Well, there are one downside - It's not ready, yet :)
That's a big one! :P Well, I'll definitely be following it, looks awesome.

I haven't been following this game at all, never even heard about it, but boredom led me to click on this thread. From the first post this looks to be at least DF level of complexity, at least in some parts. Am I right to assume that, or does this game have some terrible downside to it?

I haven't been hacked in the past few days because I have been keeping a low profile and because someone gave me some good software. I think I might get back to the riddle trail soon because of that.
What level of software? The GS has a max level WWL which makes the game almost too easy.

Yeah, I watched TB's video, that's really where most of my skepticism stems from. Underground bases are likely very difficult to get working.

I too played the original Ace of Spades and had a lot of fun with it, although it was pretty laggy on most servers and the client was horrible. Jagex doesn't honestly have a history of being great developers, especially with the addition of microtransactions that basically ruined the last bit of fun to be had in Runescape.

The fact that Rocketeers get a jetpack is so stupid and overpowered. Basically ruins the whole building aspect.

... Unless of course you build an underground base!

Haven't really been online since I got DDoSed and wiped by some random asshole, had to wait for an IP reset. Now I've formated and reset though so I should be good to rebuild. My slaves paid out a total of 10,000 creds, though, so I was able to get my damaged HD back to its former glory along with a better connection.
I got DDoSed 15 f***ing times. And I'm back up again.

Sucks, man. The fact that you can completely reset a player by DDoS spam is retarded. I'm almost done downloading the WWL from the GS, though, so I should be able to recover nicely.

Arn't they not even pretending this is not the case?

X and Y are like sneak previews. Z is going to be the one that takes X and Y and expands on it to make it good.
Yeah, I agree with you, it's a stupid business model. I still find myself buying at least two games every generation, though, if only for my collection. Saying that BW2 didn't fix anything though isn't true, since it did add what BW lacked - doesn't matter if it was omitted on purpose.

BW2 didn't fix nothing. It is how the games generally go.

They will have a new release which will focus on the new pokemon throwing the old ones away (at least after Gold and Silver). Then it will have its REAL game where they actually try.

It just happened to be that instead of "Fire Red" or "Soul Silver" they called it Black 2 and White 2.

Meaning that if I wanted the new Pokemon I'd skip X and Y and wait until the REAL game several months or a year later.
BW2 did fix something. BW were good games, their main problem was the lack of useful Pokémon, which BW2 fixed. While it's true that it's similar to the way Crystal, Emerald and Platinum handled stuff, it did still technically fix a problem in the original games.

You could argue that those problems are purposefully there so Nintendo can sell an additional game to "fix" them, the same way every triple-A game seems to have scary high amounts of DLC, but that's just the way it's been. It's a stupid way of doing it, but it clearly works.

In my opinion Gen 3 was by a long shot the best generation in basically all aspects. I like the Pokémon a lot, the region is cool, even the anime was better than the others gens.

When people say "hurr durr rbgy wer best" it's pretty obvious it's just the nostalgia talking, because to be honest RBGY are by far the worst. When they came out they were awesome, and they're still good games, but in comparison the other games just have so much more. GSC basically just adds another region on top as well as a ton of new Pokemon, as well as a lot of small things you can do other than battling - gathering apricorns, for example.

Not everyone liked the Pokémon design in RSE, but I think it's done well. The Pokémon don't look too complex, but they're more than boulders with arms. There's a lot of variety, and a healthy amount of legendaries that don't seem like they're only there to fill up space. Even then the games manage to give the player lots of exploration to do, in the form of the hidden Regi caves, Sky Pillar (in the case of Ruby and Sapphire), Mirage Island and tons of other things.

The remakes of RBGY, FireRed and LeafGreen, were nice. It was cool to replay the old world in modern graphics, and the addition of the Sevii Islands and several elements from more recent games gave it a nice mixture of recognition and surprise. I didn't enjoy the remakes as much as RSE, but they were still decent games.

DPP is where it sort of went downhill, in my opinion. The large amount of legendaries didn't feel natural. There were a decent amount of legendaries in RSE too, but they all felt like they had a purpose, or otherwise were very difficult to find without a guide, such as the Regi trio. However in DPP Pokémon like Heatran and Manaphy made a debut, and they just didn't feel "legendary" to me. The region itself felt more modern than in previous games, with a lot of ... metal everywhere, which didn't really feel welcome after playing through the previous games.

The GSC remakes were another story, though. The games kept the traditional look of the original GSC while adding a lot more to do and of course, compatibility with newer games. I didn't play these as much as DPP, but I still enjoyed them more.

Theeeeen there's White and Black. While they just continued to modernize the look of the game as well as playing with the camera angle in ways that make me nauseous, I still liked them. The lack of Pokémon from previous generations was a little annoying since Gen 5 doesn't have a lot of familiar type combinations - it seems like Nintendo were going for new, weird combinations that haven't been introduced before. This would be cool, but I'd still have loved some familiar faces to fill my party with.

BW2 fixed this problem by introducing older Pokémon to the wild, which I think makes it superior to its prequel. I like the fact that you actually live in a city as opposed to a town with three houses, as well as the idea that Unova is completely fucked up. It blows new life into the region and makes it cool to explore it again. I did think the story felt a lot longer in BW2 which I'm not really a fan of - I feel Team Plasma's ambitions were already explored to their full extent in BW. A lot of the things you have to do in the story was very tedious, too, such as the stuff aboard the huge zeppelin thing Team Plasma uses.

In conclusion I think the Pokémon games rank like this, in order from worst to best: RBGY - DPP - FRLG - GSC - BW - HGSS - BW2 - RSE

I think only the 3D design will save this game, so true pokemon fans will enjoy it, but all new 100+ pokemons is indeed not needed, there are like million of them already :/  like what the fuck...
3D aside, New pokemon are the whole thing; The story certainly isn't going to carry it all the way for most people and its not exactly uberdifficult like DF or Dark Souls. Not Gen 5 levels of new pokemon, thats far too many really. More like the previous generations, which had a good chunk of new pokemon but didn't try to fill up an entire pokedex with only new. The metagame players get a new bunch of pokemon to figure out, the people who missed the previous pokemon games get to try a new iteration, and everyone else gets another reason to eventually get a 3DS probably, or ignores it.

Also, theres not even a thousand pokes yet. If you want to complain about too many thing go look at Magic the gathering or Final Fantasy or something. ;)
To be honest this game is probably the only reason lots of people are even buying a 3DS. None of the games have really seemed to stand out yet, except for the OoT remake and that sequel to Pokemon Rumble.

I'm not telling BlackZX what to do in Slavehack. I haven't heard of him wiping anyone before this, so can't really blame me for that.

But about the GS, I wasn't aware we had any at all. I know B12 used to have one back in the day but I had no idea people still used that.

I don't understand why people delete each other at all. I just upgraded my seeker to 2.5 from 1.2 and noticed someone's had a 2.2 hid virus on my system for days, without touching my other files. Not even going to remove the virus just for that.
