James Williams. Kenny Ashcroft. Liberty Jefferson. Perhaps even more. In the beginning, these students of Haven University only knew each other by sparse references or rumors. But in the year 2025, Fate ("GOD") was considered to be a ridiculous concept, borne of pseudoscience and superstition, a rationalized cause of seemingly related coincidences. But, pulling the strings beyond space and time, perhaps there was something greater, fating the eventual crossroads that these people would meet upon, and change Fate forever.

This entire universe, dependent on puppet strings.

The universe has a beginning, but no end. — Infinity. Stars, too, have their own beginnings, but their own power results in their destruction. — Finite. It is those who possess wisdom who are the greatest fools. History has shown us this. You could say that this is the final warning from God to those who resist.

Journeys — Finite.
Men — Finite.
Willpower?

Infinite.

11.11.25, 4:00 PM

JAMES ; Haven University, Library
"Hey.. dude, you there?" asked a voice from reality. James snapped out of his trance, a manga book of "MoMo's Absurd Journey" in his hands. Where was he? Oh right, he was in the library, reading manga to pass the time. In the downtime between classes, it was always a habit of him to sit in the Haven library to read - manga, books and stuff, or to work - program, design algorithms. This November day was just the same.

The person calling on him was standing tall above James who was seated down in a chair at the table, having nearly dozed off. Upon studying the face of the person further, James recognized it to be his classmate, a native Japanese man around his age who went to his Algorithms class. His name came to mind; Yashagi Hirohito. Of course, in non-Japanese nomenclature, he would be Hirohito Yashagi. People usually just call him Hiro. A young, slender man of poor muscle and average energy.

Oh right. James should probably answer.

KENNY ; Haven University, East Wing
Kenny was standing from his desk, his physics class finally ending at 4:00 PM. It was fairly easy work, complex equations that Kenny already knew well enough, relating to energy density and thermodynamics. The classes offered at Haven University were far beyond most other colleges; the curriculum was designed by geniuses, for geniuses, giving the students near masters' level work in their first year. The workload was large, but the geniuses retained the information fairly well.

Moving to walk out of class, Kenny noticed a poster on the wall outside the classroom door:

Quote
SCIENCE CLUB

ENGINEERING? MATH? SCIENCE? PURSUE A COMMON GREATNESS, JOIN SCIENCE CLUB. INTRO MEETING NOVEMBER 11th, 6 PM in Room 142, East wing.

Huh, that sounded kind of interesting. As he finished reading it, the figure of a woman caught his sight... looks like someone from his thermodynamics class, tall and blonde. He searched his strong memory, remembering that her name was Liberty, and that she was distinctly American.

LIBERTY ; Haven University, East Wing Workshop
Liberty wiped the sweat from her forehead, finally finished with a rotary part of an engine model she made with a lathe. For class. She already well knew how to use one, so it was a breeze. Putting her safety goggles away, Liberty stepped outside as she wondered what she should do with the rest of her time today, since she had no more classes.

Walking a short ways from the workshop, she eventually stopped, seeing a young man staring a poster on the wall. Curly dark hair and tan complexion, Liberty recognized him as possible American. She thought she recognized his face; wasn't he in one of her thermodynamics classes? Name to face, name to face...
Oh! The boy's name was Kenny, and he was definitely in her thermodynamics class. Good thing she remembered his name, that was lucky. Sat a few seats away from him, too. She took a quick glance of the poster, before glancing back to him.

"Time travel used to be thought of as just science fiction, but Einstein's general theory of relativity allows for the possibility that we could warp space-time so much that you could go off in a rocket and return before you set out."
- Stephen Hawking

In the year 2025, the pale blue dot of planet Earth is still beautiful and green, humanity thriving under the influence of technology. Life is the same as it has been in the past; there is still war, suffering, terrorism, and death - but for many, the year 2025 offers grand opportunity. Though humanity's moment in Earth's history is small, it will lead a lasting impact for many years to come.

Life is normal.

But the future is uncertain. Tensions are rising between nations. The power of organizations separate from nations is rising with the spread of technology. In this timeline, it will not be up to kings or presidents to save the world; it will be up to heroes.

Warning to future players: This game involves time travel. Meaning, I may and will take the liberty of controlling the actions of your characters whenever time fuckery happens. This game requires experienced roleplay; how else will you save the future? Also, if you get in, please be active c:

As you could probably guess, this is a game about time travel, inspired by the visual novel Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0. It will not be immediately about time travel because the technology is nonexistent in 2025, but its influence will grow as the story progresses. The rules for the game are soft as it is focused more on roleplay than states, but they do exist as a guide for actions and certain specializations. In the year 2025, technology has advanced a little bit; robots are more prevalent with machine learning advancing, and quantum computing is beginning to become viable in practical use, as is fusion technology. This game is also cent

