Just, draining magic. That's the entire point, it uses up all the magic.
Also, please review the stuff I just edited in for balance, please.
I'm going to have to say no to the suit for many different reasons:
- I am heavily reluctant on allowing a level 20 ability, as this seems to be the epitome of minmaxing.
- It seems make him a munchkin, as it seems capable of pretty much negating his weaknsesses by allowing him other magics and equipments.
- The numbers are extremely complicated and unnecessary in a system that is meant to be simply and easy to grasp.
- Is not really explained that well, saying it can copy spells and have free telepathy despite not really explaining how it does it; Anders could not have enchanted it since he does not use that type of magic.
- It is a jack of all trades; telepathy, spell-stealing, stat raising, shields, healing, flight, etc.
I do not want to have to deal with all these numbers and functions in a god-like suit that is minmaxed in by abusing the system for a level 20 ability.
In addition, your backstory is a lot lacking and is not even a few sentences, same with your description. Your sheet is also, compared with the text wall that is your denied power suit, an extreme eyesore.
It is really hard for me to even consider this character at its current state.
Name: Alistair Ryan / Specter Evoker Rosso
Description: Alistair is of slightly above-average height for a 18-19 year old boy at 6'0'', with messy brown hair and deep hazel eyes. His frame is somewhat athletic from years of playing rugby, but not overly bulky. His skin is of a tanned complexion and he often wears light clothing, with a black jacket and blue jeans. Apart from seeming somewhat handsome and the strange ring on his right hand- a silver ring inset with a shimmering red garnet- one might not realise that Alistair is anything out of the ordinary; indeed, one might not know that he is the younger brother of the deceased Maria Ryan herself, heroine of the Northsdale Five, unless one were to ask his last name.
Personality-wise, Alistair tries to act as kindly and politely as possible, with a hot-blooded, albeit not hammy, side in battle. He holds a deep-seated hatred of the Void for taking his father and older sister away from him, but hides it well under his genuine desire to see hope restored to a world that needs it; however, said desire to destroy the Void can sometimes overtake him. His genuine desire to bring hope manifests in a desire to help others, with a protective side his older sister would be proud of. As for his semi-celebrity status, he plays it down, rarely mentioning his full name or mentioning his sister's status unless asked, and even then only sharing small details. He has a tendency to hide his own problems, including his grief over losing his sister and father, even when it would hurt him.
Evoker Form: His Evoker form manifests as a man in a black longcoat, black trousers and boots, with a silver chestplate inset with large garnets acting to protect his torso. His head is protected by a silver helm with a large red gem acting as the visor, a cross of silver arrayed across the visor. Two ruby wristbands protect his wrists, and a pair of black leather gloves protect his hands, his ring still mysteriously appearing on top of it. Across his waist, a silver belt with a metal device across the center, a series of red gems inset in a circle pattern on it.
Specter Carbuncle: Carbuncle, when it manifests, generates as a teal-furred rodent-like creature, closely resembling a squirrel. It has two tails, with the tips being inset with red gems. Its belly is protected by a similar, larger red gem and inset in its forehead is a red gem, extending upwards along with its ears. It speaks with a voice similar to that of a girl, and is now wholly devoted to assisting Alistair, feeding on his mana and positive emotions instead of pure negativity.
Backstory: Before the fall of Northsdale, before all of this happened, Alistair Ryan was an ordinary boy. Yes, an ordinary boy who happened to be the younger brother of one of the most famous women on Earth, but an ordinary boy. He got his good grades, played some rugby and did everything an ordinary boy of his age might do, occasionally being visited by his happily-married older sister at times. However, when the fall of Northsdale came, Maria sacrificed herself to protect Alistair directly, and the young man was forced to watch his sister be disintegrated in front of him, only managing to carry away the Staff of Anima to flee. When the transports came, and Arya Ryan came to collect her family, all she saw was a shellshocked Alistair holding his sister's staff to himself. Nothing needed to be said. Both remaining members of the Ryan clan knew.
