At this point, Anja Galena, Slu, Smooth, and I (Erisu) prefer Ordion.

We don't think the distance from Jita is a big hindrance because we don't make that many frequent trips to buy/sell anyway. And it's not that far away from Amarr.

Plus from experience, Guristas drop crap loot, so missioning will give more ISK in Ordion.

Just our two cents. :3

PS: Just subbed for a year. :p

Woot, excellent to hear that we'll be seeing you around for at least a year, hopefully a lot longer :D

As for staying in Ordion, that certainly works out for me. I'm quite fond of the place and the region as a whole, it'd save me having to move all of my ships (of which, there are quite a few) if nothing else :D

Though if some people wanted to mission in Vuorassi on Gurista's there's no reason we can't have two offices, one over there and one here in Ordion. Though I'd suggest we set up the office in Misha actually, as it's only 1 jump from Ordion and about 20 million a month cheaper to rent in Misha station. That said, I can anchor a POS in Ordion without issue too (and likewise in Vuorassi) if that's preferred to renting offices.

Seems like things are starting to get a bit more organised now, with quite a few of us operating from Ordion, either mining or missioning. I'd say one of the only real things we need to settle on then, is the name, and possibly get a bit more of an idea of the icon people are after. I'm not sure if it's possible to play with the Corp Logo editor without actually making a corp first, but if it is something you can mess around with without committing any money etc, it may be worth seeing what's possible with it :)

I'm quite taken by the idea of using the name Armok in some way that's kinda subtle. Like Bay12, hiding in plain sight, sort of thing. I liked the general feel of "Armok Mining & Salvage" though I'm not sure on the specifics of that name. I'm not as keen on nailing us down with words like 'mining' or 'salvage'. I realise they are kinda generic in a way, but if we could perhaps find something even less specific that still has a sort of professional, or at least in theme (for Eve) feel, I'd love that. I agree with the idea that Boatmurdered may carry a bit too much history for us.

Off the top of my head, a rather weak example of something that has the right feel would be "Armok Privateers", as it's kinda fitting for how we seem to role as a Corp so far, not nailed down too much (as privateers could operate in a number of ways). Or perhaps something more fitting of the name Armok itself, like "Missionaries of Armok", of "Harbingers of Armok", or simply something to highlight that we're not just a random corp but bound by something else, "Brotherhood of Armok"

As stated, those are pretty weak examples of what I mean as I was just throwing them onto the forums as I wrote the post. But I hope they illustrate the sort of angle I'm coming from?

Fifth day of Summer, Year Three:
To much fanfare and celebration not only did one merchant arrive but two. Their market stalls were a hive of activity as the Gnomes of Spiderslaughter sought to trade both wares and stories. However, in private I was given dire news of marauding Mant armies which had caused great destruction and suffering in the lands of our old home. Naturally, I was quick to reassure our merchant guests that Spiderslaughter had experienced only slight skirmishes with the odd Mant scout, this seemed to calm the traders somewhat.

Still, it is troubling to hear of such troubles abroad. As a precaution, I have instructed our builders to seal the fort as soon as possible, once the remaining spoils of recent combat with the Goblins is brought back inside. In the mean time, I have requested that Sergeant Webster have the Silvery Lurkers of Battle organise extra patrols along the ramparts for the coming few days...

So a bit more of a serious discussion about a Bay12 corp took place today between Erisu, myself, Spraypaint Junkie and Lady Kaye (and later a little with Slu, Anja, and Wulf :))

So far a few people are tied to their current corps, either for personal reasons or because they are involved in wars/incursion stuff. But being in different corps doesn't really impact our ability to fly as a fleet when people have free time to leave their warzone etc. Currently people are congregating around Ordion, a 0.5 high-sec system in Kor-Azor(Amarr), it's where myself and Anja have called home(ish) for a while now. It has good access to agents of all levels (of various factions, though with an obvious emphasis on Amarr) and very nice mining too. As well as access to low-sec 2 jumps away, though a bit far from Jita. We're probably looking at having an office down here at least, though with the way offices work, if there are groups of us who operate in different areas, we may simply be able to have separate offices spread around to accommodate people as they move.