For character sheets, PM me any hidden details or other things about your characters as much as you can just so I don't accidentally anything. Other than that, apply by posting a sheet. "What are heroes..? Heroes are borne from a.. need of change; heroes are agents of change. People will grasp at whatever they can for the better; they will swim in seas of knowledge, grasp at their own hope within them... or they will simply ignore it and confine themselves into the bliss of their ignorance, uncaring for much at all. I should know, really. I've killed my fair share of heroes. A millennium and a second seems no difference to me, really; heroes rise, heroes fall. The only thing that will win in the end, if given the most time, is the most primal and simplest of things... chaos, emptiness, destruction. What difference is there in anything? You guys are like hydras, kill one and another takes its place... only, a fire needs to be built to take it down. What that fire is... well, you can figure that out, can't you?"
"I know you can... I know its you. You don't even know you have control, because I take it from you; each time you fall, I beat you back up and make you play my game again. Isn't it fun, being a pawn to something greater? You aspire to these 'gods', yet look at them now, watching their planet racked with destruction. What are gods? Omnipotent? No, the gods bend to the will of the greater gods, and those gods bend to the will of those greater than even them. But who's the prime, who will beat the world back into shape and order?"
Chuckle.
"Not you, Caes. Not you, Aedan, not you Thor, Zeus, none of you. So send your guardians, your saviors, and let them come at Me. Like heroes, they will rise...
And they will fall."

It was a late evening and the red glow of the sun was setting on the entirety of Camp Cinder, surrounded by a green and lush France forest free from the chaos of the world; the camp, however, reflected the war. Most of the structures were simply large tents erected out of haste or shaddy makeshift structures to serve whatever purposes are needed; the camp, however, was fairly large and housed a large population of both civilians and soldiers, mundane and magical. Many a group were in housing quarters B, a dull concrete building filled to the brim with hammocks and dense assortments of furniture and such, mostly poor and wooden with many people's belongings. Three men were sat at a table playing a game of blackjack, as they typically did; one had a sly smirk on his rough face accompanied by the large pile of chips at his table; his brown hair was cropped short and he simply wore a white tank with cut blue jeans. The other man right by him was of dark complexion and of Arab nationality, dark hair cut neatly short and wearing white robes with a turban. The final man was very slim and had clean white hair cut down to the shoulders, as well as rectangular glasses on that shone over his dark eyes; he had a white collar shirt on, dirtied from labor and khaki shorts also dirtied.
Leaning against the wall was a short Japanese woman with and long braided hair, wearing a denim jacket with her hands shifted into the pockets of dark cargo shorts. Her eyes were glowing a strange purple color, but her expression was that of sheer boredom. What are you all doing at this time, in this "wonderful paradise" of a building?

Team Northsdale has fallen.

"The Office of the Presidency of the United States of American has declared a state of emergency..." rang the television screen, a poor monitor thrown on the wall in cursory, one of the few means of communications on a wall of peeling plaster and sorrow.
"President Christopher White has declared DEFCON 1 in response to the recent attacks on Earth... plans to launch nuclear weapons into the Eternal Twilight have been quickly discussed..."
The low-quality voice of the news anchorwoman tore from the speaker across the wood shack; footsteps creaked each old and rotted plank and the sounds of distant gunfire haunted the trapped refugees, distant cracks instilling fear and dismay.
"Team Northsdale is gone, we repeat, Team Northsdale is gone..."
"..a massive explosion of magical nature, leaving a quarter of Northsdale in ruins... France, New York, Sao Paulo, all uninhabitable and dubbed 'forbidden zones'..."
"They just disappeared... I-I saw them, they just teleported away and never returned... w-why did they leave us when we needed them the most!?"
"Mysterious dark figures marching and flying across the ruins of France... machines murdering for blood... God has abandoned us."

"Where are your heroes now?"

Resuming from the end of Rise of the Magic Girls v3, Team Northsdale has been presumed dead to the rest of the world. The chaos that they were suppressing has begun to invade Earth and what little power it has left is slowly fading, hope diminishing as Earth continues to be ravaged. Refugee camps have been set out in many different places across the planet, sanctuaries for victims of the War and targets for its enemies and the enemy has made control of various locations, corrupting them into terrible, dangerous locations known as Forbidden Zones. One such refugee camp, Camp Cinder, is a large outpost stationed 30 miles east of the borders of France, which is now a Forbidden Zone, and is where many refugees from France and other areas have gone for both safety, and to fight off the forces of the void.
But.. who are you?

OOC Thread

Kindness, Bravery, Patience, Integrity, Perseverance, and Justice. These aspects ultimately culminate into DETERMINATION, and make up your SOUL.
Kindness is one's ability to help others, their determination to save and heal, their determination to befriend others and support their friends.
Bravery is one's courage; their determination to move forward and face their fears as well as stronger opponents. Each point of Bravery will increase your ATK by 1.
Patience is one's ability to wait, no matter the situation, as well as the determination to analyze things.
Integrity is one's ability to keep together, morally and mentally. Integrity allows you to resist against magical attacks. Each point of Integrity will increase your DEFENSE by 1.
Perseverance is one's ability to persist in difficult situations and their will to exist. Each point of Perseverance will increase your HP by 5.
Justice is one's ability to deliver vengeance to one's enemies. Each point of Justice will increase your ATK by 1. Attacks may also apply KR, or Karmic Retribution, which may deal extra damage based on an enemy's karma.