Alistair was carried to the depths of depression by this happening; the loss of his father and his beloved older sister was bad enough, but when the world fell, and his mother was carted off to help the war effort and he was left all alone to deal with the questions and the sympathy, he broke. At that point, a demented creature called a Specter attempted to feed on his sadness, descending upon him as a vulture upon a carcass. Specters are formless creatures, formed from the ill thoughts of man, feeding on more ill thoughts and eventually turning those vulnerable enough into more Spectres themselves. At that point, one attempted to finish off Alistair, feeding on his depression and slowly turning him into one himself.
However, two things happened simultaneously; one, his imminent death triggered Alistair's inherent mana reserves, opening his ability to cast magic, and two, the young man reminisced to a time when he had felt as sad in his youth, and Maria comforted him with a hug and just spoke with him, cheering the boy up. At that, his resolve returned, and Alistair fought the Specter off, wielding the power of his good memories with his sister. However, instead of making it disappear, he managed to turn it to his will, dubbing the now-formed Specter 'Carbuncle' after the form it took and formed a contract with it; it would feed on his mana and he would be able to use it to amplify his magical abilities and transform. He became a Specter Evoker, dubbed 'Rosso', one of a rare few who had survived being fed on by Specters and used them to focus their magicks, with the contract manifesting in the form of a ring with a carbuncle on his right hand. Using his power, Alistair slowly clawed his way from the depths of his sadness, with one aim; just as his sister once did, bring hope to the people of Earth.
Alistair was sent to Camp Cinder as a refugee, along with the latest shipment of Australian refugees, which he protected from attacks in the guise of Evoker Rosso. Now, he seeks, armed with the power of the Specter Carbuncle and with the Staff of Anima- now his weapon, with the permission of the spirit Anima- in hand, to help the war effort and restore hope, just as his sister once did, at the closest front he can.
Stats: 30/30
STR - 4
DEX - 4
AGIL - 6

Abilities:
(Free) [Passive] Void Hater: Alistair resists Void-originated magical effects, halving damage from Void-originated beings.
(Level 1) [Active] Protective Bulwark: Alistair uses his magic to create a carbuncle shield. Reduces incoming damage by 1d6+[Ability Score*1.5+Will] for the next turn. This Bulwark can be passed to allies.

(Level 1) [Active] Carbuncle's Light: Alistair heals an ally by invoking Carbuncle's magic to cure them of their wounds, healing 1d6+[Ability Score*1.5+Will] health.
(Level 2) [Passive] Unleashed Power: Alistair's sheer will allows him to resist antimagical fields. Antimagical fields have a (Will)% reduced effect on Alistair's spells.
(Level 1) [Active] Power Bond: Alistair boosts the power of himself or an ally, amplifying damage spells or healing spells by [Will*1.5]. 1 turn cooldown.
Inventory:
- Staff of Anima: The staff of the legendary summoner Anima, belonging to the deceased Maria Ryan. Anima still resides in this staff, although she cannot contract with Alistair. Although the staff's ability to summon gods is useless without Anima being able to manifest herself, it still remains useful due to its unbreakable properties as a melee weapon and its use as a magical focus for Alistair's spells.
- A picture of himself and Maria at her birthday party
- Various clothes, bottles of water and food in a backpack
WIP
Excellent backstory and description; this is the standard I want everyone to achieve with their character. Now to take it apart:
Void Hater - A straight half damage is too powerful; I recommend making it just a flat damage resistance to make it less complicated, such as say 5 damage negated from void attacks.
Protected Bulwark - Too much shield and too complicated math; change it to perhaps a straight [Level*2+WILL] shield.
Power Bond - Too powerful for a level 1 active; change it to say, WILL/2 boost.
Anima's staff may deal 1d4 melee damage and give +1 to spell effect.
Also, if you have all this complex shit like 1d6+ability score*1.5+will please put the straight number you currently have on your sheet to save me the time. I'll eventually have a cheatsheet made with everyone's stats and shit to make it easier on GMs.
Also, calculate your health and put it below the stats header, above your actual stats. Mana is to be calculated with INT*2, so put that below your HP as well.Keep in mind people, level 1 abilities are supposed to suck.