Although there is HFS which is currently dormant, I don't believe the CEO is playing right now. So rather than try to get in touch and ask them to re-sub for the soul purpose of transferring control of the corp to a new member, we've been trying to think of names for a new corp. Erisu has suggested the name should contain Armok in there some place, but other than that (and the general consensus that is should have obvious tie-ins to DF) we're pretty open still on the name. Any suggestions?

One of the reasons that I think it would be more fun for everyone to be involved in setting up a new corp, is it would be a group project, and allows us to brand it as B12 in some way. Something unifying that we can all identify with, rather than inheriting the baggage (both good and bad) of another existing corp, such as my own. As much as you'd all be welcome in Order of the Pathless Way, I just don't think it would be nearly as fun for everyone if you all moved into my 'house' as it were, as opposed to us all making a communal house from scratch that we can name and build from the ground up. Kinda feels more epic if you're one of the founding Dwarfs, and you're there for the mining of the first dormitory, as opposed to a migrant who moves in once everything's all set up and running ;)

However, Lady Kaye has kindly offered to let us move into her Corp should people not wish to make a new one: Fluffy Bunnies of Death

As for the focus of the corp, it seems we have a fairly wide spread of skill levels, from brand new players all the way up to players who've played previously and recently re-subbed, or those who've been active for years. So there's an interesting collection of skill sets and interests, both military and industry orientated, so whatever Corp we make will likely want to have access to both of these things rather than focus exclusively on one or the other, that said, there are lots of options.

From what I recall of the last push, B12 spent some time in a wormhole, living out of a POS. That's an option this time too, though I was wondering if people would rather try something else? There's living in Low-sec or even Null-sec, or just basing out of High-sec, with or without a POS. We could also delve into Incursions (pretty lucrative) or Faction Warfare to get some experience of PvP, perhaps with a goal of eventually turning to the life of mercenaries or pirates?

Finally, there is the question on how to set up the Corp?  Assuming that we do make one of our own, how will it be run? Will it all be 'serious internet space-ships' or a bit more relaxed, and of course will it be run with one person at the top or many? Over the years I've had the pleasure (and the burden) of being a part of many corps, the CEO of most of them and a director in most of the rest. I've been part of serious corps where it was run more like a business, with managers and senior managers etc, and others which were just a collection of friends who sometimes did stuff together, where there were no divisions of power (everyone was a director except the one person who, due to game mechanics, had to be a CEO).

Personally, I've usually found that groups of friends who do things together is much more friendly and welcoming to new players, and tends to build a better sense of camaraderie. There is a lot to be said about the top down approach to running a corp, but I kinda like the idea of a 'round table' of sorts, where at the very least, all the founders are considered equal, if not everyone. I also think it is generally better not to place too much responsibility on one person, and is part of the reason why I've mentioned to the others that I really don't have much interest in being a CEO again. As fun as it sometimes is, you do end up feeling like you're responsible for everyone having a good time, and can end up running yourself ragged setting up events, trying to make sure there's enough people attending, organising fleets and that only gets worse if the corp starts to turn into a business (the corp produces and sells items, rather than the individual members doing it for themselves.)

So for my part, I'd like to suggest that a fun corp where things aren't taken too seriously, where no one person ends up being responsible for the enjoyment of the others, and decisions are made as a group. Eve has a decent method for handling corporate votes, if we want to make things a little more official. But generally, just a place for B12 to group together, work towards a goal, having fun along the way. Maybe let the corp evolve into whatever it wants to be... if we evolve into a lean and mean merc corp, who turn war into a precise art-form, that's cool, but if we end up being a corp who runs the occasional low-sec roam, dabbles in a bit of industry and runs a few missions a night where anyone who's on is welcome to drop in or leave as they see fit, that's also cool :)

So, to summarise... tl;dr

We're looking at setting up a new corp, initially based in Ordion, but can put offices all over the place if other groups develop around other areas.

We need a corp name, something dorfy, with Armok in it, any suggestions?

