Outside, still holding her standoff with the guards, Miyako noticed the others' presences had stopped moving.

What's going on? Really need some way to stay in contact next time.

Even so, she'd still need to make sure there is a next time. While she was able to cover her allies as they climbed over the fence blocking the alleyway, she'd need to leave it the hard way. Or perhaps...

"Gentlemen, I don't think we need to fight. In this narrow alleyway, you can only attack me one at a time, and even if you could take me with numbers, the first would already be bleeding on the stones. But soon enough, I'll have to leave this alley, through you if necessary. But if you were to back off and forget this ever happened, there'd be no bloodshed."

137
As Miyako held her standoff with the guards, she noticed the strange presence from earlier had got much stronger when she got close to the building. But it wasn't strange anymore, rather...distressingly familiar. And yet, not any of the distressingly familiar feelings she had got during her stay at the palace. There were only two options, and one jumped right to the top of her mind.

The Sheep... They could be a wildcard. I hope this is just a coincidence.

138
"Right then. Let's make a perimeter of our own. We might have to make another breakthrough, but we'll do it better than Yusuke can do alone."

With that, Miyako turns around to face the guards who, presumably, followed them to the alleyway. She doesn't say anything, but she holds her axe in a guarded position and gives them a crooked smile: a challenge.

139
"As ready as I can be. Don't want to crash just yet, so can't stop for too long either way."

140
As Yusuke disappeared from her sight, Miyako cursed, then stopped and turned to her friends, already crafting a solution.

"I don't think I can fit through that window, at least not that quickly. Well, uh, new plan: keep the guards from completely surrounding this building. If they surround it otherwise, the only way out will be to our hands, and he can tell it's me and Traxesa out here."

"Even if that doesn't happen, he'll have an escape route open and we'll have the advantage to track him later. That sound good?"

141
"I'm holding up fine."

"Well, that's a lie. I'm high as a kite on adrenaline and will probably crash the moment we get to safety. Bowler will probably have to have a rest day tomorrow as well."

"At the very least, he's getting plenty of exercise."

142
"No! We need to get to him before the guards!"

Unafraid, Miyako drew her axe and charged the side of the soldiers' line. She wouldn't need to take them down, only knock them aside enough to run past. In theory, her choice of weapon had the advantage against the soldiers' spears, but she and her friends were still outnumbered and couldn't risk an extended fight. Especially as every second meant Yusuke getting farther away.

143
When Yusuke's convoy got close enough with their shouts to clear the road, Miyako turned around.

"Oh! Sorry sirs. Please, hold this for a moment!"

Saying that, she threw her cloak off herself and onto the foremost guard's hands to confuse him and make him forget about his weapon for a moment. In that split second, Miyako stopped to introspect. Traxesa was right; she wasn't shaking anymore. No, as she released the tension holding her Gnosis' charge and allowed it to Burst, her thoughts and actions became intuitive and bright as day. Even brighter, literally, as a sparking halo rose around her to flash in the guards' eyes and boom in their ears. The sudden crack of thunder would be heard by many more people, but right now, only Yusuke mattered.

"Yusuke! Transform! We're saving you!"

A small issue with the plan was that Yusuke wasn't in on it, but there was no time to explain; Miyako would have to trust him to think quickly and take the opportunity for escape, either now or when Setsurou and Traxesa added their contributions to the chaos.

144
Just a moment longer...

Outside, Miyako continued her slow walk and kept her back turned to the soldiers as if she hadn't heard them. Inside, the anticipation was pushing her nerves closer and closer to their breaking point. She did her best to resist the urge to look at Setsurou and Traxesa; knowing they were there to support her and do their part of the plan did help, but knowing it had to be enough when she couldn't risk turning to see it. Turning inward to resist that urge wasn't much, either: the Gnosis in her pocket was still distracting her, holding its charge like a spring wound as tightly as Miyako herself was. Oh boy, would it be a storm when she released it.

145
With the moment approaching, Miyako made her way to the middle of the street at a slightly brisker pace than she'd been using before. She checked to make sure Setsurou's bench and Traxesa's alley were close enough, then turned her back to the direction Yusuke's convoy was coming from and slowed down to an extremely slow walk. The convoy would surely outspeed her and get close enough for the next step of the plan.

Please be going quietly, Yusuke. This'll be so much more difficult if you're dragging your feet...

146
"Yusuke is almost here. I'll get in position. You should too. Stick to the plan, and this'll go as smoothly as something so chaotic can go."

With that, Miyako stepped out of the alleyway. She walked up to a storefront, "window-shopped" for a moment, and then "absent-mindedly" plodded to the next. Between the anonymity granted by her cloak and her walking much slower than other people, she trusted nobody notice that she was, in fact, going in a circle around the street. All along the way, she kept her senses sharp, taking stock of anything that could affect the rescue. Guard patrols unrelated to Yusuke's transfer. Escape routes opening and closing. A bickering couple that was raising some attention.

147
"Don't be sorry. I'm almost shaking, myself."

148
"Hold your horses, Setsurou. It'll be a while longer before they arrive, and we'll need to sneak closer than this before we do it. But yes, that's the plan. Raise hell, then run like hell. The chaos will be on our side. I'm worried that it doesn't feel like it's just Yusuke and Traxesa around, but we knew that might be the case."

Miyako didn't really need to go over the plan, as it was very simple, fast and loose. Talking about it did help calm her nerves, however. The anticipation of using her Gnosis soon made it feel like it was burning in her pocket. Receiving it was a recent development for her, after all, and the idea of having been noticed and recognized by a god was...distracting.

149
"Would they really come to our front door? I'm pretty sure attacking Nico in the Boss' earshot would be their last mistake."

150
"Don't worry, Big Blue. It's just a few more blocks 'til we get home, and then... Well, whoever thought they could defeat just the few of the Warriors will have to face all of us. Well, maybe in the morning they will. I wouldn't mind getting to bed by now either, and Bowler is getting a little tired as well."
