Damn. Looks like some folks that spend a lot of time in locker rooms weren't happy with that comparison. Not exactly surprised, but that's definitely the most aggressive condemnation I've seen so far, which is... impressive, in its own way.

Other Games / Re: Its called "AI War: Fleet Command"

... but yeah, if you're getting used to the game you probably want to just forget the warheads exist. It's fairly unlikely you're going to be able to leverage them well enough it's worth the AIP troubles until you have a pretty good idea of what you're doing.

Or after, really. Conceptually they're good at busting into/through key systems or AI buildups, but in practice they're usually a poisoned apple. Looks pretty, tastes good, causes your liver to implode and suffer spontaneous existence failure several minutes later.

Personally, I think the best luck I've had with them is in last-push core assaults, for breaking through key systems before slamming into the AI homeworld. And luck is used pretty intentionally, not the least of reasons being that if it doesn't work, you might as well quit because you're not coming back from notable warhead usage. That said, I haven't exactly used them much, for, uh. Reasons that should be obvious at this point >_>

Mm... for what it's worth, if push comes to shove there's probably some kind of print service or whathaveyou in the area that'd do the scut work for you. But yeah, it takes a fair chunk of time, especially if you're not interested in mutilating the book in the process.

Yeah, they're adorable. Also note their genetics, though. It's the punchline.

Would trump even have the authority to do that?
He could tell the attorney general to do it, which is the specific wording used during the debate. What happens from there is out of his power.

The interesting thing is that congress also has the power to appoint a special prosecutor. Considering how likely it is trump will break the law in short order if he does get in office, and how rapidly he's been burning every bridge he can reach, that might not be a barrel of monkeys he wants to let loose. Especially if the dems make the gains it's looking a lot like they're going to (thanks to trump's shit :V) in the house et al.

And that's not huffpo, LW. That's one of the blog things they host. It's roughly as credible as the left nut of the tortoiseshell cat that hangs around outside my house.

It was during the debate, yes. Specifically appoint a "special prosecutor" to see clinton put in prison.

General Discussion / Re: Things that made you go "WTF?" today o_O

Y'know, after having something similar involving misplaced keys, I can recommend labeling. It's harder to confuse keys when they've got something on them explicitly saying which vehicle they go to.

Interesting news, though. Apparently the RNC's outright gone dark -- not responding to calls, attempts at communication, nothing. They're supposed to have some kind of call whatsit around 5-ish in one timezone or another, but... yeah. Could be a sight to see when they come out of it. Going to be a spectacle regardless. More of one, anyway.

For what it's worth, this looks like a decent resource to use to find some programs for batch image to pdf stuff. Can't name a decent one of the top of my head, since it's not really something I've worked much with, but there's definitely stuff out there.

I... think so? Probably take some time, and it might not work strictly because of the amount, but I'm pretty sure it's at least possible.

There's definitely more specialized software for book conversion, though.

I mean, I guess alternate means of funding could be acquired. I'd be mildly impressed if someone could say that with a straight face, though.

9537
Like, can we make office drones obsolete the way we did with farmhands when the combine harvester was invented?
Dunno about neural networks, but we've definitely been automating away office drones. Have ever since automated phone stuff started getting implemented, never mind office and database software and whatnot.

Oh, that... is a startlingly good point, actually. I'm still uneasy with the idea of a mandate to buy something on general principle, but perhaps I'll have to do a bit more research before I formulate a definite opinion.
Yeah, most goods or services it's not something you should even start to consider. Startlingly bad idea for most markets -- it's fair to be leery of it, in a general sense. Some, though (like, in this case, health care), it's significantly more likely to be on the table and reasonable to pursue. Not all goods are equal, and not all of them work the same way when it comes to stuff like market forces.

It'd be nice if we could recognize that humanity is not made up entirely of asexual robots who perfectly follow acceptable protocol 24/7. There are a lot of different types of people out there, and just because you have not personally experienced cultures which acknowledge their baser nature and express themselves unabashedly, does not mean that those cultures do not exist.
... fol, I'm probably one of the people on this forum that's come closest to catching a ban or mute over the years for lascivious discussion without actually having it happen. And as I noted repeatedly, I have in fact been around a lot of people expressing themselves unabashedly. There are a lot of different people out there, and a-freaking-gain, those who express shit like trump stated are not just indulging in a mild violation of acceptable protocol. That you apparently don't realize that what trump said was really bloody egregious is kinda' troubling.

As miner noted, really. Though it's even worse than just sexual assault; he was talking about it specifically in context of leveraging his position of power/authority to commit them. That is messed up enough the hint of it gets people fired from jobs such as teaching positions, and can get otherwise consensual relationships to land people in jail. This isn't something that gets to be casually blown off. There's a lot of stuff that could have been, but not what was recorded.

In other news, if anyone wanted a nice breakdown of trump's lies in the second debate, here's one of the more straightforward I've seen. Hadn't actually checked to see what the first one was like on that front, but apparently the margins between the two were about the same.
