Roll To Dodge / Re: Evolved: Up the Ladder
« on: April 22, 2013, 02:34:37 am »
((Wow, Lenglon.  :o That's...detailed))

You gather near the villagers, them sharpening their weapons and practicing their shots with their crossbows. Erin bends down and starts drawing a diagram on the floor, while describing her plan to the group. After it is discussed, you tell the villagers and they get to work immediately on the traps. They run out and funneling the road to make it as per Erin's specifications. Nectarius splits them into groups, one looking for dangerous things and the other making the ramp. The first one find some barrels of oil in the village and spill it unto the floor.

It takes around two hours, and the sun has finally set. The villagers are slowly returning to the fortifications; but suddenly, one Evolved falls to the ground, a big, gaping hole in his back filled with a purplish sizzling liquid. The villagers look at his corpse, his mouth gurgling with the same liquid. They run back, screaming, and following them were more balls of purple liquid falling in the sky. One by one, the villagers fall to the ground, melting. Quite a few have already died, and the rest are terrified.

The people on the towers and the barricades shoot at the Thralls, now closing in quickly. They appear to be moving in a group, but not very cohesively. They shamble about, knocking over each other. The villagers and the Aquisitioners took advantage of this, shooting at them and managing to cut down their ranks quickly. The battle is at your side now, your organization beating their uncoordinated shooting and clawing. The villagers cheer at their near-victory.

Suddenly, at the face of victory, a taller looking Thrall steps in and screams. The noise is deafening; many of the villagers collapse on the floor, the Aquisitioners merely put on their helmets and continue on shooting. The Thralls gather around him, raising their bio-guns and aiming at the barricade in unison. They shoot, and the purple liquid dissolves holes in the wall. The tall Thrall screams once more, and many smaller Thralls rush in, armed with scythe-hands or club-fists. They all rush into the holes and slaughter the forward defense, breaking the barriers and ramps. The Aquisitioners are faring better, but not by much. They cut down many, some by sword, other by gun, and the leader simply fights with his hands.

You can see the leader Thrall's face much more clearly now. He looks like Quar! He is much taller than before, with the same sad face he had right before he took his life. On his head are ten, thin knives, stabbed onto his head. His two eyes have been clawed out, now empty holes. His third eye is now completely open, looking violently around to ensure maximum inefficiency from his minions. He looks at the village and screams:

"FATHER! TRAITOR! WHY? WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO MEEEE? WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO BROTHER? WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO OUR HOME? OUR VILLAGE?"

He screams loudly, rushing with as much fervor as his minions, slashing those who got in his way, screaming "father" over and over. Behind him is a great rumbling, and soon, the large creature described by the Aquisitioner leader appears. It is like a large, carapaced elephant, with a trunk and two monstrous arms. It rumbles as it moves across, smashing many tiny Thralls beneath his heel.

The barriers are broken and many villagers have already died. The only entrance is being besieged by monstrous nightmares, and the other sides are just cliff-sides. The Aquisitioners have only lost two of their number, both being taken by surprise. What do you do now?

Hm? I think I'm doing it wrong, but... My priority A is abilities; and my attributes add up to 20. My B is Skills, which adds up to 15 in total. My C is Race; and I've already changed it from dwarf to human. Could you point out the wrong parts, please?

((Thanks Errol! Post up soon!))

Your party descends towards the hills, slowly marching onward. Albert stops for a while, then points his wand up and commands fire to go to the Temple. The fire goes in zig-zags, turning left and right. Then you hear a voice speaking, in a tongue you have never heard of before: "D'zpell!" The fire suddenly dissipitates, and you feel a sudden pang in your heart.

R'cee decides to try something. He points his wand towards the water and transfers the water to the group. ((I think that's what you meant, did Urk mean us or did you mean Erk?)) Joe also points his wand to the air and creates life! The life wasn't, however, intelligent. It falls and flops on the ground, rolling and squirming. It looks like a big blob of sinewy flesh...

Aira tries to make another form of life; she whispers a sentence and creates a cold flame, capable of good basic thought. It hovers around you, but you feel weakened due to the long sentence; now you have forgotten a lot of words, and it will be a while until you remember them again.

Your party finally makes it to the hill; you see some seagulls and pelicans flying about. You can hear some monkeys off to the jungle, too. The sky is still bright, and you enjoy the cool, sea breeze. The smell is very displeasant, however. You can smell blood coming from inside the caves below, and you can hear their jittery baa's.

The men soon arrive afterwards, carrying building supplies. They start putting up tents and building a fire; but those Goatlugs' cave is just below the large hill, which is ideal for camp due to the good vantage point, but dangerous unless the Goatlugs are cleared out. One of the men walks up to you and asks for orders.

What now?

I meant that Joey has ruby-eyes AND metallic teeth. Though, it would be cool and frightening with teeth-eyes... Imagine the fear factor!  :o
Oh, and modified my character sheet to make it more acceptable.

