Lost my internet connection for 2 days, besides that, I'm really busy with RL now. But hey, if I won't manage to do anything epic in time, I still can just leave a blood-soaked sock in the museum, right?

I'm playing as Chuck Norris peasant. It's more fun that it should be.

K, I will start my turn tomorow. I just got out of a long bath after 10 hours of LARP-ing in full military outfit, about 35 degrees IN SHADOW... I barely can force myself to write this.

Why do you care about MAKING weapon? You're a barbarian! Steal them! Kill the previous owner and take it as a trophy! Drop several tons of stones on next trading caravan and loot at least 5 =steel axes= from their corpses!

Or just build your camp in that way the enemy will be forced to run from one side of it to another, while your bowdwarves will have plenty of time to shoot him. It has to be primitive, but even elves know how to dig trenches/moats and make wooden barricades.

Build him a farming plot, a still and a kitchen, then close the drawbridge behind him. Leave him there for several years. Never worry about his unhappy thoughts again.

Just been wondering. Bashing with crossbow uses hammer skill. You can give your crossbowdwarves second weapon, but they won't use it... BUT.
What about giving them a masterwork silver crossbow and some lame, copper hammer, setting their shedule to train, nothing, nothing, train(...) and removing all their labors? This way, they should sped 2 months at archery range and 1 practicing with hammers - giving them some skill to bash gobbos with crossbows more efficently. The only problem here is that I want my crossbowdwarves to use shields, and I don't know any way to tell them "this month, crossbow and hammer, this month, shield and hammer"...

That depends of what you want to kill. It's good to give axes and hammers, and some spears to your military, but you should consider forging a little of everything, even if it will just lay in the weapons stockpile.
Axes and maces can quickly kill anything weak and organic.
Spears and axes with some luck can kill everything that is not a metal blob.
Spears and hammers won't take much time turning a fully =steel= armored foe into a bloody pulp.
Short swords will do everything, but not even nearly as good as other, specialised weapons.
And picks... Picks is generally something that you would get from mixing spear and hammer raws. It crushes bones, it pierces organs.

Why so small?
5 towers. That's why. I have to preserve as much of my framerate as I can, if I don't want it to slow down to 0,3 FPS during 5 simultaneous sieges.

Yeah, that would be nice. But when he gets close to my dwarves, they cancel everything and run for their lives, and he... does the same. But with dwarves/husk out of sight, husk/dwarves decide to try doing that task again, go back, see dwarves/husk... I should probably ask Goomba Geek to draw it.

Zombie siege in my *first* fort. My first first fort died because I was such a noob it wasn't even fun trying to fix all the mistakes I made. Around 15 casualities from 96 dwarves. Mostly militia because I have no idea how to keep them from charging 30 zeds bare fisted. They see any enemy, they run like hell in their direction, ignoring the safety of fortifications and (even one with artifact mechanism and =weapons=!) traps. FML. Or rather FMDwarves. It wasn't my fault they died.

You can't do anything with "economic stones"... but jet isn't one of them. Maybe the boulders are forbbiden or out of reach? Or your workshop is set to *take from*?
