The runes sound awesome, but can their be (or is their already) a way to get them on civilians? mainly the steel rune on siege operators, that would be awesome. although the rune sound great regardless, and make for more specialized things, like hazmat suits when dealing with a FB if one is willing to micromanage, anti archer squads that can close the distance fast, and scuba gear, (question can you put the cobalt rune on volcanic gear?). Can't wait for the runes :).

also 2 questions,(I'm sorry if these have been answered before, my searching ability is rusty :(.)
what is a ward? my carpenter made one after being possessed in a bowyer work shop, and a hauler threw it in a weapons stockpile.
I don't know what it does, how good of a weapon it is, or well anything about it, help.

Q2. On harder mining is their a way to not have the spawn monster when mining? just the dust and warpstone? i want the harder challenge with out the underground monkey wrenches (i have more than enough of those) if you get my point
maybe a suggestion of separating the options hard mining with a harder mining maybe?

>> the trade depot exploded, destroying it, all the limestone paved roads around it, blowing the wooden door off the nearby buildings,
>> setting the entire lower part of the map on fire, and killing everyone and everything at the trade depot except 1 fire turret and 2 zombies. I'm still trying to
>> find out how this happened

which killed several of my military, which let a drow anbush weaken them, which let a herd of centaurs slaughter them and a good number of the populace, which let another warlock necromancer trader finish of the fort. all in about 5 minutes irl, Domino effect for the FUN.

so executing the warlocks on sight is my only option. I'm chill with this , i don't mind them as enemies, one of my favorite enemies actually, i just hate them as allies, and i don't really want to gen a new world.

On a diffrent note, can a hellfire landmine explode in a cage? or are there any warlock abilities that let them explode? i had and incident awhile ago during a previous orc fort, when the chaos dwarves, the deep drow, and a warlock caravan showed up at once. One warlock was a necro, and if i remember correctly the dwarves brought 2 hellfire landmines, at first it was all fine (the zombies were actually pretty good training for my military) but then after the trading was done and i was chastising a shaman for demanding a orichlum cabinet, the trade depot exploded, destroying it, all the limestone paved roads around it, blowing the wooden door off the nearby buildings, setting the entire lower part of the map on fire, and killing everyone and everything at the trade depot except 1 fire turret and 2 zombies. I'm still trying to find out how this happened, I didn't purchase those 2 land mines so i dont know how they could have gone off, and i don't know all the warlock ability. so i really don't know what happened, and would like to prevent further nuclear strikes(or at least control them). any ideas?
(sorry if this is in the wrong section, i know masterwork adds landmines and warlocks but it happened while playing orc fortress, and i didn't know which to post this question in,sorry :'(.)

so with warlocks, I read the bad trading partner tip in the manual but..
I never figured that I would come to hate them worse than elves. you figure necros wouldn't be so skittish about buying things made from animals, or flame warlocks caring so much for trees, (and their sieges in dwarf masterwork were hilarious "Family feud. warlock edition!"). or is their anyway to turn them off as trading partners? or do i have to piss them off to get the friendly ones to stop coming in a already genned world.

(masterwork, or at least i think these rabid monsters are) centaurs Freaking Centaurs, they show up in herds mincemeat my entire military regardless of their equipment or skill, then prance around the work areas for several months utterly stopping my fortress, oh and they murder any random worker that gets to close, and that's when I try to ignore the the little rabid over glorified donkeys.

DF Suggestions / cave adabtion positive
« on: March 05, 2013, 03:23:30 pm »
I was thinking that cave adaptation could have a positive effect with the negative effects. so when a dwarf becomes cave adapted they now could for example, move faster underground. Of course with the trade off of the current negative effects for it.

Since the dwarves are adapting to the underground life it makes sense that they would be able to better live underground.
With maybe a slightly more serious negative to going above ground after being adapted to balance it out.
do you think this would be a good idea?

(conversation recorded between Overseer thefish1992 and the orc scribe Messianicdisloyalty)

NO. you want a orichulam cabinet? then you can stop barring the trade of crowns. we have 73 of those glorified tiaras, and i'm getting tired of these interfering with trade. either drop the ban or i will have you repla BOOM!!!
(end of recording)

Message to sent to all Able-body military personnel of Lyingmoths.
I need all of you that can still stand to get to the trading depot (or whats left of it) now! i don't know what happened but the entire area just went up in smoke and their are 14 zombies milling about in it, no wait only 5 are left, but i need you to take those zombies out before they get to any civilians.

Warning sent to all non military orcs in Lyingmoths.
Please stay up on the high grounds for now. I know you all have a lot of work to do down their but if you didn't notice the entirety of the low grounds is now a inferno, you all are going to have to stay and the Burning Orc Tavern for now while the military sort this mess out ok? and yes mason i already knew your jobs were canceled, you don't have to tell me.

Message sent to Warlock traders guild.
Dear Warlock Traders,
Re: Concerning the incident 253 Moonstone

I have put up with quite a lot from you already what with your traders necromancy, but this went to far, when not only you, the deep dwarves, and the my taiga orc brethren show up to trade at once i was worried something would happen, but this?!
somehow you lot not only blew up my trade depot, all nearby paved roads, the doors of the nearby building, and setting the entire lower area of the map on fire, but you also killing everyone and everything including the other merchants, yourselves, and all of the animals brought to trade at the trade depot, 9 of the zombies one of your necros raised, 3 of my military and no less than one skunk in the initial blast. We will be claiming a recompense payment from the next caravan you send to cover damages.
On a personal note? Just between you and me. that was the most fun I've had in while please keep coming to trade with us.

Your bemused trade partner thefish1992

DF General Discussion / Re: The amazing travel guide to the depths of magma
« on: December 12, 2012, 09:35:05 pm »
The dwarves are nice yes, but what about your magma? Do you offer volcanic or sea magma? How about natural wildlife in case i know some dwarves more interested in a safari?

57
Dear Human Traders,

Was it the smell?
Did the military scare you? the traps?
because as soon as we were done trading you packed up and took off like a bloody rocket out of my fortress,
Why did you hit the NOS on the way out? I need to know so i can make sure it happens when the elves get here.

With concern,
Thefish1992.

Dear Elven Diplomat

I recived your complaint about are "horrible" wood-cutting industry and it has left me with a couple of questions,
One, did you notice that we do NOT have a wood-cutting industry? that we live on a volcano with almost no trees with in site? why the hell do you think I have been buying your wood?
Two, the thing closest to a tree that i had recently cut down was a nether cap, and i personally consider these more mushroom than tree,
and while you are close to tree, dwarfs are close to mushrooms, and i will answer and further Demands towards a mushroom industry with magma

Love
Thefish1992

So it was just masterwork at work,(I sorry i didn't clarify about the mod, my bad  :()well either way she is doing fine after a doctor put some iridium stitches in her head and she went off to work, tough gal.

With a last name like that, it's obvious what you must use her for.

I do like the "likes the color clear" though
i should really start checking my dwarves likes and name more often, i didn't even relize her last name until you brought it up
or her color preference, or that she likes drinking blob acid, and likes elven retreats,
