Gnosis Art: Mr. Erasmus' Negative Charge Art [Sailor's Fire]: As a free action, Miyako enshrouds her weapon in blue, fire-like energy. For her next combat, her attacks count as Thunder for WTA purposes and target the lower of DEF or RES.
Mr. Erasmus insisted that Miyako practice shipboard combat, because "every war is won at sea". Her escape from the Imperial Palace didn't involve it, but those shipboard moves had some interesting reactions to her Gnosis...Gnosis Burst: Mr. Erasmus' Positive Charge Art [Sprite Halo]: For three turns or until she is downed, a blindingly bright aura of charged air surrounds Miyako in a two-space radius. Within the aura, Miyako and her allies gain defensive terrain bonuses as though they were in a Forest. If they are already in defensive terrain, the effect doesn't stack.
Once, Mr. Erasmus insisted on training Miyako during a dry thunderstorm. During an explanation, lightning struck right next to him with a crashing boom. He barely reacted to it, and continued on as if nothing had happened. Later, he revealed the hidden lightning rod. When something needs to be done, it must be done, even if no one will protect you but yourself. You need to be the one protecting others, in that case.Bio:
Miyako's childhood wasn't too bad. Though she never got to know her parents, she lived in relative comfort as a temple child in a small village near Kamihama. The priests always showed her compassion, and though she didn't take to faith particularly fervently, to this day she respects the faithful greatly. Miyako was quite strong, and excelled in games with other children, but couldn't get into true athleticism; she couldn't risk breaking her limits and exhausting herself. She was thankfully alone the first time the Binding Curse triggered, but since then, she was deathly afraid of others learning of it, simply because it would have made her stand out among children. For that, as the years passed, she relied more on what little tactical side the games had, to gain an advantage while keeping herself in check.
And yet, children can be monsters, teenagers moreso, and keeping one's head down isn't always a certain protection. One time, Miyako had to defend herself from a gang of hooligans from out of town who thought they could pick on her and one of her friends. Through some clever improvisations, she managed to drive the hooligans off without her friend being harmed, but she herself was quite beat, and couldn't stave off the transformation. Her friend, scared of this development, asked the wrong (or perhaps the right) people for help. Soon enough, a letter of summons arrived at Miyako's temple. The priests debated fiercely on what they should do: to give her over or to protect her. But Miyako made the choice for them: she grabbed her bags and snuck away into the night.
For the next couple of years, Miyako found herself on the streets of Kamihama, hiding by the waterfront and staying out of trouble...as much as someone in such a situation could. Realizing that her victory against the hooligans was a fluke, she decided she should learn to fight, and sought out someone to teach him, that she could trust not to betray her to the Empress. One Mr. Erasmus, as a sailor from Avropa, fit the bill. Though he was quite eccentric, and never seen without a bottle in hand, he taught Miyako with commendable passion (especially when he made "lessons" for Miyako to defeat out of various people out to kill him).
But nothing could last forever, and when the whispers of the Empress' mistreatment of the other Cursed got too loud, Miyako knew she'd have to do something. She said her farewells to Mr. Erasmus and made the long journey to the Sangonomiya Estate. The value of one of the Cursed to the resistance couldn't be understated, and together with them, Miyako hatched a plan. She would finally answer the summons and set the pieces for an escape in place from inside the palace, while the resistance would keep contact with her and make preparations outside.
The plan was sound in theory, but it didn't account for the Cat. Yusuke launched his own plan and challenged the Empress before Miyako's escape plan was ready, putting her improvisational skills to the test: now or never, she had to shut up and do the impossible, or otherwise be caught in the gilded cage for much longer. She decided she wouldn't stand still. Something about that decision to finally put herself on the line must have been heard, for she found a new blessing to aid her in it. A Gnosis. Just the tool she needed, she sprung into action, took advantage of Yusuke's commotion and led the captive Juunishi to freedom. It was by no means easy, but through teamwork and sheer determination, they somehow managed it.
But Miyako isn't done. Yusuke is still in trouble, and the word is that he's being taken to Kamihama. That shall be her next destination as well.
