General Discussion / College Again Tomorrow:
« on: January 03, 2010, 09:22:10 pm »
It's probably apparent there is a few college students hanging around these forums, so I was wondering, Who else sits in suspense of starting college again? For me, I go back tomorrow to the daily grind of classical sciences and engineering specific courses.

Loads of fun to be had!

It's like the last day of being a free man, but then again it's the last day of being a bored man.

Play With Your Buddies / There's another Livestream in town. OFFLINE
« on: September 16, 2009, 04:39:40 pm »
www.livestream.com/thedragonsinfinitedenoflimits

I have plenty of games that I could probably figure out how to get the livestream to work with.

However, I play randomly - so thus I will update my online/offline status.

Playing:XCOM (poorly)

I'll try to play when the other guys are down.
Currently I have:
Bunches of Roguelikes
Dwarf Fortress
Morrowind
Neverwinter Nights 1(Complete)
stalker: Clear Skys
civilization 4(complete)

etc.

Other Games / Brink - Bethesda and Splash Damage's new FPS
« on: July 27, 2009, 03:43:16 pm »
Brink:
Quote
Brink’s main shtick is its innovative, fluid combination of co-op, single and multiplayer gameplay. In single-player mode, you have the entirety of the Ark to explore, with missions of all kinds available, dynamically generated by your investigation. Whether you have a co-op pal in tow or are playing online will affect your game, so it’s clear that replayability is where the devs have aimed their reticule.
Luckily, the generic avatars are nothing to worry about either, as customisation is central to Brink. Your chief concern in every mission is likely to be more about how much EXP it will earn you than anything else, because then you can take those brownie points and use them to hone, train and design your own avatar, armour and weaponry until… well, presumably until you’re the last man standing in the Ark. Which could prove to be a bit of a poor goal, really

http://www.gamesradar.com/ps3/brink/preview/brink/a-2009071513244175029/g-20090529113949640063

I believe it's also coming out for the PC.

A game being developed by Splash Damage (Enemy Territories, etc) and Bethesda (Elder Scroll Series, Fallout 3). It sounds like an attempt at making an FPS with RPG attachments (which many think Bethesda has already been doing) without fully falling into the use of RPG stats. I personally think it might be fun, however reading the preview that PC Gamer has, makes it blatantly apparent it will copy many mechanics of the Enemy Territory series. Such as on the fly "objectives". Which although are fun, they kind of ruin the DIY squad tactics that Battlefield 2, 2142, 1942 give off.

Sorry for the disjointedness, I drank too much coffee.

DF Modding / Why is my cuttle man hurt?
« on: August 14, 2008, 01:52:24 am »
After watching a video on cuttle fish I want to make a race of them. They basically are modeled after the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pfeffer%27s_Flamboyant_Cuttlefish which walks. However I can for the life of me, make them stand, and make them not appear injured...

DF General Discussion / Calculation for Woodcutting rate
« on: August 08, 2008, 07:51:08 pm »
Me and my friend started joking around on how much wood can a woodcutter cut if a woodcutter could cut wood on a 1x1 map.

this is the formula so far.

(M-(dT/dt-((dC+L+S)-J)/dt))-M

M would be the maximum amount of trees for the map,

dT/dt is the rate of tree growth,

(dC is the rate of basic wood cutting,

L is the level of skill in cutting (in speed),

S is the stat ( agility mainly)

J is the time taken doing other things on average)

and dt at the end is again making it a rate.

The Idea is - the amount of trees the map has maximum minus the rate at the current second of wood removal, then minus by the maximum equals the amount of wood cut.

Please add!

DF Bug Reports / [39a] World Editor maybe a little too difficult?
« on: July 14, 2008, 10:57:44 am »
When using the world editor - for me - for some reason changing any of the param sets or options causes my editor to go into an infinite cycle when generating a random world based upon it. This basically renders the editor useless for massively funky worlds. This may not be a bug, but it just seems alot of options become useless as they generate only a infinite cycle.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Possed Dwarf and Iron Table with name

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / A chain of artifacts
« on: March 16, 2008, 08:16:00 pm »
My third artifact was a 48800 dolla Cat's eye ring. Since it's conception about 5 artifacts are about the cat's eye ring. I even have a MORE expensive artifact - created by a child, of the cat's eye ring. Man I must destroy this ring!

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Weapon Traps v. Merchants.
« on: February 18, 2008, 09:20:00 pm »
I built a bunch of weapon traps on the route to my depot - so I can weed out and kill gobs. BUT when the elves entered, they were slain instantly - ( wooden cross bow weapon traps 1stack). The only thing that upsets me is that now my clerk has to wait indefinitely to gain appraisal skill..

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Attack of the Avatars!
« on: June 12, 2008, 06:39:00 pm »
I download the Legendary Lands mod and the mineral mod, and began a sandy glass fortress. Alas a few years progressed and then I met my first goblins and tore them apart with ranged weaponry. But recently the Avatar (which I had met before in thiefs, and made it possible to close off my castle roof too) attacked - a full squad of crossbowmen, led by a spearman. The spearman with his magical weapon killed all of my crossbowmen, and several other recruited dwarves, before a recruited dwarf killed him... I only lost seven dwarfs, but alas - this was only one squad! Woe is me! If only I had turned on my melee squads.