We also need an icon, anyone have a preference? Colour, style, should it menace with spikes of awesome?

What should we focus on, something different from last time perhaps, or just see what happens? Some basic options are: Missioning, Industry (mining/manufacture), Incursions, Faction Warefare, living in a Wormhole, living in Low/Null-sec, being Pirates, being Mercs, being pirate-hunters.

How should it be run? With an iron fist? By a council of founders? By the people for the people? Or 'just chill out man, it's a game. Who cares?'?

Finally, don't worry if you can't join us in a new corp, you can still fly with us as often as you like!

July 5th - Morning
It would appear that behind his laboured laughing and crazed mutterings, the Rat had a reason for bringing us down here. A noble one, some might say. In the last episode we discovered that the Rat has a son, who has gone missing, and he'd like us to find him before anyone else does. In return, he will help us find where Randy's friends have been taken, and perhaps even where his family are. A reasonable trade, all things considered.

However, given that he has a vested interest in us getting out of this maze so we could find his son, I'm left wondering why he didn't give us back our bloody weapons!! Ugh... fine. In this episode we follow Randy as he fights his way back out of the Rat's maze and begins the hunt for his son, armed only with a slingshot and stubbornness. Will it be enough?

There seems to be a reasonable group of us that enjoy all sorts of activities, currently congregating down here in Ordion. From missioning to mining, though what we'll be doing on any particular day is pretty much down to who's on and what they fancy really, so if you do join us you will likely get some decent mining done, but there will be other times when there's a bunch of us out missioning instead.

As LordBucket has mentioned though, there's no real reason that I can think of, to start a whole new character in order to train into a different sort of activity. Eve isn't like many MMOs where you have a limited number of skill points, or that by training certain skills you'll train others more slowly. So I'd say just add more skills to your main character :D

I even do L3s with a cruiser (Navy Caracal) relatively easily. Bigger ships are not necessarily always better.

Anyways, have any solid plans for a mining trip or a low-sec roam or something materialized?

We're running some missions tonight, may do some mining if people are interested in it, but I think the day old players would like a little bit more isk behind them before we jump into a low-sec roam. But there's definite interest, so probably within the next few days, maybe the weekend. I would recommend those who come, run with the assumption whatever ship they take wont be coming back lol, and then if it does, that's a bonus, but if it doesn't, you'll likely have set aside enough money to cover it if that was your main missions ship.

Third day of Summer, Year Three:
The fates seem to have granted Spiderslaughter a brief respite these past few days. Everyone is still shaken by the sudden losses of so many, but work has continued. Perhaps a little faster than usual, I expect some of the Gnomes are trying to lose themselves in their work, a shelter from their grief.

But with much of the work done in preparation for our agricultural expansion, and the defensive walls enhanced even further, we find ourselves turning our focus to the imminent merchant arrival. It has been some time since we bartered with the caravans from the old country, either for wares or news. I hope they bring plenty of ore this time!

Right, looks like a small group of us will be mounting up and riding out tomorrow and the day after for missions, mining, and general shenanigans (the best sort!) Consider this a formal invite to any and all space Dwarves who might enjoy joining us. We don't have a solid time set, just a nebulous *all day* sort of thing, people can come and go as time allows. We'll be sallying forth from Ordion, in the Kor-Azor Region, in Amarr Empire sovereignty. If anyone needs help moving assets, let me know in game or here and I'm sure we can work something out :)

I imagine the focus will be on some low level missions, though if there are enough of us we can bump up the difficulty a bit to make things fun by taking higher level missions. I intend to fly comparable class ships (so frigates/destroyers/cruisers) to what everyone else' flying. I think it's generally more fun if everyone's punching about the same weight as it lets everyone feel more involved, if someone shows up in their disco battleship, it can be a bit disheartening if the people in frigates can't even get to the enemies before they pop in the distance, lol.

