Creative Projects / Re: Warhammer 40,000 Succession Story

So, what my suggestions for if we choose the Grey Knights is a Space Marine who struggles between whether he should accept the honour of being chosen as a Grey Knight, or if we wishes to keep what 'free' will he has left.

Torn between choosing to serve wholeheartedly, to struggle to keep himself faithful, to keep himself loyal. Or to become completely devoted to the Emperor, in mind, body and spirit. What would be greater sacrifice to a soldier, to give yourself up and become a weapon in the name of the Emperor? Or to bear a weapon and fight for the Emperor?

And my suggestion for the Chaos cultist: I think that he should be a lower class Imperial colonist, living on a world far from Terra. He aspires to serve the Emperor in the Inquisition, not knowing how they deal with their many problems. As he grows older, something or someone is taken from him by the Inquisition, destroying the foundations of his adoration for the Imperium. He looks for a way to bring back the stolen item or person, and to stop the Inquisition and their unforgiving ways. Now he must use what he hates to destroy what he loves.

These are just suggestions. Feel free to change the story anyway you want. Oh, and for the chapters, they can be as long as you want them to be, although I'd say at least around, oh I don't know, 400-500 words minimum. I won't actually count, but not too short or too long.

So, anymore suggestions or votes for previous suggestions?

Do we have to write something based on the prompts or can we write something else? I've had this story that I had wanted to write but I needed some people who could help point out flaws and improvements.

 Anyways:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It seems kind of weird. It sounded better in my head... So, could you guys give me some critique on this? Comments, mistakes, anything. I'm trying to improve my writing skill for my English class, so I thought I could practice here. Also, if we have to write the prompt, I think I have an idea for an invisible passenger. I'll write that tomorrow. In the meantime, thanks for the tips in advance, and thanks for the tips you had posted before. They were really helpful.

So, I was thinking of a sort-of improv story writing thread about Warhammer 40,000. For those who don't know what Warhammer is, it is a tabletop wargame where you command an army of painted miniatures to either destroy the opposing team or capture points on a player-made board.

The story is set in a dystopian sci-fi universe, filled with green-skinned Orks, psychic Eldar, ravenous alien Tyranids, and immortal, skeletal-looking Necrons. The Humans have colonised many worlds, all brought together under the banner of the Imperium, guarded by superhuman Space Marines. All of the xenos above wish to destroy this empire, but the Imperium's most dangerous enemy hides amongst it's walls. This enemy is called Chaos, filled with heretics, cultists, and Chaos Space Marines who worship the Four Ruinous Powers.

Please read the Warhammer wikia for most of the information, it has tons of articles about Warhammer that I can't fit here. It is very fluff-filled, and many of it's games have very deep plots, in my opinion.

Anyways, I was thinking that we write different chapters of a story in different posts, kinda like improv in drama. So, I want to know if anyone wants to join, and which race to write about.

Rules:  1. No blocking (etc. not allowing others to write because, for example: Derpus found a big, red button which could blow up the universe and he pressed it, destroying everything.)
            2. Don't ruin another person's plot (etc. Writer 1: Derpus' found a map that could help him find a weapon to stop the Orks. Writer 2: Then Derpus, overcome with rage for no reason, tore the map and returned home.)
            3. Grammar (You're bad at grammar, NOT your bad at grammar.)
            4. Accuracy (Please read the wiki if you're unsure if what you're writing is correct, you don't have to be precise about everything, just remember that the Orks leader is NOT called Thrall and that there is no Arthas!)
            5. Seriousness (Just as much seriousness as you can handle without becoming humourless and boring.)
            6. Have fun (Write anything you want, just follow the rules and respect the other works!)

First, which race should our character be from? They can be from whichever race with any allegiance. It could be about an Imperial citizen, trying to survive, or a bloodthirsty Ork, growing a mighty WAAAGH! (search that up) and invading every planet that has life with bones to break. Anything, really.

 So, anyone in?

By the way, guys, I was thinking of starting a new game. I'm not going to stop this one, I just wanted to start another idea I had before it was done before me, seeing two other people had the same idea for this game.

So, to be sure that I'm not going to plagiarize another game, has anyone made a suggestion game where the players are a council tasked with secretively destroying worlds. For example, they discuss with each other for ways to destroy a disobedient world (it's going to be a sci-fi themed game) without revealing their organization to the people.

I was thinking of a point system determined by players on the waitlist and they judge the players style and secrecy. Then the players allocate those points into research and to hire more people to do their dirty work.

Has it ben done yet? I'm not going to stop this game; I just wanted another game to pass the time while I wait for you guys to post.

 Round 3!

You wake from your nap and decide to take a stroll in the fields. You're amazed at how much you've accomplished. If only you hadn't killed the king and claimed the throne, you could have accomplished much, much more. You look at the luscious, green fields and order your men to harvest it all. To leave none for the other tribes.

"My lord, we cannot hope to clear all of the fields! With the number of our men, it would take years to clear it out!"says one of the freed slaves

"Then do as much as you can,"you tell him.

