Other Games / Re: Warhammer40K MMO

By MMOFPS I mean something where you could have a battle involving at least 500 people on each side, all fighting on a single continuous maps (so you can get killed by artillery that's ten miles away from you). If you can only have a hundred or so total players in a single battle, than what you have is just a MMO lobby for a normal FPS.

I can't believe I forgot to mention Black Isle RPGs. Fallout might be a tad inappropriate, and Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment are a bit too talky for him, but Icewind Dale should be just perfect.

Though I think they'll add in more stuff then what you just saw, because otherwise, though I love Warhammer 40K, it seems like I'd have more fun playing Too Human then the Space Marine game that's coming out.

And yes, the finisher move highlights, which besides giving you more rich backgrounds to look at for a few minutes before moving on to kill the next Chaos Space Marines, doesn't seem like much. I'll likely wait for a friend to tell me how it is before I even think of buying it.

As for the MMO, which is a little more on topic...

I think it won't be so interesting, if it isn't an FPS. If its another Third Person RPG with guns, then screw it, I'd rather shell out a monthly fee for Steam and play some good games that WON'T kill my PC. However, if they managed, and I tell you, I hate MMO's for over-hype and MANY other reasons, to make an awesome FPS Warhammer 40K game, where PVP brings to mind an awesome mass battle like DoW, then I might shell out some money to play.

But usually, as WH Online wasn't all that great in my eyes, games that *should* have been awesome, are far below the mark. MMO's not excluded.

No more RPG crap. Grinding trails. Equipment Sales. And no more goddamn idiotic communities that I just want to drown in a toilet.

WorkerDrone, has spoken.
Keep dreaming. MMOFPSes are impossible with the current equipment. They'd require way more bandwidth than anyone has, and the servers would need processing power that even NASA would envy.

Stone Soup has a graphical version with quite readable tiles. And it's as simple as roguelikes get, especially if you play a berserker. I'm not sure if you want your son to butcher and eat sentient beings, though.

Hey, at least he's bringing food to the table.

Their only failure is that they didn't air the fights to betting parlors in Japan.

Screw guns. I've got some land mines I stashed after the war in Bosnia. Makes hunting a lot less tedious as you don't have to stand around and wait.

Good luck with that. But you do give me a good idea.

I want this game but nobody in my family has a credit card (we live in Bosnia). If somebody needs some service performed that's worth about 3$ (one or two hours of my time) I'm willing to perform it in exchange for an URW single version license. I've got a bit of C++ skills and a bit of GIMP skills (see my avatar for example).

Ooh, can I get one? All the cool kids want one.

If there's profit, someone will always come to reap it. If you crush a drug cartel another one will spring up in it's place. So there's really no way to crush them, short of turning the whole South America into a glass crater.

Problem is, it can be very difficult to prove some subtle disruptions to your business (which can still cause significant financial loss). Crying discrimination, on the other hand, is too damn easy, as everyone and their grandmother belongs to some sort of a minority (be it ethnic, disability, religious or any other kind).

I can see the need for the current US laws regarding this, but I don't like them.

I too firmly believe that private businesses have every right to deny service on whatever basis they want, be it sex, attire, race, creed, hair colour or no basis at all (ie "I just don't like you" basis).

Actually, the expansion civs are pretty well balanced. If you want proof, let's play a game, you pick Huns or whichever x-pack civ you want and I'll take some original civ like Byzantines or Turks and you'll see you're wrong.

*All* ranged weaponry? You've never run into massed Korean Siege Onagers, have you?