Determination is the culmination of every point in these abilities. There are substats as well; LV is your Level of Violence and EXP is your Execution Points, both earned by defeating monsters. These will increase your level faster than you normally would without violence, but requires the killing of monsters.

Long ago, two races ruled over Earth: HUMANS and MONSTERS. One day, war broke out between the two races, and after the long battle, humans were victorious. They sealed the monsters underground with a magic spell known as the BARRIER. Mt. Damon, is where this spell was created, and is the among the few entrances to the Underground, with others such as Mt. Ebott existent as well. Legends say that those who climb the mountain never return, sparking the minds of explorers, the curious, or even the suicidal to climb it.

Welcome to Mistral.
The eastern Kingdom of Mistral houses beautiful seas and jungles that expanse further than the eye can see, vast wetlands where the most diverse animal and plant species dwell deep under the waters. The City of Mistral is located on Mistfall Island, off the shore in Mistfall Sea, the large circular body of water residing at the heart of Mistral. To the north of Mistfall Sea lies vast arctic pine forests, and residing in the east lies the Ember Strip, a narrow piece of volcanic land home to barren land and Grimm, much like its sister in the far east, Ujkayer Field, the second largest volcanic field in Remnant situated right south of the hot Arakabark Desert.
Mistral is home to a great culture with combat intertwined deep within it; youth learn combat early in their lives, the best competing in tournaments. Home to great art and innovation, Mistral is a place of sophisticated culture and art. Also home to Mistral is the renowned Haven Academy, where young students go to train to be hunters, slaying the creatures of Grimm and protecting the common interests of humanity as guardians of the greater good.

In the large tiltjet was eight student, the eighth of which was a blonde girl with water blue eyes. Flying over the vast jungle that bordered the Mistfall Sea, they awoke from their slumber during the long voyage as their headmaster, a man named Shade Orwatch, a tall and slender figure with dark black hair cut short, large, beady eyes that glance around watching. His face is has sharp features and appears to be extremely clean; he wears a black suit with the symbol of an eye stitched onto the pocket.
"First-years," he addressed, standing among them with his arms folded behind his back; his voice was calm and collected, and it seems to have the hint of a silver tongue, one that knows the appropriate thing to say, always, "Currently we are flying above a massive jungle, home to all sorts of dangerous critters and Grimm. Anyways, I'm sure you'd love sleep, but I'm afraid that for your first assignment you will be dropped off into this jungle. Your task? Survive two nights."
As dismayed spread across the student's faces, their seats suddenly rotated, the wall of the tiltjet opening as they are suddenly ejected out of the ship, designated to land in a random strip of dense jungle land...

Headmaster Orwatch sips his mug of coffee as a large man in a grey coat, carrying a metallic suitcase walked in.
"Excellent suggestion for the first-years, Mr. Strider," Orwatch remarked, sipping his mug.
"Kids these days need actual survival training. That, and the dangerous Grimm in the jungle? Hah, they're fucked if they aren't careful!" he laughed.
They both chuckled.

Spoiler: Rules (click to show/hide)

Aspiring students of the art and science of magic, for years you have learnt under the wing of famous wizard Milton Manatide. However, when chaos came upon the world from the return of the Voidlings, Milton ventured deep within the ancient megadungeon of Doomarian, and he hasn't returned since. That was a year ago. You four grew worried, so you ventured in to find him.

The affinities govern magic. Many mages perhaps specialize in an affinity (read: dangerous pyromancers), or some simply attempt to master arcane spells in general. You four, however, he trained to specialize in a primal affinity; that is, water, air, fire, and earth! That's right, each of you specialize in your own different element! And you know what's better? You can combine spells with each other to create a powerful secondary affinity spell. Want to blast something with lightning? Get together, fire and air wizards, and cross the beams! What's that, you want to freeze your enemies into an ice cube? Your time to shine, water and air wizards! Perhaps you may even learn to dabble further into the light or dark affinities, or perhaps even further.

Air - Specializes in speed and wind. Example spells include flight, speed, and storms. .5* damage against Earth.
Fire - Specializes in power and fire. Example spells include explosions, extra damage, and burning. .5* damage against Water.
Earth - Specializes in strength and earth. Example spells include damage reduction, shields, throwing boulders, and digging. 1.5* damage against Air.
Water - Specializes in fluid motion, change, and water. Example spells include shapeshifting (harder) and water manipulation. 1.5* damage against Fire.

You have created it; the point of beginning, the existence incarnate, the Big Bang. Filling into it all of your power, you intend on molding it into a vast expanse of space and time; a genesis. It is existent into your domain, and all else is nonexistent... for now. All it needs is a little nudge.

"My magic will tear you apart!" Jaina said, coating the room in a blue color as a portal suddenly burst into existence from an Unstable Portal spell; the reverberating portal waves faintly in the air before another being materializes from it...

What comes out of the portal is...

Another portal?

Suddenly, the spatial energies of the two spells interacted into a cataclysmic burst of light that filled the room, creating unforeseen magical disturbances, completely chaotic and unpredictable. As to what would come out from the portal, the anomaly? Who knows...
