DF Gameplay Questions / Re: The Magma Sea.

Would like to point out that magma does indeed drain off the side of the map in 2010.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Installing DF HACK

You should probably post this in the modding section.  With that said, are you just wanting to use the dfhack utilities?  If that is the case, you shouldn't need to build it yourself.  You should be able to use the pre-compiled binaries.

Maybe it's the acid rain bug?
Some stay dry and others feel the pain.

You are confusing chocolate rain with acid rain.

The wiki has pretty straight forward information on making a pumpstack, here is a picture.

DF Gameplay Questions / Obsidian not showing on stone menu?
« on: April 24, 2010, 05:40:22 pm »
First, there is no natural obsidian on my map at all.  I created a obsidian farm which I have used to create some obsidian.  Problem being I can't do anything with it as it is considered an economic stone, and when trying to find it in the stone menu, it is not listed.  I see it under the stock screen fine.  This a bug, or am I just not looking in the correct place?

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Caged wild animal butchery
« on: April 24, 2010, 02:24:14 pm »
this is one reason everything should be atleast tamable so that you can atleast butcher them.  That or there needs to be a way implemented in so that we can butcher wild animals.  I find it absurd that I need a dungeon master to tame my caged deer just so I can butcher them.  I know some people say you can have soldiers kill them, but I find that method doesn't work all the time.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Underground tree soil types

It should also be noted, that the soil layers do not have to be "muddied" or irrigated in any way for trees and shrubs to start growing once you break open the cavern.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: aquifer raw

There is no raw for it.  They are created during world gen.

As the title says, wondering if there are tricks or tips on getting a more variety of layers.  I am looking to generate a world that is fairly flat (since I hate having a hilly embark) and trying to maximize ores/gems by having a variety of layers.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: defeating cave swallow men?
« on: April 18, 2010, 02:29:26 pm »
Hmm, unless I am looking at the wrong raw, there is no flier tag for them, but they do seem to inherit other tags from the cave swallow itself or something.  Like I said, not real sure how the new raw system works.

DF Gameplay Questions / defeating cave swallow men?
« on: April 18, 2010, 02:12:52 pm »
I was attempting to trap them, but it seems they magically avoid the traps, I guess because they are fliers.  Due to the military having so many issues I have not been able to equip them with armour to protect them in fighting them so I need a way to trap them.  Any way to mod out the flier tag so that they will be trappable?  The raws are a bit different now and I don't know how to do it.

also, you don't need a dungeon master to train elephants.  Not sure about gorillas

yea, I made sure to make it draw from a lower level of the magma, and in the middle of it.
