Not to mention each plays completely different.  This mod is more like four games in one.

That's great the trade licenses survived the inferno.  Now you can get some serious coinage.

I'm pretty sure that those block pillars do block movement.  They are just constructed walls.  They should attach to the cave walls on each side. Otherwise that sort of construction wouldn't be used to make caverns safe. When you build a wall in a one wide space or at the end of a series of walls it just makes it look like that and calls it pillar.  I think it's just something to make it look a bit cooler and smoother for ending walls.

At least I've never seen something get past a block pillar.  I use them all the time to block used magma/water tubes so magma creatures can't swim up my forges from a volcano.

Haha I love the idea that I'm the only one who can really work the stupid portal.  Good thing you're the next overseer. I sealed off dozens of access points. Can't believe I missed that many. I guess it's the diagonals I tend not to see. Also are you sure those are pillars?  I think pillars are I's in this pack.

I'd suggest the longest atom smashing corridor possible for the demons haha.

Also I wondered why my dwarves were never idle. I never checked for dump zones.

Like grim said there's lots in the trade depot. I think there might be a trade license.

From what I saw every town portal dwarf i summoned showed up in therapist but took a bit to show up in ui. The missing number is definitely my guy going high priest. He did that tame thing before when he went normal priest.

I'd suggest use my legendary praying to pray for soft metal constantly. I don't think there is any gold on the map. I'll churn out gold like crazy and if there's a trade license out there you can sell any platinum that shows up. Maybe use the gold to call that dwarven steel caravan. The wells are a threat. Before the end of my turn I ran about 15 water from booze reactions so you should have some.

The hammer chamber is sealed off but the chamber is connected to the temple structure above it. So if you dig into that temple now the demons will get in. I'm pretty sure nothing can get to the caverns from the mysterious structure. I know the demons can fly to the hammer chamber I saw a few in there.

Also we have black powder now so we could start towards machine shops for turrets. Relying on town portal may make a large mechanized fighting force necessary.

Can we conclude that the dining hall with it's awesome illumination is the only nice place in the whole fortress? Except for the hospital (by me) and those random workshops (by i don't know who) in it :D
Always remember McFengyun, who fell off the scaffolding multiple times during construction and lost her hand in the process. (some evil overseer killed poor mc fengyun later*sniff* and she was such a beacon of happiness back when i ruled... *sniff*)

My dining room, bedroom,  and tomb are nice too.  The only smooth walls in the place. I'm surprised the other overseers didn't make their tombs.  That's a pretty common thing for succession forts. Mine is simple with an altar in it since I'm the forts high priest.

I may be crazy but my Hammer and demon invasion has wiped out at least 2200 undead. That's gotta help fps some as we do clear dead haha.

Ah my character is tame because he is in the middle of the 9 month progress towards High Priest.  He will probably come out of it around summer.

That unknown material wall also confused me.  I never went in there.  Assumed it was abandoned when frost giants showed up.

"HODOR, PULL THAT LEVER"
"Hodor."
 - Hodor then proceeds to walk through goblins, demons and flames to pull the level, not caring at all.

Bonus points if it's a naturally strong dwarf with gigantism.

oh, is that what a lobotomy does.  neat!

Yep 20% slower speed, no fear,no pain,  , no emotion ie no happy or sad thoughts, likes fighting. Also mental stats down to 1. They make great hold the line tank fighters especially if in a guild. They are also good crafters once legendary.  I don't know if they can have strange moods or not. They also make great lever pullers when your fortress is already invaded.

The loss of masterwork clothes is a valid point. You could do a few things. Burrow that dwarf and drop animals 20z levels to their deaths near him. After enough you'll get the trait "doesn't really care about anything anymore" and should be resistant.  I think there's also a way to lobotomize a dwarf and remove all emotions.  Might not get as many masterwork but if he's legendary you'll still get plenty.

Also thanks for the design. I've been considering making one for a while. Any idea how close spiders have to be? 1 space in between. 2? I know 3 spaces in between doesn't work.

Glad you figured it out. There are places only the dead are meant to go. When warlock comes out try embarking there. See how they react to that deadly of a coating.

Solitaire has a good point about snow. If it's cold your spring embark might be unmelted. It may not be deadly clouds but deadly snow. Maybe dfhack clean and flee under ground as fast as possible.

Hmm could it be uniform conflicts.  I know you mentioned military changes and adding miners. Maybe you could put up your save and we could take a look? If we can get it running we will let you know the hang up and you can keep playing

Also are you running the save with a fresh 4g download or with you main file possibly running studded with patches?

Ok.  I'm going to punt my turn if anyone wants it.

It's running really oddly on my computer.  It jumps between 26 and 36fps and then randomly hangs for long moments randomly, and one top of that, getting anyone to do anything seems to be wonky.  I tried disbanding militias to get more dwarves, removing burrows, adding burrows, and every dfhack trick I could to get dwarves to move in something resembling a normal fashion, but things are going so slow and dwarves are seemingly ignoring the normal rules for me.  I just have a hard time sitting and watching the game tick by.  I restrict labors, and people still do nothing.  It has become tedious to the point of driving me insane.

Could the fight in the underworld be screwing up pathing? I'll test my save see what my dwarves do too.

Could the fight in the underworld be overwhelming pathfinding?

I updated the list of Overseers. :)

If you want to update the list as well  McJaxey and Timeless both died at the end of my turn.  Filled with goblin arrows while running on top of our walls for no reason.
