what exactly is this skill used for?

Record keeper, or book keeper. You know what I mean

also I just started a new fort and I forgot to make one of them an appraiser, does this mean I will have no idea what anything is worth?

Can ballistas actually hit anything on lower Z levels, my guys just cant seem to hit anything

well actually the dwarves had a choice of copper bolts or bone bolts (not for training but for combat), and they icked copper

I just cant seem to get this to work

I have iron weapons and iron armour that is WAY better than copper stuff.

my dwarves originally had those because I never had iron. Now Im trying to get them to equip Iron stuff, but everytime I would switch them to unarmed and no amrour. the armour and weapons they had would go into the stockpile, then I would give tell them to use their weapons and armour and they would urn in and grab the same quality weapons and armour even though there is a nice and better iron warhammer sitting right besides it

I also cant deactivat them and reactivate them because they are hammer lords.

on another note, my marksdwarves keep picking up the bone bolts instead of copper ones, is copper worse than bone?

DF Gameplay Questions / Barracks for civs, and barracks for troops

how do I get these 2 separated? I have 2 different barracks, one is a room with only beds and the other has beds, weapon racks and armour racks and even an archery range in another room.

But I keep getting all my troops sparring and sleeping in the civs barracks, and evemn a few civs go to the troops barracks

How do I move my prisoners from one cae to another, or just move the cage for example

I keep catching goblins in cage traps and I want to put them in an arena and attach them all to a lever and open it, but how do I get my goblins from the traps into this area?

well my hunters i start with, i accidentally forgot to bring a corssbow and some bolts, yet he just randomely got one? not only that, he doesnt have steel bolts in his inventory and hes shooting them

how is this happening?

literally just learned that after a seige I designated a pit dump besides a river and all the bodied were chucked in there.