So, I can't be a dwarf with C Racial Priority? Aight. I'll change it later once I get on a laptop. Can my cyberware be ruby-shaped eyes with metallic gold studded teeth? Ooh, and a spiky collar! But, I'm not sure if those are actually cyberware... meh.

Name: Joey "Flashbang" Jovinski
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Appearance: Joey lost most of his hair due to a bomb setting off. It blinded him and he lost many of his teeth. Joey remedied this by going to an unlicensed cyberware vendor and replacing his melted eyes with ruby-shaped, cybernetic ones and replaced his dangling teeth with metallic, ruby-studded ones. These upgrades, however, weren't cheap. Now Joey joins the Brawl to pay for his pricey features.
Bio: Joey has always loved big explosions, the crowds have always loved big explosions, and Joey loves the crowd. He treats the Brawl like a stage; entertaining the crowd during the most crucial of moments. This has caused him to not get paid on several occasions, therefore missing his due with the cyberware gangsters.
Position: Blaster
Priorities: A: Attributes B: Skills C: Race
Attributes: Agility: 3
                 Body: 2
                 Dexterity: 3
                 Intelligence: 4

[I can't tell if I succeed with gusto, or if that's a typo. I will say I'd be impressed if I rolled a natural twenty one though. So if I'm reading the roll right, I rolled a twenty one, which is added to my INT of one, which is subtracted to the DC of nine.]

((You rolled with 4d8, and that resulted in 21. +1 for your Int. I rolled for a DC with a 1d10))

((Sorry again! Posting now! Um, just pretend that the chieftain told you to build the barricade to the north  :P))

After Erin tells her plan to the party, she soars up to the air and looks around the area. (4+Int 2-DC 4) You find that the village only has one slope to it's entrance to the north. The other sides are just cut-off hillsides. The slope coming up has one main road, and three smaller roads leading up to it. The area that Clair first encountered the things is not far; at most a kilometer from here. There is one relatively tall tower just outside the village; it looks like it could hold up to three men.

Jackal looks around the village entrance, designing a mental image in his mind on what would be most ideal. (21+Int 1-DC 9) You manage to design a fairly safe design. You think that you should put sharpened logs on the ditch, and build a wall behind it; preferably made of wood, sandbags, or loose rocks. The ditch is about 10 m deep, and is around 30 m wide, nearly reaching the end of the cliff. You think that if you start filling it with water now, you might be able to fill it to the brim in time. With the plan in mind, all you need now are workers to retrieve the materials and start working.

Nectarius runs around town, calling to people in the square. You call for help, and try to get their attention. (6+Cha 2-DC 3) They listen intently on your pleas. They immediately run to their houses and come back out, fully armed and fully armored. They rush to Jackal and ask for his instructions. Some have already brought their axes and hammers, and one evolved with four arms is bring a whole load of wood.

Meanwhile, Clair and Inter head over to the Aquisitioners and ask for their help. The guards stop you and aim their Shooters at you. You tell them what's happening, but they don't listen. Eventually, their leader comes and when he hears about the things, he orders the guards to let you pass.

"Ah, the Thralls have troubled you too, eh?" he chuckles. "We, too, have been troubled by the vermin. You see, when we first arrived in the Galapagosian Quarantine, there was a Wall which we could not fly over. So, we blew up a large hole. We thought of colonizing the floors first, as our scans couldn't detect any life signatures. Our scans were wrong. Oh, so wrong..."

"After the first week, our men had been strangely disappearing. We searched for them, but could not find them. Eventually, we found them. They changed, though. They were different. Changed. Warped. They started attacking us, their numbers swelling. We managed to put some of them down, but they started screaming. They were... calling something. Some of our men could not handle it, succumbing to the screams and going mad. Shouting 'Qz' or something. The larger Thralls arrived; one in particular, was very memorable to me,"

"The beast was a behemoth, dwarfing many of our tanks. It walked on four large legs. It had a long neck, and four large arms. It pushed us back outside the Wall in less than an hour. My team and I could not make it in time; and so, we were left here. We will lend our aid," he says calmly, with strange looks from the soldiers. He quickly dismissed their looks and ordered them to help with the barricade and supply you with shooters.

Kira heads to the shop, looking for the armor-smith. He is picking up his weapons and heading to the entrance. You call out to him; he stops and turns.

"Why hello! Have you heard? Monsters are coming! If you need weapons, just take them from the store! Don't worry, you look like a trustable young lady! You can pay me later!" he says, rushing off to join the help.

Now, nearly the whole village is at the entrance, awaiting instructions. The Aquisitioners are also there, cleaning and maintaining their shooters. The children are helping, too. They are picking up stones for their slings, and helping carry wood for the barricade. The sun will set soon; so it seems that it's best to hurry.

((Wait, did I forget anything? Anyways, sorry for being late...  :P))

Updated the character sheet. You start at day time; the ghouls have left so you can prepare and discuss what to do. Game starts with four more players. I'll PM the necromancer.
