Legion Commander is only amazing if she wins duels. It's a little like playing against a Bounty Hunter. If you feed him and his team a few track kills, he'll start steamrolling, you'll give up more track kills, he'll steamroll harder, and before long he's running around with Deso + MKB, one-shotting your supports. If you don't give him the opportunity to start rolling, he's worthless.

Same with LC. If she doesn't win duels early, she's left with a situational nuke, a variant of Aphotic Shield, a passive that will never trigger before she explodes, and a melee-range Fiend's Grip that's slightly harder to cancel, but feeds the enemy carry 10 damage every time she uses it. Shut her down early, and she's worthless.

Now, Earth Spirit on the other hand... even with the nerfs, he's got an 1100 range AoE stun, at least a 3.5 second AoE silence, incredible mobility on a 4-second cooldown, a spammable skill that knocks people out of position even through BKB, and an obnoxious AoE DoT (which, hilariously, is the weakest part of his kit - not because Magnetize is weak, but because everything else is insanely powerful).  :o

Yep, that still works, though I'm not sure what the attack speed thresholds are. He can also use items while Omnislashing. This includes TP scrolls, which keep channeling while you slash. If you're at a high enough level, it takes more than 3 seconds to slash, and you can literally TP home while invulnerable.  :o

Scorpions? Sure, I will take care of those for you...

Shit, they are the size of a small car.

Tip if you're new to fallout- If you are told about some animal somewhere, and it sounds minor, it's not.  Chances are it's a giant mutated monster who sees your power armor as being nice tin foil wrapping for his meal.
Except Deathclaws. Contrary to the name and appearance, they're nice and friendly.

They even have some funny lines! Go up to them and talk! Just don't shoot at them, or you'll scare them away.

... izzat what the thing's for? Comp's crappy enough what I have to do to it to make DotA2 run decently renders the in-game text mostly incomprehensible. I can't read the popup that comes from that bar at all, heh.

But ah, shame. Probably won't get any more games in, then, unless they keep it around afterwards.
I really doubt it'll end when the bar fills. Seriously, it launched late yesterday. Most events last ~2 weeks, not 2 days.  ;)

Plus, some of us still have 250+ minutes left on our buff. To be fair, I paid for it with my first 2250 reward box... people are spending a lot on these rewards.

Even Normal will stomp you, if you don't have a decent team.  :D

Findings so far:

Veno is... interesting. Mass wards are cool, and getting free Gale casts through your wards is really neat. Feels a little like playing Tower Defense. Can't do a lot once his wards fall and the team's being overrun, though.

Lina feels really weak. As in, not a lot of use for her spells, and she's useless once they're all cast. Her ult in particular is a waste of a skill point. I was hoping Fiery Soul would make her a machine-gun DPSer... maybe I just built her wrong.

SF is awesome. Single targets explode to right-clicks, razes obliterate hordes.

Axe is cool. Battle Hunger is now an ally-targeted buff that grants life-steal... on all damage sources. Meaning right-clicks, counterhelix procs, SF razes, CM ultis... yeah. His ult is also AoE!

Just Cause 2, Far Cry 3, and probably a couple of other semi-open-world games:

Avoid game mechanics that limit my options. So many games present you with a vast array of options for handling problems, but then withhold half of them, or penalize you for using them. "You can kill everybody, or you can sneak past them... but everybody in the game will yell at you if you opt to kill people, you dirty murderer." Or "You can kill them, or sneak past them... but since you used all your skill points to know which end of a gun is dangerous, stealth isn't an option. And then we'll yell at you for not building a stealthy pacifist."

Far Cry 3 lets you stealth through outposts, picking bad guys off one at a time with your machete. Or lure the enemies out with noises, then light the jungle on fire and roast them. Or drive in with a technical and mow people down with a mounted machine gun. Or sic a tiger on them. I can do all of these things with minimal skill point investments, and (besides giving extra experience awards) the game doesn't care how I handle each situation. I'm not limited by my upgrades, and I'm not trying to figure out what solution yields the right alignment points. I'm walking up to an encampment and thinking, "So, what tools do I feel like using this time?"

I'll stop posting these now... but how could I resist one last line? I just hope I never hear it in a pub game...

I hope SK gets permanently trashed. What would we really lose, other than a chance to be forced to play that skillshot hero in all random?

Well, you'd miss this brand-new voice clip.

In other news, the king is dead, long live the Wraith King! And Legion Commander, though sadly not the other two heroes that had been indirectly hinted at. Plus, a new festive game mode for items and stuff.

I kinda forgot that when spamming Storm of the Century.

Besides, this is my savescumming run. I've accidentally killed Redcliffe before and I'll likely do it again, but right now I don't want to just because of a detail I forgot at 2 in the morning.
Just to fuel your OCD... it's possible to save everyone in the village, through copious abuse of healers. If memory serves, you get a special helmet(?) for it.

Don't forget the most important thing: Valve is actually communicating with the community. Do you think they've learned from the two-sided disaster that was Diretide? Because that was just depressing.

After a lengthy skirmish, I'm already injured, and my weapons are in need of a reload. With one smooth shotgun blast, I dispatch one last leopard.

"But no!", says the game, as two more well-armed murderers hear my gunshot, and come running up the hill to kill me. I slay one with a well-aimed headshot, but the other takes a few more bursts, and gets a few solid hits on me before going down.

Then, just as I'm getting ready to heal and reload... another leopard sneaks up on me. I fire one shotgun blast in a panic, and miss. The leopard doesn't give me a second chance.

Well, it's the norm in some games. Okay, maybe a lot of them. In fact, even Payday 2 (whose devs I usually bring up as an example of how to do DLC properly) have just announced a weapons DLC pack.

But my logic has always been: don't buy spurious DLC packs. If the game has optional weapons, ignore them unless you really want to support the devs. If the game basically requires you to buy DLC, wait a few years for the GotY edition to be 75% off before buying. Worst case, you play games a few years behind schedule. Best case, devs get the message and stop selling $50 games with $100 in extra DLC. I can hope, right?

Brutal Legend is okay. For $2, I'd say it's worth it. It's a fun little action romp with an interesting setting and decent gameplay. Just don't be surprised when it transforms from a decent hack-n-slash to a mediocre RTS halfway through.

Really considering getting the Stanley Parable. I've heard really good things about it, at least. Can anyone make a recommendation (either textual, or a nice review)?

Anyone play Payday 2? How is it? Worth the sale price?

EDIT:
While at it, what about Civ 5?
Payday 2 is worth it if you like co-op shooters. The content's arguably a bit short - there's only ~20 maps, half of which are stealth-based instead of shooting-based. Random elements give the maps a bit more randomization, though. The bank map, for instance - it's always the same map, but there are 2 different places where the vault door can be, 2 possible locations for the security room, a bunch of possible places for security cameras, it's random whether the bank manager holds the keycard or has it on his desk, and the escape van can be in one of several locations.

It's a lot of fun when you're running stealth missions with friends, and still very fun when playing combat levels with randoms.

Civ V with Gods and Kings is fun. No opinion on Brave New World - I just bought it, haven't had a chance to try it yet though.  :)
