Or, instead of sewers, there could be composting toilets.
Advantage: no smells, can be inside or outside, and produces fertilizer that can be used with no further manipulations.
Disadvantages: It can take 2-3 years for the 'waste' to be ready to use as fertilizer and until it is ready it must remain in the toilet.
The toilet would have to be placed over a channel/pit at least 2 z-levels deep and only the bottommost layer could be used as fertilizer.

Yeah, that could include using gnomeblight and golden salve (which as far as I know are almost useless) as medicines.

I personally think this game is better with the stats the way they are.  Adding in numbers doesn't really give you any new information.  For instance, if you're confronted by an 'ultramighty' opponent, you know that you need a ton of dwarves to take it down and you'll lose quite a few in the process, you don't need to know that the opponent has 95 strength, it doesn't change anything about the strategy.

How about an apprenticeship system instead?  Where you can assign a child to follow an adult with the skill you want the child to have and the child can slowly pick it up.  You still wouldn't be able to control the child otherwise.

I definitely agree with the first two suggestions, it would make defense plans easier to make.  But I'm not sure I understand what you mean in your third suggestion?  Do you mean set several different rally points for each dwarf/group and label them by priority?

Okay, in another of my practice fortresses, I got a splattering of ichor, and now my fortress is being covered in white stuff.  Which would be cool except that I'm building out of orthoclase (I seem to be swimming in the stuff), and the nice gold color is steadily disappearing beneath the relentless flood of white.

the inside of my fortress (inside the mountain) is quite clean, for now, but all of the outside buildings are covered in mud and blood, and I was wondering if the cleaning job could be tweaked so that outside constructions could also be cleaned?

Best way I can think of is comparing the items to a known list of vanilla DF items and either not allowing you to receive it, or sending the required raw files along with it and giving the receiver a prompt to allow the mod.

The problem with mods in this case is that afaik a lot of them require a new world generated that includes the mod from the getgo, so you can't add in new creatures or anything else after the fact although you can alter existing ones after world generation.
