If someone is interested, Gunpoint has a really refreshing atmosphere. It's not the best of puzzle games, being rather easy and after some time - quite repetitive - but it's worth the money. It does have some great humor.

Just FYI for anyone considering this: use the developer's official site instead. The developer is matching the price of the Steam Sale (so $6 for the next ~6 hours), you get a DRM-free download and a Steam key, and more of the money goes directly to the developer!

Either way, happy to hear it, and looking forward to the LP!

If you're going for a no-death run, here's hoping you'll do better than I did!  :)
No deaths is mandatory when playing Fire Emblem. :)

Unless you're playing FE: Shadow Dragon, in which case killing off nearly everybody is a perfectly viable play-style.  ;)

Second question, then: which campaigns? Will you bother with Hector's story, or just move on to SS when the main story's finished?

More than 3 people watching? Fine, I'll suck it up and be a fourth. :P

For what it's worth, I remember playing FE7 on a GBA when I was young, so save state scumming was replaced with really cautious play and a lot of chapter restarts (missed basically every bonus mission, didn't realize how many I missed until years later). I beat the entire game without a single death... except for the final chapter, when the boss killed two of my guys. I couldn't bring myself to replay the entire final mission and the final fight. If you're going for a no-death run, here's hoping you'll do better than I did!  :)

So far I've been enjoying Reus... but there's a few aspects that are really obtuse. Seriously, would it kill the devs to have a tech tree readily available in-game, instead of making me pop off to the wiki? (Never mind that the wiki's pretty terrible, having at best stubs and data dumps for pretty much every topic of interest.)

Once I figured out the basics - how to manage greed, what some simple symbiosis combos were - I started having a bunch more fun with it. It's a very calming game, and I've been having fun pairing it with a secondary monitor and a Twitch stream to keep me amused. Still, I can't see where the depth comes from, besides figuring out how to complete some of the more ridiculous optional objectives ("5 tiles of water", yeah, if you ever bothered expanding over water tiles!).

Sadly, the aliens will eventually (if they haven't already) deploy Bombers with the Multi-Bomb Launcher, which targets and basically destroys every Hoverbike in range with a single shot. According to the wiki, they show up later in the game, and usually only when attacking enemy buildings directly, but it's still a bit of a risk.

Speaking of which... yeah. If the aliens decide to deploy an attack force to wipe out XCOM RES, I don't think there's a big chance of the base surviving. Good thing I'm not giving them tactical advice!  :)

Not a bad result for two alien squads + hostile Superdynamics mercs! Nicely done!

That said... are you going to have problems with killing UFOs? You'll have to win the air battle someday. Maybe cult raiding until you can afford 2 Air Warriors might be viable? Or 1 Warrior to tank while a hoverbike swarm deals damage? I might be mistaken, but I think you'll need to down some UFOs to get the tech to build your own (which are awesome and necessary to win). It's not going to get any easier to get kills once the late-game UFOs show up.   :'(

pon for honour and victory?

oh boy the implications

...what did I just watch o.O

the reason pon will not stand for honour and victory

it will stand for "oh god i'm on drugs" instead

objections?

For this civilization? I'm pretty sure we can use the same word for both "honour" and "heavily drugged".

Was trying to catch Rayquaza. Was down to my lvl 26 Swablu whose only purpose is flying me around. Thought to throw a normal Pokéball because, I mean, it was at full health and I was gonna have to reset anyway, so why not?
Yeah, I actually caught it. At full health. With a normal ball.

Pokémon Emerald

Rayquaza has a capture rate of 3. This means, at full health, you had a ~0.4% chance of capturing it at full health with a regular Pokeball.

Congratulations, you lucky bastard.  :)

there's one puzzle involving spiders and an elevator that's positively brutal.

