Or add itemsyndrome to the weapon you want to be poisonous, which is more close to MH universe because you don't need to coat the weapon since it's poisonous right after been made.

Would it be possible to make a tank in a workshop?
You can make a tank creature with tank part and cannon ball firing interaction.
Or a tank workshop with dwarf transform into pseudo "tank operator" that has cannon ball firing interaction.

If the part is designated as a grasp part and as being left or right, yes.

Can you override the subtype of the tile?
You should ask Meph since he has experience dealing with items with subtypes.