Not sure if there's any plan to do a low-sec roam, but if there's enough people and interest I think that'd be great. Even if we do nothing more than some semi-organised fleet manoeuvres and just tour a bit of low-sec to get a feel for flying in a group. If we do find some action though, the potential for fun would be high :D Cheap, easily replaceable ships would be a must, for that sort of thing though, because wherever there's fun, there's !!FUN!! ;)

First day of Summer, Year Three:
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I must record the deaths of several of our number during a prolonged siege by Cinderfragment and the Mants...

Duckman444 – Rancher
Brackattack – Chosen Undead
Eli – Soldier
TheTexver III – Soldier
PhantomKO7 – Soldier
MultiErikw – Soldier

Through a day and night of near constant battle these brave Gnomes were snatched from us, some due to the relentless assault of Ogre fists, but most to the one great weakness of all Gnomes. Loss of blood.

Thus, while summer has now begun anew, we feel no joy at the warmth and vigour that already spreads across the land. These are dark days for Spiderslaughter, and all thoughts now turn to what we could have done to prevent the tragedy of the past days...

I've run a few corps my current one for a few years, and been a director in far more (including a stint in a merc corp). But I'd rather keep things chill for the time being, let's not get bogged down with who, what, where, and why until we have a better handle on who's actually involved :)

Though I would say that although I know there are two of us around who are CEOs right now, I'd actually suggest we set up a new corp. Something uniquely Bay12, rather than simply pull everyone into an already existing entity. My corp has history, it's been in several wars, and so there's a bit of baggage (both good and bad), you know? But I can just transfer control to one of my alts, or hand the reigns to one of my directors. My diplomatic skills are pretty high, as my corp's been home to quite a diverse lot lol, and due to living out of POS while operating in wormholes, my anchoring skills are pretty good too. Speaking about POS, I've got significant standing with Amarr, enough that setting up a POS in High-sec would be fine.

But right now, myself and Spraypaint Junkie and Erisu will be based out of Ordion in Kor-Azor(Amarr Empire space) (Erisu shall be joining us midweek), a good spread of mission agents here, as well as fantastic mining and easy access to low-sec for the more adventurous. I'm happy to extend the same offer to others as I have to Erisu, if you have a few ships and other odds and ends and you're worried about carting it all down here, I can come help with that. So assuming it's only a few frigates/destroyers you will likely only have to bring whatever ship you're currently flying. Amarr's not far away though, so if there are things you just want to sell and then buy again when you arrive, that's also an option :)

As there are a couple of us playing now, I was thinking it'd be fun to fleet up and do something together. Mission running, low-sec roam, ninja-salvaging, or even mining if there are enough people who're interested.

Post here if there's interest and we'll work out the logistics and what to do/time to do it from there. I know many of us are spread out a bit, so expect to have to make a couple of jumps before we can all meet up, but in the mean time, I'll likely be running some missions later tonight or tomorrow in the Kor-Azor region, likely near to Ordion. If anyone'd like to join just give me a nudge :)

Eleventh day of Spring, Year Three:
During the past several days work has progressed surprisingly well on filling in a portion of the lake, and thus expanding the room we have to farm and tend animals. However, with Spring coming to a close, and warriors from Cinderfragment arraying beyond our walls, the decision was made that we would have to launch an expedition to deal with them before the inevitable Summer Gnomad migration.

Therefore, I have just issued the order to have our bone doorway taken down, that our eager military can deal with the Goblin besiegers. However, a Mant has already been sighted just beyond the nearest hill, will the military have time to deal with these Goblins before the Mant reaches the gatehouse?

I ran through the business and industrial tutorials today... I'd never really gotten into that side of things before(except a bit of small scale frigate mining). It was actually an interesting change of pace. Started in on the exploration tutorial before I realized how late it was and how tired I am. What I saw was really interesting... that's a part of the game that I'd never even touched before.

What's your in game name mate?

Ditto, I generally keep my drones passive as it avoids them doing stupid things. Instead I have (much as Silfurdreki) rebound F to issue an attack command for my drones. It does mean that I need to target lock my opponent for them to be useful, so jammers are a pain, but if that situation occurs, you can always set them to aggressive, pull them in, then re-deploy them and they should auto engage.
