Dear Elves;

 Who are you, and what have you done with my embarkment party? You cannot survive in the harsh glaciers, especially with the Spawn raiding you.

Sincerely, a very confused overseer.

Screw it, I'm grabbing the save and taking a turn.

Diary Of "Doof" CrumbleBreads, Overseer of AngelDaggers;

 ACH! I made a mistake in the planning, and now..... now the work area is flooded with magma. Now I'll have to have the miners dig out yet another giant room. Shite.

Fortress Overseer's diary, 10th Obsidian;

We've finally gotten the dwarves to start a metal industry. Now, we just need the magma to do it.....

Hm? That seems to require all of 2 tiles of wall to be constructed for a safe area. And the right-most designation that pierced the caverns was just a big hall anyway, at least the cavern pierce didn't happen with the bedrooms(?) on the left. On the other hand, I do emphathize, I'm a bit OCD about not digging out any more than needed (and using just the materials I want etc), but I'd probably be able to adapt to this one.

I was more pissed about the fact that I had to dig out another big ass room for my stockpile than the cavern breaching. Unfortunately, I forgot to seal the breach and a family of ogres got in (how, I have no idea. I could swear that there wasn't a way up into the fortress proper) and slaughtered the lot of my dwarves.

  Overseer Doof's Log, Dwarven Fortress of Syrupstone;

There is no such thing as not a newb. There is " new newb who knows nothing (I'll just cut the zombies up! :D ) " , "newb who's been around long enough to figure out how to create a fortress (OH GOD ZOMBIES URIST DO SOM- Andthey'redead.)", and "newb who has been around long enough that he knows stuff, buthe still gets his ass kicked, but not quite as easily ( .....Dammit, you stupid f*cking dwarves. This is not my fault.)". I started considering myself the middle when I managed to get a working fortress for five years without resorting to walling up the entrance and subsisting on plump helmets and plump helmet wine.

Lack of sanity. I think the fun started with a large amount of death due to me deciding I could try and train dralthas. Without me knowing the first thing about how you train animals. Oooooopsie.  :P

Log of Overcolt Doof, Mid-Spring, 202.

 We got four more crazies following our migrant wave. Can't order them executed, the citizens will shun the soldiers that do so, and the soldiers will try and kill the citizens. Gonna hope they piss off the Mister Macintosh that's wandering around near the city limits.

I was out chopping wood due to parental mandate

Trying to avoid making a crude joke, but this phrase is really tempting. Really, really tempting.

Dear overcolt doof,

Everypony knows that sending a pony to kill another pony from the herd without that pony being labeled a threat to the herd first, causes the pony that did the killing to be ostracised and labeled a threat to the herd! Ordered murder is still murder! Further, any pony that kills that ostracised pony will themselves be likewise ostracised and branded!

This means that by ordering me to kill that pony, you have made me an enemy of the herd! I am just defending myself from every other pony!

[Note, look up "loyalty cascade" for more.]

--Moral Daggertrees

I thought it wouldn't cause a loyalty cascade, the pony I had killed had showed up as "opposed to life". Guess I was wrong.

Stupid question;

What's DFterm?

Not stupid actually.

DFTerm is a utility that basically throws the fort onto a server that pretty much anyone can interact with through the program and that other people can watch through their browser...

So I guess we decided that the problem was that we didn't have enough chefs in the kitchen, huh?

That sounds awesome.