After a few days, the men have cleared out a large enough space for a camp. You order the men to find building materials and supplies.
They come back with empty cereal boxes and cans. They fashion a surprisingly stable building within the shelves and baskets. The camp can support up to 30 Marketlings, and contains your food-stocks and rat-stables.

You realize that the dairy section is to far off to constantly obtain milk, and calcium is vital for a strong warhorde. You decide to milk the mother rat, and your men are happy to drink the milk.

In the meantime, Nugget decides to go back and learn more from the gods. Now, he is as smart as a high school graduate (Marketlings learn very fast) and when he returns, he finds a strange, dark man, floating in mid-air, apparently communing with his deities. He notices Nugget and descends from flight and walks toward Nugget.

The man is very tall, with dark, tan skin. He is bald, with various tattoos on his face. He has six arms, each wielding a sacrificial weapon of sorts. He is dressed like a Haitian voodoo priest, wearing nothing but a loincloth and various necklaces. The most curious features though, are his eyes. His two eyes are empty, bloody sockets. They have appeared to have been clawed out, and a tattoo on his forehead of a large eye. At least, Nugget thinks.

The man's eye tattoo opens, revealing a real third eye, gazing directly at Nugget. Nugget gets a painful headache, followed by nose-bleeding. The man talks to Nugget, not by mouth, but by mind.

'Why have you come to this outlet of the Dark Gods' power? Have you come to desecrate it, like the other foolish men?"

"N-No, sir. I have come to learn from the Great Ones. I only wish to learn, to learn to protect my tribe,"Nugget stammers.

"Then come, Nugget, I shall teach you, for a price," the man says slyly.

As Nugget comes back, you notice that he hasn't come alone. He is joined by two cultists, both with grey, mottled skin, with various scars and flesh markings.

"Nugget!"you call out, "Who are those men?"

"My servants, and yours! I have been tasked by a mighty warlock to build a shrine to the Gods. If we complete this task, he will offer his services to us! He is of great power, my liege! He is our chance of survival!

You ponder a bit, weighing the risks and the rewards. You finally decide to ask more about it. You ask Nugget for details about the shrine.
He tells you that there are two different kinds of shrine:
The Gaze of the Gods, a TV connected to CCTV cameras, able to see the majority of Flormart.
The Whispers of Knowledge, a radio tuned in to the delivery shipments of Flormart, to know when and where new boons from the gods will appear.

"Will you allow us to build this shrine, my liege?"

 Now you have: 130 foodstuffs(14 x 3 food eaten)
                          2 screwdrivers
4 rats (-4 food each turn)
1 water bottle of rat milk
                          Lots of rat bones
Workers in the Veggies Section (+40 food each turn)

Alrighty then, I'll try to do as much posting until I have to leave, because I won't be back for a long time.

"Nugget! Muffin! I have a task for you. You will go down to the floor with a warrior and tame some vermin for battle-beasts. Use what you need, and be careful,"you tell them

Nugget, Muffin, and the warrior, Wine, climb down from the cart and bait out some food. Nugget climbs up and empties some boxes while Muffin and Wine prepare and hide. The vermin swarm arrives, there are 3 small (comparatively) rats, and 1 gigantic rat-packmaster.

Nugget throws the boxes over, catching all of the small ones, but the boxes are too small for the packmaster. He runs away, while Muffin and Wine jump out, startling the rat even more. The rat runs back, and he faces Nugget, who had climbed down, and he is holding a bigger box and closes it on the rat. It struggles to break out but they hold it in place.

Muffin, who worked in the king's stable, knew how to tame the rats. She took some food and put it in the rat's boxes. They accepted it and hungrily ate while Muffin stroked their backs. Finally, after a few days of training, they had become docile. The packmaster, it seems, is pregnant and is expected to give birth in a month or so. They are outfitted with saddles of rat-pelt and are now ride-able!

Meanwhile, you and Protein decide to liberate the slaves, bringing your warriors with you. You take the war beasts and ride to the Veggie fields. You meet the slaves and call out to them.

Slaves! Heed me! I am Prince Fritz, son and slayer of King Burger! I have come to liberate you! Come with me and live as freemen!

The slaves look amongst each other, not sure whether or not to trust the stranger. The slaver, riding a large spider comes along with his entourage, a large brute holding half of a pair of scissors.

"Who are you to tell my slaves what to do? I am Slaver Beef! You are trespassing and you try to steal my slaves from me! I warn you to leave and never return!"

The brute comes closer to force you to leave, but one of the warriors stabs him, and the brute smacks the warrior away, instantly killing him. His rat jumps on the brute, while the others ride and stab him. The slaver screams and charges forward. Protein dismounts and meets the Slaver.

The spider-mount tries to bite Protein but Protein manages to fend it off. He rips one of the spiders legs of and the spider screeches and tumbles. The slaver jumps off and manages to avoid being crushed by his pet. He lashes at protein with a shard of sharp metal. Protein gets cut in his arms but he wrestles the shard away, cutting his palms. He grabs the slaver in the upper torso with is first two arms, and his legs with the other two. He lifts him up and rips him in half.