Ye gods, don't mention that part. That was more hell than Overlord 1's entire expansion, which is set in Hell.
Fun fact: during the Zero Punctuation review of Overlord 2, Yahtzee specifically called out that damnable puzzle as the thing that made him stop playing. At the time, I too had stopped playing the game... for the exact same reason.  >:(

(Tip: It's a lot easier if you rally all your Greens, then recall only one of them. You can then sweep with only a single minion, which feels more responsive. As an added bonus, you don't lose all your elite Greens when you almost finish a section, fail at the last moment, and your sweepers plummet off the wall and die on impact with the floor. I really wish I'd figured this out the first time I tried it! It also might be easier with a controller/analog stick, which is what the silly Sweep mechanic was designed for in the first place.)

Abaddon's big weaknesses is kiting. He can purge CC effects with Shield and/or Ult, but then you have to go through the cast animation. He's got nothing to handle enemies with higher speed or constant CC (Frost Arrows, Orb of Venom/Skadi).

He looks like he'd be a good trilane support, maybe even an aggressive trilane support in conjunction with a #5 stunner. Shield lets your team be extra-reckless, Death Coil provides good sustain, and one point in the passive gives a reliable 15% speed boost to your team and 5% slow on the enemy. I'm seeing him working a lot like Undying, but trading the awesome pushing power of Tombstone for the superior killing potential of Curse and the extra survivability of Shield + Coil (vs Soul Rip). Get the stunner to disable a target, then rush in and hit them once. If the enemy team tries to focus someone, shield them followed by a coil.

Abadon's debuff works on denies too. I feel that it's a bug. It allows for too much lane control, buffing enemy creeps.

Oh god, that's ridiculous. Also possibly risky (giving the enemy heroes a 15% speed boost is never a good thing!), but still interesting. The wiki claims it also works on towers, meaning the note I made above about "not pushing as well as Undying's Tombstone" might not be true - hit a tower once, and the creeps get 10% more attack speed!

... so, uh. Any of you folks have an opinion on Overlord? It, its expansion, and the sequel are going for about five bucks right now, and I've run into it enough in fanfiction crossovers I'm somewhat tempted.

I enjoyed it. Think Pikmin (if you've played it). It's certainly not going to blow your mind, but it's an enjoyable enough game. Make sure you get the expansion - it's incredibly well-integrated into the main story, adding new content as the adventure progresses (while still making sense if you play it after beating the main story), and adding a considerably better ending too. Honestly, it's IMO one of the examples of how best to add expansions to a game.

The second is basically more of the first, with a couple of minor tweaks (mostly to magic). There's a few changes I didn't really like - Dominating towns was obnoxious and boring, and there's one puzzle involving spiders and an elevator that's positively brutal. If you enjoyed the first, I'd recommend it.

Overall, probably worth it, especially for $5.00.

After over 50 hours of gameplay, an accidental mistype taught me the wonders of Earth Armour. Even better, Earth Armour with a Fire immunity aura at the same time. Between that, a heavy machine gun, and my love of Napalm calldowns, I cleared the entire Vietnam mission solo (with all optional objectives, too!). Not easy, given that you can be killed by a single slip-up, and there's no ability to revive when playing this level on your own!

Just a friendly reminder (since I'm not sure it's been mentioned yet), but Just Cause 2 is 80% off right now, selling for the low, low price of $3.00.

Seriously, guys. If you're one of the 7 people on the planet that haven't played JC2 yet, buy it. It's three freaking dollars for a game that will entertain you for 50+ hours, easily. Blow up military installations! Tie infantrymen to passing jets! Base jump off blimps! Hijack cars in the middle of high-speed chases! It's an experience everyone ought to have at least once. $3.00, people.

Thing is, trilanes work well in competitive games largely because there's a level of trust and skill comprehension. Dual lanes give you a pretty good chance of getting two heroes farmed, while trilanes give you a nearly-guaranteed chance of getting one hero farmed, while pretty much sacrificing all farm on the other lane. (Does not apply to aggressive trilanes, of course.)

In a pub game, putting all your eggs in one basket like this is usually a bad idea, as you will quickly discover when your safe-lane PL dives the enemy T2 at 3 minutes and then shouts 'CYKA' after giving up first blood with an awesome 3 CS. Pro gamers can generally assume that their teammate is competent in the #1 position.  ;)
