"OR you can just ignore this bug. "

Yeppp.
I was afraid that's how it's going to be when i want to station archers on walls.

Thanks
It's not easy to ignore it considering the fact that lords are always happy whereas normal soldiers grumble about their duties. That will heavily impact your militarizes happiness.
No don't give up, I found a few ways.
Like for stationing you say, Let the squad train throughout the year so don't change their default schedule.
Since you wanted them to be positioned on a wall or something, just protect that area with fortifications and construct a armour stand over there for them to train. Simple! They will train on that area on that wall and also shoot any hostiles. That minimizes the chance that you will make them lose their lord status.(just makes sure the barracks room shape allows all the dwarfs to be adjacent to the fortifications)
I do that even for stationing, particularly for long periods of time. I just construct a wooden chest in the required area, and make them train there instead of their usual barracks, Takes longer, yes, but hey till this bug is resolved I guess we have to get used to it.
For emergency kill orders, stationing them(rather than issuing kill orders) for a short while works out. Kill orders seem to be more bugged and sometimes cause them to lose their status.

There's a known bug that I'm aware of:
Dwarves that have a hero status i.e. elite marksdwarves, axelords lose their hero status on some occasions and revert to being a regular soldiers
This 'some occasions' you're referring to is, whenever any lord is deactivated from duty and currently that can happen in the following ways:
1.Whenever you issue a station order,(especially happens if they have been stationed for long) and then cancel it, they revert back to their civilian ways for a short while, THUS LOSING their lord status when they revert back to train or whatever it is they have been scheduled to do.
2.If your schedule involves different orders (1st month:train,2nd month:patrol etc) once the first month gets over, again they will revert back to their civilian ways for a short time and when they go back to their orders (overhere patrolling) they lose their lord status.
3. Of course, deliberately deactivating them from active to civilian.
The mechanism of this bug is that the said dwarf's main skill(say axedwarf), when it reaches great level or higher promotes him to a lord but when this lord is deactivated due to the any of the above said reasons, He has to again get an increment in the said skill(here axedwarf, even a little amount will do), that will restore his lord status.
Currently, the only way to prevent this is to keep a squad training for the whole year round,(atleast that's what I do) and not stationing them for long since that might cause them to revert. I'm not aware of any other means of preventing this.
OR you can just ignore this bug.

Life Advice / Re: Mental disorders poll
« on: April 28, 2013, 03:49:34 am »
i have a question to ask: what if you dont have a particular disorder that is very severe, but may have mild versions of those disorders? i was never diagnosed with anything and all the surveys and self-tests that i took to find disorder showed only minor co-relation (i consider this meaning milder, but hey everyones a bit crazy), do i still check the ones in the poll that i am minor-ly affected by? or should i only check that i have no disorder?
I really don't know how serious your conditions may be, but in a way there is no 'normal' person like you said, everyone is a little 'crazy'. For me I draw the line and consider it serious when it really affects your life or really cripples you, then again some of the mentioned ones don't always do that and people can live with them.

Any chance of some community outcry at this putting somebody who wants better public schools in power?
I doubt, its been going on for years. Maybe after many many years, my place will finally show some signs of developing. I mean over here, if you say that you studied in a public school, people will assume your in poverty or something (since our public schools have neglegible fees under the Right to Education act which makes their quality even worse it seems)

Ok thanks for your opinions better wind up this. or else.
*Cautionary reminder to not judge religious people by the loudest fools amongst them all.
If that's directed at me, I'm not assuming they're all like that. That's the message she gave me.
*Cautionary reminder to not assume any statement is ever directed personally at one's self.

Alright I recently got really angry about this,
It was regarding a private school which forced few of its students who belong to other faiths to attend their religious ceremony.(I'm trying my best not the name any religion but you all get the point). No doubt some parents protested but the principal said they can leave the school if they wanted to.
Here's what made me rage about it:
-Ok it's a PRIVATE school, any religious private school has a right to do that and it's the parents fault in sending them there. I'm aware of that.
-But how about this way, from where I come from our public schools are terrible.(there is no better word for that) In cities almost everyone makes their children attend private schools. Now these private schools have been started by missionaries long time back and are known for their educational institutes. A normal parent has no choice but get their child admitted in schools like these, if they want their child to get quality education. They simply have no choice, and thats the current trend over here.
-Mind you, NOT all these schools do this, they usually let the children of other faiths to have their own choice regarding these matters.
That's why this one made me really pissed off, since I myself I've been educated in one, and it made me really ashamed.
What are your thoughts on this, I'm hope I don't start a heated discussion I just want to hear a few opinions that's all.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: DF 2012v0.34 question and answer thread

I have more than enough partial skeletons (bones) on my refuse stockpile. yet my possesed dwarf refuses to take them. he remains idle.

Partial skeletons are NOT usable bones. Partial skeletons especially of humanoids WILL never be used, but partial skeletons of butcherable animals can be butchered for bones.(if you have auto butcher it will happen).
check out this  http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2012:Corpse

Quote
A corpse has several levels of decay, it will begin as "(creature or name) corpse", progress to "rotten (creature or name) corpse", "(creature or name) partially decayed corpse", and then to "(creature or name) skeleton", and will remain a skeleton indefinitely. Alternatively, if the creature had had parts ripped or cut off before death, the corpse will be described as "mutilated corpse" and "partial skeleton" in respective descriptions, and the parts (if still on the map) will decay into a type of bone depending on the part. Note: this is the only way to get useable bones from creatures dwarves refuse to butcher according to their ethics (unless you modded the ethics). Cutting a goblin up using serrated blade traps or throwing them down extreme heights (such they explode) will generate useable goblin bones and skulls.

From what I understand (little), "romantic interests" is actually a blanket term used by those too unaware of it's true purpose as an indoctrination tool to guide you to a certain person and subtly manipulate you into coapulating with them in order to produce more offspring who will eventually suffer from this malignance as well. I don't quite understad why they're doing it, but I sure as hell know that I didn't agree to having my biochemistry destabilized in order to make me easier to shoehorn into a predetermined destiny.
Now I know what I'm going to say when my mom asks me when Im going to get married.

ETA: This was when I was 18.  I'm not bemoaning the onset of puberty, jegus.
Welcome to the real world!