While Protein throws away the severed corpse of the slaver and the warriors wipe the brute's blood off, you go and address the slaves.

"Slaves! Come with me and be protected! Or be punished by this slaver's master!"

You return home with one loss, replaced by 7 slaves. They are good workers and manage to bring some food with you.

Now you have:80 foodstuffs (minus 12 x 3 foodstuffs each turn)
                         2 screwdrivers
4 rats (additional -4 foodstuffs each turn)
                         Lots of ratbones
Half of a pair of scissors
                         Domination over the Veggies section

 Okay, round 1!

"Guards! Our food-stocks are running low. I want two of you to go hunt vermin nearby, but don't venture too far. I want the remaining guard to go with one of the slaves to fetch some crops to the west. Protein, old friend, go with the other slave to learn from the Screen of the Dark Gods. Quickly now."

The hunting guards climb down the cart and bait some cereal on the floor. It doesn't take long for the vermin to heed the call of food. The guards ready their screwdrivers given to them when they left the kingdom. They look around, assessing the danger. There are 3 rats of large size.

One of the guards run to the shelf and he climbs it, throwing toasters down on the rats. Most miss, but one manages to crush the largest rat and trapping another's leg. The remaining rat scurries to the guard at the ground, easily overpowering him and pins him down.

Seeing his comrade in danger, he jumps down and lands on the trapped rat, crushing the rat beneath his heel. He runs to the remaining rat. He stabs the rat in the head and drives it deep. The rat, however, will not die easily. he shoves away the guard, giving the other an opportunity. He jumps on the rat and takes the screwdriver stuck in the head and drives it deeper, killing the rat.

The guards drag the rats back to the cart while the other guard and slave venture to the veggies section. They find no enemies, but they see other slaves of other tribes collecting food. The other slaves seem hostile, and some drop their food and run back, calling to the guardsmen. They decide that there are too many slaves to fight and they hurry back with as much veggies as they can.

The last slave goes along with Protein to learn from the Gods' Window. He sits and watches the great screen, mesmerized by the great, raw knowledge he sees. He cannot understand at first, but he catches on to a few key words. He learns many skills, although he is not very good at any of them. He now knows how to use simple machines, like toasters and irons.

Protein learns too from the martial arts channel and the WWE shows. He has learnt new fighting skills which he can show to the guardsmen.

They return and regroup with the other Marketlings. Now you have a decent supply of food which can last you up to 3-4 weeks. The warriors are training with Protein, while the learned slave, Nugget, teaches you and his sister slave, Muffin, some of the words he learnt.

Now you must decide what to do for next week. You think that taming some animals may be useful but it will be a few more mouths to feed. You are informed of the slaves at the Veggie fields and you have to think about diplomacy or war. Leaving them alone is not a viable option since the Veggie fields are one of the most plentiful food-stores in the area.

By the way, turns are in weeks and each week each Marketling has to eat at least 3 foodstuffs.

Right now you have: 70 foodstuffs
                                       2 screwdrivers
                                       3 rat pelts
                                       Lots of rat bones

No, javierpwn. You all control Fritz and you tell him to tell the others what to do.

The humans are normal size and the vermin are large and eat twice as much. Also, they have a pack mentality.

 Alright, let's start.

You are in shackles. On both your sides are two four-armed, muscular guards, wearing nothing but loincloths, war-paint and wielding two large butcher knives. You are led into a large shelf-hall housing nearly a hundred Marketlings. They jeer and jest at your approach. In a large throne sits your uncle, the new king, and next to him your mother.

"Prince Fritz, slayer of King Burger, I accuse you of treason and murder!" , says King Popsicle."and what say you, fair people?"

 "Death! Death!"

Then, your mother stands, and addresses the people, "Citizens! Death is too painless for this scoundrel! I say we exile him to the most vile pits of the appliance section!" Your mother turns and winks at you while the crowd cheers.

"Then so be it. Prince Fritz, I banish you to the Appliance section! With you I send 3 guards and your guardian, Protein, who volunteered to join. Now, begone!", orders the King.

As you are escorted to your trolley cart, you see two slaves fixing the wheels on your cart. They are poorly fed and hate the king.

"Come with me, stow away in the cereal box. Be free from the accursed king!", you tell them, which puts a smile on their faces and they scurry into the cereal box.

Your cart, containing you, Protein, the slaves and guards are pushed away into the appliance section and you are forced to survive.

Around you are thousands of electronics, like TV's, laptops, toasters, etc. To your west is the Veggies section and to your east is the Meats Section. To the south is the Dairy section and to the North is the exit, where beyond its gates are untold stories of massive monsters.

Your men depend on you Fritz, what will you do?

Basically, you'll need food. Marketlings don't eat much, but vermin do, and there are a lot of vermin. The TV's are always on, you can send people to learn language and learn how to use appliances.

So, anyone vote for a guy called Fritz who lives in an appliance store?
