Well necromancers are also surprisingly friendly, even if your companions might not agree for once.

And as for soldiers waiting for orders, well.. AS LONG AS THERE ARE NO WITNESSES IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.

Yeah I'm having trouble finding stuff to kill too.
And while I can initiate a brawl by starting to kill a bunch of bandits - my companions certainly aren't doing anything but scream in terror at all the vicious things I do to the poor, poor things.

as are the other bandits that didn't decide to teach me a lesson

it's silly

ARMOK is was not pleased today

No, since the reason the coins phase through things in the first place is that they apparently don't have any mass.

Fear the Night makes immortality a bit harder to get, but once you do get it you're pretty ridiculous.

If you have a fast character you can pretty easily do all these shenanigans by exploiting your free turns over the slower enemies.

Antiurist was a descendant of the tree-hugging hippies.

He decided to raid a bandit camp with his maceman and axeman buddies - since the villagers asked nicely.
Alas, when they entered the camp the two buddies were quickly slaughtered.

And so our elf sneaked towards his first offer, a crossbowman unknowing of what was to soon befall him.

He leaped out of his sneaky posture comparable to any ninja, and started to sculpt a live sculpture out of the crossbowman with the dagger he had brought with him. (Because stick swords are awful.)
After finishing off his sculpture with a nice hole in the skull, the next logical step was of course to pick up the poor sod's crossbow and lob it at the chieftain of those silly brigands.

All I can say is that his brains leaked a bit afterwards, and the rest of the "bandits" didn't suffer a fate much better than the first sculpture.

DF Suggestions / Re: Being able to [l]ook while dead.
« on: January 08, 2014, 12:46:18 pm »
It would bring absolutely no harm and unless the disabling of most features when you die is done in some deliberately horrible way then it would be as simple as removing a simple check.

I have no idea what you mean by "not really worth it" for such an elementary feature, I can see its benefits from all the way down here.

DF doesn't have any delusion of it being a game, and if you doubt this then just check the temperature and weather after you died.

Find a tree bordering at the edge of a warm lake, go for a swim in the lake, turn on Sneaking, angle up for going straight into that tree in some direction (optimally with another tree blocking the way out of the lake at the very same angle) - and hold down the movement key that would send you into the direction of the tree, along with the opposite direction's key; wait for a couple of minutes and you're done!

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Is hunger and thirst back?
« on: January 08, 2014, 11:57:09 am »
You shouldn't be too worried about hunger as much as you should worry about your thirst, since I did a little test with starving my poor little character - and this character was still going strong after an ungodly amount of starvation.*
Meanwhile, thirst can and will kill you if you go on without drinking anything for a couple of days.

* It's worth noting that your accuracy goes to complete shit after all this starvation, so it's not like it's a good idea to starve. But a big water supply should be prioritized above a big food supply.

Neither should be a problem in most cases though, because after most fights you ought to have at least a couple of bloodsplatters ready for drinking - along with meat from your kill to satisfy your hunger.

Is it even possible to attack the throat without knocking someone unconscious?
Of course, but that implies having some absurd skill levels - at which point you'd be better off just doing the usual procedure since you aren't the insane semi-god it takes to do it.
Although you might hit something else while swinging for the throat and not getting counterstriked.

Just
pick
one
or something

Rhapsody (of Fire) have some great albums for this purpose too, but they've been pulled off youtube lately.

My best adventurer ever was named Onol Skullstower the Oily Whims of Pointing.
Mine wasn't quite as badass because 0.34.11 is awful for adventuring, but Azatoth Deathomen the Wax of Twilight was quite the hardass.
Fighting unarmed of all things, with a quest for vampirism or lycanthropy to cure his lack of functional arms and utterly smashed physique was fun.

is it possible to track down her skill levels
It's possible if you "adv-bodyswap force" with dfhack, and I'm very curious about this too.
