DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Frazzled with the update (adventure type)
« on: November 02, 2007, 04:35:00 pm »
Human towns are spread out as all sin, and I'm lucky if I find one building other than the Town Hall, which I'm forced to go to (death sentence for outlaw player-types).

Dwarf fortresses are, likewise, well hidden, and as soon as I find one the thing is so massive that I'm lucky to find one peasant milling about, and if I'm an outlaw I can't travel after I get lost in their enormous depth trying to find prey (unsuccessfully).

caves, towers, whatevers are also impossible to find.

Also, performance (fps) has dropped considerably.

Am I just stupid?  Is no one else experiencing such frustrations?

I'm aware that this is a new update, but I'd simply like to air my grievances.

Is this possible with an evaporated murky pool?  And, how do I do this exactly?
Thanks!

I admit to NOT having done as said, but having tried this, I'm still getting no dice..  Any other suggestions?

Thanks a lot for the suggestions so far

Afraid not... I'm at a volcano area near a river, but my local area was not large enough to get said river.  Here's a small bit of the world map.

I'm the volcano (red ^) in the center

Well, I've designated the murky pool, I've made it accessible, I've made sure I have empty buckets... but no dice. They still cry out for a water source before they can "give water," as it were.  Any other ideas?

I seem unable to designate such pools as water sources
(Or wait, they simply lack the "Water Source" number, I can still designate, how odd...)

Thanks!  :D

I'm rather afraid that my region is devoid of water, save for murky pools.  This isn't a problem normally, as I can simply brew and farm in overtime to cover the problem, but what should I do about injured dwarves?  Are they simply doomed to die of thirst?
