It is probably used to refer to 'em at times, but far from exclusively.

General Discussion / Re: Quora requiring names
« on: September 18, 2016, 01:52:37 am »
... well, you have a for-profit company wanting to know your name. Generally the answer to your question is because they're making money off that name, some way or another.

If you want to know Quora's stated reason, it's apparently stated here, at the least.
Quote
The spirit of the policy is two-fold:
Discourage use of corporate brand names as identities. I want to see a CMO's name attached to the message and not the corporation she represents at that moment.
Encourage accountability by linking real identity to content produced. There is the option to contribute anonymously for those who disagree. This decision is a huge contributing factor to the success of Facebook. Considering that Quora's founders were early employees of Facebook, this is expected.

If you want to see some other options, you could probably browse through this list. Quora's not exactly the only Q&A site in existence. There's also stuff like reddit or whathaveyou, which while not dedicated to strictly Q&A is still not particularly lacking in places to ask or answer questions.

... I think the problem kinda' repeatedly pointed out in the last bit is that SJW is not nearly as clear a set of people as, as per your example, something like the religious right are. The latter actually has a pretty clear set of people it's applied to, who generally have a fairly congruent set of political goals (if perhaps not much else), whereas SJW is applied to probably (at least) a dozen different groups, some with radically different (and at times contradictory) objectives, methodologies, etc., etc., etc. Religious right is broadly speaking an actual designator. SJW is more a derogative than just about anything.

Mm... I guess, but I think it just never really seemed to me that FF focused on the undead angle, mebbe? Fran was more about mad science with the occasional reanimated monstrosity as a sort of intermittent side effect. More flesh golems and frankensteinian creations, less zombies and vampires and whatnot. Not so much undead as biology run vigorously amok. Some of the stuff definitely classified as undead but that angle was like... downplayed or somethin'. Along those lines, anyway. It's been a while since I read through Fran.

Can it not be both? Though HotD didn't cross my mind, as I've never seen it. Tentative stuff was Bund, Sankarea, Jitsu Wa, and some one I've forgotten the name of that involved a fair amount of cat ears and a dad vampire with a pretty awesome goatee. Handful of others I've ran into but those were top of the head.

Fran was thought of but mostly discarded on the undead front. It guess it mostly slots in the same area, but it's a separate sort of thing t'me for some reason.

Eeehhh, depends on the undead. Standard zombie stuff I'm not terribly fond of, either, but anime zombie stuff is at times... distinctly non-standard. Sometimes in a good way, sometimes not, oft times lewd to varying degrees.

And other undead... well, normally it's vampires, and not really the alucard teeth everywhere I-hope-you-didn't-need-that-flesh vampires. It's the vampires that generate fairly copious amounts of porn and only occasionally involve blood, particularly any consumed blood.

... though sometimes said vampires don't even have the decency to be undead but we'll just ignore that and consider the other side of those love interests to be raging necrophiliacs regardless.

E: Speaking of which, I think it's time to start re-reading Jitsu Wa. Amusingly enough, I had forgotten the name and found it again with the google search "vampire manga idiots" sans quote. Wasn't the first result but it was on the first page :V

Very, very easily. Well, in a relative sense. Not terribly difficult, let's go with that.

Think the easiest recipe for me is relative inaction (not much movement, besides non-food biological maintenance) combined with sufficient engagement (good long book, game easy to lose hours in, etc.). Going a day, every once in a while two, without even noticing you haven't ate can happen fairly naturally.

... at least until 24-48 hours in when you try to get up and notice you're one wobble away from falling over >_>

'The unseen one'?
K... something or other. Kurtlemak? Definitely a misspelling, but somewhere along those lines.

Well, that's certainly a....novel interpretation of history. Utterly disagree with your conclusion though -- that any criticism of the Left is basically being a pawn of the far-right? Especially when it's criticism of people who have gone so far out into left field that they're not even in the fucking stadium anymore.
That's... not what M's spiel was saying, though? The conclusion was that using far-X terms for their opposition as a means of contempt was reinforcing said far-X's worldview. Criticism is fine, it's when you're aping the same worldview and terminology (and its use) the alt-foo folks are using you're contributing to a problem, basically.

I've basically never had van commanders work out well, oddly enough. Tried a good handful of times, but they always seemed to either die or be useless faster than... many things, really. Never got around to trying to figure out why, I just ended up with the habit of avoiding the van nations... except midgard, anyway. Skinshifters are things of beauty, even if I could manage to leverage more or less nothing else in their kit.

Uh. All but two of their casters have death access? They've also got two national summons that take death to call up. Fair chunk of their junk's descriptions is laced with death-related stuff, too.
