Best of both worlds. SpBe, Spriggan Berserker
A Kobold Beserker is rather good.

They're probably running vista, which has decided its going to, at random, decide that certain games saved info goes elsewhere.

Mine is located in C:\Users\(profile name)\AppData\Roaming\crawl

Ah, that was it. No wonder I couldn't find it - I really wish Vista didn't hide data in that folder...

Do not anger the RNG.

If you savescum, he will find a way to screw your character over you wont notice. But he will just doom your character in a way you cannot save it from. and then, when you try to reload, you notice, you're already fooked, and there is nothing you can do, but wait for your inevitable demise.

AND THEN the great RNG will demand future sacrifices from following characters and the great RNG will destroy your lovelife, too.

Are you ready to pay the price? I'm not.
Don't I know it. I've played several roguelikes before, and in general while you can easily die for being stupid, Crawl is the first one I've played were you can die instantly out of no-where that just leaves you gaping "Whuh?". Now, in my experience save scumming is generally pretty bad because you tend to not learn from your mistakes; this is my 47th character with Crawl though, and getting through the first few levels only to die horribly another 40 times only to reach where I currently am does not appeal to me. With luck I will never have to use my scummed backup, but if it saves me grinding the first 10 levels again I'll do it.
I've probably played over a thousand games. I got my first few runes this tournament. CRAWL DEMANDS BLOOD.

You say you signaled for "help" all over the place, but you never thought to just ask?  What in the world was stopping you?
If you want to air how awful you think your life is, go make a thread in Life Advice so we can ignore it.

Like I said, the positive responses from people who are just good people like Vector are the reason why I loved this community. It's clear that some people do want to help, or at the very least want to appear like they would help, but it doesn't matter at this point. There is enough negativity surrounding this issue that it would be pointless to try to forget it. I really don't want to cause drama. It's stupid. Everyone on these forums are fine. I'm just really emotionally unstable, and this is just my coping mechanism.
Bandages,

I don't think we know each other. However, I've been on the internet for the majority of my life. I see how it works. If you want friends. People to care for. Go outside, Make friends. Join clubs, take up activities. If you want the pure emotionless human incarnate distilled into a few sentences, go on a internet forum.

I think it could be fun if you played it like an RTS. Ie attack other players ASAP, and keep attacking till they're dead. The threat of bugs makes me wary of starting a game, though, and I don't think I could play multi with my full demo edition anyway.
The cost of ships and level of technology needed to have said ships means the quickest you could do this is probably within two hours.

911 was so horrible in that - it truly fit into the information age. I was only 10 - but I watched it unfold live. I still remember waking up early at 6 - I live on the west coast and watching the second plane fly into one of the towers. I ended up going to school late because everyone in my house was watching TV.

General Discussion / Re: Iran unveils first bomber drone
« on: August 26, 2010, 02:05:00 am »
The honest truth is, if the Israeli's decide to destroy the nuclear power plant, it would happen to quickly and swiftly for Iran to defend itself. On the other hand, Iran has developed a vastly infective and wasteful form of weaponry. Is it capable of returning? It doesn't appear so. They would truly be better off with just precise missiles or high altitude long-range bombers with sufficient air support. However Iran lacks the abilities and the technology to develop and man these kinds of weaponry. Thus the equivalent of a missile that drops a bomb. The nearest U.S. equivalent would be an armed Warrior drone (also the MQ-9 reaper), which is capable of returning and fires much more dangerous hellfire missiles, and can carry 800 lbs of precision bombs - most often the GBU-44/B Viper strike.

I feel less threatened by Iran than I do by my own government. Which could effective kill me...

Driving in California is quite interesting. Most of freeways and roads are heavily designed and have very clear traffic signs. There are very few highways that do not use overpasses - mostly in areas that it would be difficult to set up. Because of this, most traffic jams are caused by large amounts of people using the roads - at certain times. Where I live - 4 pm every day especially on Fridays has heavy traffic that often backs up. However, on most other times, traffic is extremely light and accidents have little effect on it. Most accidents cause 3-5 minute delays as the motorists drive off to the shoulder. Really bad accidents of course take much longer. The most interesting fact however is 99% of the drivers follow the law to the book. They drive the speed or the flow. They use signals. It is really only the 1% of people who speed crazily, merge in and out of lanes to get around traffic, cut people off, that cause any problem.
Otherwise, I've driven in streams of cars going 80 mph with little issue. This often causes a weird reality to drivers from out of state who drive 75-80 on freeways thinking that every one is doing it and get pulled over by the rather intense CHP. The truth is, You only drive 80 in groups in the fast lane. If you drive anything above 75 in the slow lanes, by yourself, the CHP sees you as reckless - and also an easy kill as you are a clear target.

I do not have any doubt in my mind that Bill Roper is not actually sufficient in any manner. Hellgate London was terrible since the Alpha, but Mythos was always improving and innovating. However it was purely a creation of Travis Baldree, Max and Erich Shaefer. However the IP is now under the complete control of another company, leaving runic games (formed by Travis, Max and Erich) to produce the clearly subpar Torchlight.

I got 2 points for being killed by my own ghost in the tourney, so don't feel bad.

right now I have 3 kills done by my ghost. I'm pretty sure I'm every single one of them.

Playing one of my favorite combos - MfTm.

I for the first time ever have discovered language. At the shoals. Using nemelex. So really it's not that huge of deal. I'm just a little disappointed in that fact that the swamp didn't generate on my map.

Ooh, he apparently joined a rivalling team called MEOW. Thankfully, Meanmelter sounds like good candidate to replace him, if he wants to join the Soapers.

Oh yeah, the freenode channel #bay12crawl has my approval as a communication thing.

TRAITTOOOORRRR
And I read this thread often, I just don't have time to play except during the night..

I have a friend on MEOW. He was very adamant about my joining. It even has an older account of mine laying on it. I figured the soapers could get someone better!

I've been playing for two years now and I can consistently get to the lair, and in one game, almost a rune. It's really about about pace. Litteraly taking more than a second - like chess - each turn in the later game is crucial for success.
