Other Games / Re: Space Station 13 *READ RULES ON FIRST POST*

For the other admins, watch out for Mike88511 and Iceman. Mike was using excessive language, even after I asked him to stop, and Iceman breaks AI laws.
Yanlin bans anyone that looks at him funny.  :P We'll be fine, methinks.

When have I ever banned somebody for looking at me funny?

Sarcasm.

When have I ever used sarcasm?

Man, the human body can only take a certain level of sarcasm. I'm feeling kinda lightheaded...

That *is* disturbing! What can I do?

I'd say administer rejuvenators and then put him in a cyro.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: how can I cage a dwarf?
« on: June 19, 2009, 03:10:37 am »
the dust from a cave-in will knock him unconscious but it will also through him so set up a field maybe 3 wide 9 high of traps in the room in the direction away from the cave-in area
or juist:
Code: [Select]
WWW
W@ C
WWW
@ = dwarf on trap,
W = Wall
C = cave in location.

I just love sharing this story with everyone: My one in a million moment was when a migrant was attacked by a horse. Now since I had walled off my fortress the migrant was sure to die. She was, after all beaten too badly to move. Then the monkeys came. The rhesus macaques would wrestle him until they were over-exerted and unconscious. They tore out his throat, but she didn't die. Slowly, over the period of nearly a year and a half the dwarf lay there being torn apart. She never got hungry or thirsty, so never died of starvation or dehydration. In the end she was nothing but a head, torso and half an arm. The end also only came when some goblins chased off the monkeys. It was discovered that the monkeys had been keeping her alive, and any rescue attempt would kill her.

This was in unmodded DF. You can see an early video of her here: http://mkv25.net/dfma/movie-931-monkeyman

I say monkeyman, but that's because I hadn't checked gender until later. And while this may be one in a million, I hope that this can one day be replicated to find out exactly how long something can last through that without intereference.

sounds like... hey, you look hungry, here is your own finger to nibble on.. can I have some too?

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Marksdwarves aren't carrying ammo.
« on: June 18, 2009, 08:13:05 am »
If your marksdwarves have quivers they actually carry the ammo INSIDE the quiver, so press enter on the quiver in their inventory- if there is ammo in there then it will be on the left of the screen in nice big letters.

I myself thought that my single marksdwarf (who is now dead, bless his soul) wasn't carrying any ammo. Then, after a few days of frustration I looked inside his quiver.  ;D

And that is why I prefer ballistae, at least then you can see how much ammo is lying around easily.
Plus they are FREAKING AWESOME

Oh, thread is a month old. Oops. At least this can help anyone searching (not that they ever do).
I dub thee, a legendary necromancer :D.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Marking out big circles
« on: June 18, 2009, 04:17:07 am »
Well, I have a bit of a problem. I want to dig out a really big circle, because circles are pretty. But I can't get it to actually be round, because it's so big, you can't really judge that well. I can, however, tell it's more like a rounded rectangle. Bah.

So, I ask: Is there an easy way to mark out a large circle for digging?
Look at it this way. A circle, by definition, is the collection of points which all have equal distance to a single point, called center.

And in DF, diagonal movement costs as much as straight movement. This means that what we uneducated humans call a square is actually a perfectly round and pretty dwarven circle!
really? I thought it was like 1.7 movement cost to travel diagonally on the wiki... ill have to check that...

I'm gonna manually turn this on every siege from now on :D.

Even then, he would get an alert that there was a cave in (the message does come up with floor tile cave-ins, right?).

Check around for tantrumming dwarves, they might have one a few of that. Are there any sea creatures that can destroy buildings such as floor tiles?
Jumping up 9 spaces? THE CARP IS MUTATING! RUN!

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: I think my world is too hot!
« on: June 17, 2009, 04:48:30 pm »
Apparently humans can survive surprisingly hot temperatures (120C+) as long as they keep themselves off surfaces to avoid being fried.  But if your dwarves are barefoot they are fucked.
Kog: Olon, wait a sec. My feet are killing me, lemme just get these off for a moment...
Olon: WAIT KOG! NOOOOOO*swooosh*

True, a king isn't much of a king if one look at a slightly oversized bird causes him to run in horror.
Even if it is known to borrow dwarven eyes?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Ninja immigrants??????
« on: June 17, 2009, 04:41:09 pm »
Yeah, I suspect they've hired the same Guide that leads your embark wagon to the top of a high rock spire, with no way down...

Sure, they're dwarves and can dig down, but it's a waste of perfectly good spires and towering landmarks. :'(
besides, they cant fill it back up again. (unless its obsidian)

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: ASCII advantage?
« on: June 17, 2009, 04:10:17 pm »
My mind also almost exploded when first trying to decipher the ASCII, but now it makes my imagination run wild whenever I see something exploding into gore for some random silly DF reason :D.
And the graphical tileset's... hmm... i think they'd limit the power of my mind.
(I might try a square one someday.)

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: How does one get besieged?
« on: June 17, 2009, 04:00:33 pm »
At the moment he has a full set of adamantine and an artifact mace (also adamantine ;D) I thought Id just use the other peasants for building my tower and hauling stone. Besides I want to see just how strong one dwarf can be.
Artefact adamantine mace? heck, you wont be killing them, they'll get launched into orbit, slam into a star, and explode into individual quarks.
(ps: Could you post the description?)
