Phoebus, thanks for the amazing tileset and such quick updates for the latest versions. Your efforts are appreciated!

Your gorgeous tileset made me start into DF.
And while I enjoy it in ascii mode... well, I prefer your tileset looks.

i fantasize from time to time to create a romanic - medieval looking tileset, but it won't ever look as well as yours.

Generally speaking, it's far too easy to trade useful things for useless stone earrings and toys.

Maybe the traders should buy only goods with a superior quality, and yes, with diminishing returns each unitvand year of trade.

Also: weight should be related with price: for a trader thare's no sense in travelling with tons of rock that won't even pay for the mule's food. So, weighty things should be more expensive to buy and less profitable to sell.

All this, of course, IMHO.

Even when I manage to do the same, I always  feel I'm giving them the most luxurious death corridor a dwarf can have. For me it's logical to think some of them would prefer to face their destiny (or protect their family) elsewhere.

I just thought about desertions in my last Fortress Undead Disaster.

It is not logical to stay in a doomed town when everybody around is (un)dying. I just totally support the idea of families just leaving when the situation is absolutely unbearable, the same way that migrants come for their own reasons.

The caravan seems.the best chance, or maybe the dwarf can sneak out with food and weapons to embark on their dangerous travel.
After all, migrants come without caravan...

Then maybe is a question to consider that the dwarfs should widen their historical engravings to -let's say- the historical happenings of their 'home' civilization. Or maybe other facts such as the birthing of the first child in the fortress or the agriculture seasons, etc.

In one of my first fortresses I wondered how deep my dwarves could mine and I discovered.

The demons ascended, ripped and burned everything and everyone in an horrific slaughter. Everyone? No! The Expedition Leader was fishing heroically in a nearby pond!
Apparently he didn't hear the screams or smelled the smoke.

The demons got him when he took a booze  and entered the fortress to get some beer.
