That's a surprisingly good analogy, considering it was made by 3 different people.

Yeah but if you've given him a chance to do anything, you've already kind of fucked up. If you run up and start wailing on him, it's pretty hard to not kill him before he has a chance to do something.

Which is kind of counter-intuitive for Dark Souls boss encounters, I guess. Fighting like that against bosses is generally a great way to die.

But I remember when I fought him, knowing exactly zero about the fight going in, my first reaction was "Oh shit, a caster! Get in there and whoop his ass!" And that turned out to be exactly the strategy that was called for.

I suppose for a pure caster/ranged person, it's a slightly different story. Maybe. Either way he's still bottom bitch on the boss hierarchy.

I personally thought he looked fucking terrifying when I first saw him, not something I wanted to get close to. :P He reminds me more of an octopus than a necromancer, I guess it's the outfit.

Gaping Dragon really is a cakewalk, he's just way too slow to be any threat at all.

I know there's a running joke about Pinwheel being weaker than the asylum hollows, but he honestly can do a lot of damage if you let him. Getting hit by one of those blasts does hurt.

I agree with Crimson, if you're going the standard way to Blighttown you will definitely want some moss to heal poison, which there's plenty of in Darkroot Garden.

Yeah, it does match up, it's just that it doesn't take the reach of weapons into account. I've yet to see a game that actually had perfect bounding boxes around every single polygon, so it's no huge surprise.

Parrying isn't all that necessary, though. You'll usually be fine by just circling around normal enemies until you can get a backstab off, which I kinda hope they change in DaS2 - it's way too simple.

Thanks for posting that, seems like it'll be pretty good. I played Dark Souls (haven't beat it quite yet) but not Demon Souls, and I heard rumors that this one wouldn't be as 'challenging' as the first two games... I hope they're wrong and DS2 is just as good if not better than DS was.

60 frames per second would help. I'm just saying.

Those "rumors" are completely false, this is the first actual gameplay footage. It's all based on the fact that the development team has changed a bit and there was something about them making the first part of the game "more accessible" to new players, which doesn't necessarily mean it'll be easier.

It certainly still looks awesome, definitely getting this on release date. Dark Souls is my favorite RPG of the generation.

I just got this game a couple of days ago, figured I'd play Dark Souls before the sequel comes out... it's pretty cool. I don't feel it's as hard as people hype it up to be, still though though. My current Xbox is unable to go online so I figure that sorta removes from the experience, but I'll be getting a new one soon anyways.

Does anybody know if the Xbox online community is still active? I always prefer playing games there over PC or PS3. :P

Ugh, I really want this, but I don't have a Wii U and the 3DS version just doesn't look as cool. :(

Guess it's time to throw my wallet at Nintendo again.

Well, to be honest I was never that into the lore. Leveling goes so much faster when you don't read every quest. :P

What exactly is so terrible about World of Warcraft? When I played it last time I had fun, and that was around the release of MoP. It can't have changed that drastically. That said, I never participated in any higher-end raids or PvP so I might be missing something there.

What other good MMOs are out there? I was considering Guild Wars but it just looks like a second WoW to me. Not really interested in The Secret World. How about SWTOR? Other than the horrible F2P business model, is there any huge drawback to it? And how about the new Runescape '07 servers? (Don't anyone dare say Runescape is bad! :P )

So yeah. Bay12 somehow doesn't have a thread for the biggest MMO ever, so I guess I'll just ask my question like this.

Does anyone think WoW is still worth playing, or are there better MMOs (with at least a comparable amount of players) available? I only ever played casually, my strongest character is still just a level 87 Warlock, gave up on it shortly after MoP since I didn't feel like leveling. I'm bored, though, and WoW is still really popular.

Does anyone else here still play, and if so do you think it's worth the subscription fee? My fully upgraded WoW account is on EU, by the way, so I don't really consider switching to the more popular US servers an option.

You can even put stuff *coughgrenadescough* on people. Just hold it in your hand and click on an appropriate slot. They don't need to be grabbed or stunned.

Uh, for that to be remotely harmful you would have to activate it first, and since grenades take 3 seconds to detonate you would have no chance to escape yourself. And the only slot you can force a grenade on somebody is their hands, so they can't be stunned or lying down while you're doing it.

You might be talking about something entirely different, though.

Does anyone else share my fetish for custom-built, secluded control centers? Basically go somewhere nobody ever visits, like the abandoned office in the arrival corridor or the pirate radio station, then build every single station computer there and just bolt yourself in. It makes you seem like a pseudo-AI.

I don't really see how people find SS13 hard to get into, though that's probably just because I already did it myself. The only thing that's unintuitive is equipping stuff and basic interaction, but that only takes a couple of minutes to figure out if you're using a guide.

Learning all the different jobs is a different case, but that's a game mechanic, you're not supposed to know everything from the beginning.

There should be a 10% chance that instead of gibbing you the shuttle crashes into a planet with nothing on it, then after a couple of minutes carp would start rolling in from space.

This would make the supply shuttle unavailable for the rest of the round, naturally, but I think it's worth it.
