, it would be RADICALLY popular in much of the US.
... if by much, you mean a fraction of less than half, I guess. For all there's a lot of antipathy out here for cityfolk, shit like that would still turn a hell of a lot of people off. There's only so much you can fuck with so many american citizens before even their countrymen that don't particularly like them start getting pissed off. Especially considering plenty of people out here still got family in one or more of those cities, due to that whole sizable chunk of the US population thing. Full federal cut for sanctuary metropolitan areas wouldn't fly even in the boonies, by and large. Some places, maybe, but most, not so much.

8858
Of course, for some folks, that's more feature than bug... :-\

Oh god, they hired a corporate synergy manager.
Either that or someone in the organization got drunk enough to start thinking like one.

That said, seriously ree, you probably need to not be linking/hotlinking that site and those images. Even above possible ToS violations, we have german posters and that stuff can cause 'em some trouble. Y'might not have to, but courtesy and all that. Cheers, ree.

Too much trouble, mostly. Also yeah, that's pretty normal. Immigration, marijuana, guns, whatever social issue conservative politicians have shoved their head up their ass about this week, the list can get pretty lengthy.

Yes to the first, no to the second. Sometimes a bit of a "poor bastard" sentiment, but I don't care about names nearly enough to feel bad for folks stuck with odd ones.

It was the worst book about brain damaged puppy antics I've never read. None of the characters survived the first chapter. Half their corpses didn't make it past the second. Don't think too hard about what happened in the third and subsequent ones.

"Tellingly, however, the magicians are staunchly silent on whether what was in their pipes was capable of existing in physical reality last week."

Bad person is one of the more catchall terms. Subhuman would probably work, too. Degenerate, probably a few more along those lines. Delinquent doesn't quite fit, bit too neutral.

Criminal fits, too, especially considering the usage of illegal there, heh. Part of me almost wondered if insistence on using that terminology once in office might not bite someone in the ass. Plenty of unauthorized immigrants would love being able to grab onto due process.
