It's Nepeta.

NepetaQuest begins now.

Yeah, I was thinking of having the score of a party getting reduced by 10% for each year they've been in power to prevent something like that. I imagine most players will end up with their own party and allegiances in any case, so we should get a good mix of overseers.

Normally yes, but everyone wants to be a part of my factions  8).

Nah but for srs, good idea m8.

One more idea for the next fort: would people be interested in a non-standard turn order similar to the Dwarven Democracy thingie? Something like dividing the dwarves into factions (ie, Army, Workers and Farmers+Hunters) and for every triumph they get bonuses to the public opinion of the faction (like if the army routs a siege with no losses it's +5 PO, but when a baby gets kidnapped they get -1PO). Alternatively, player-made political parties could serve a similar function, with each party gaining a percentage of each groups public opinion depending on how many members of the party are in that group. At the start of each year, the most popular political group then elects an overseer from among themselves, but a dwarf can only be overseer once every three to five years.

This is just because it feels slightly weird when we're doing a story heavy fort and the person in charge suddenly cedes their power to their greatest enemy for no apparent reason.

I'm game.

Just so long as it doesn't turn into "the old guard reelect themselves continuously and prevent new players from taking a shot".

Since the next release is going to add in intellectual needs for dwarves, does that mean we can expect some sort of temple zone at some point after the tavern update?

Hooray! Trade!

... what's next, now that you've conquered the surface?

It's like a Koopa Troopa getting knocked out of its shell. And then being beaten to death. So basically it's Super Mario Bros.

If only the shell when it flew off struck a marksdwarf and hospitalized him.

Oh dear! I've got siege. Featuring troll hammerman with a silver maul. Who gave trolls weapon?!

I've noticed trolls with weapon skills too. It is terrifying. It was inevitable.
I suspect that they're trolls who got captured by another civ, who for some reason treated them as citizens rather than pets, and then got snatchered back?

Has anyone here ever read Blindsight? It's available for free, legally, on rifters.com. A very interesting take on transhumanism.

If the monarch had previously died, It takes some time for a new one to be made. Or your civilization could just be extinct.

I doubt this, as I'm still getting caravans. Plus there's other appointed barons for other forts of the civ, and I haven't been getting any messages saying forts have fallen...

On a related note, will queen's successor show up now if the queen is dead? She had lots of kids.
Last time I checked dwarven nobles are not hereditary.

They are as of 40.xx, succession was fixed.

So, I've got a fort on it's 11th year (the FPS, it buuuuurns). I've been trying to get a baron for the past 5 years, without success.

I noticed when I looked at the civ screen around year 2 that we didn't seem to have anyone filling the position of monarch. The title was just absent. Since then, the title has neither been filled nor shown up. I'm starting to think that I don't have a monarch.

Bug?

I LIVE.

I'm on year 10 in Mineseal now, and almost done my magma pumpstack. Once it's complete, I'll kit out a massive military and start building an elaborate surface fort out of glass.
I'm not really sure what I'm going to do after that project is complete. Start pointless megaprojects/doomsday devices? I'm trying to make this for last for a century, so I guess I've got to figure out how to automate as much of it as possible. That or just build a new fort whenever the last one gets boring on the same site. Like, when my current subterranean fort gets too boring, maybe move it to a surface fort, then a cavern fort, then a hell fort etc...
