the bandwidth only really matters when you start pushing higher resolutions. for 1680 you can definitely do fine then with that 550ti for say high settings for skyrim (you can hit ultra by turning off MSAA and just leave FXAA on which looks fine for me, texture packs be much more helpful) though i have no idea if it will do fine for gta4 or 5 when that comes out. Im just trying to help you future-proof your stuff so it would last longer than say 4 years.

Right now, my rig is a Pentium 3ghz dualcore, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, and a Geforce 8800. It's over 6 years old, but it actually does surprisingly well on any game that doesn't require boatloads of RAM. Crysis 2, Black Ops 2 and Skyrim run swimmingly on it at default settings; APB:R not so much.

Given the current setup I have lined out for my new PC, I'd expect it to last at least until 2018, but judging by Moore's law, that may be a tall order.

what would you even need the graphics card for? (specific game)

Firefall, Champions Online, The Secret World, Skyrim, GTA5, games like that. I don't plan to run mega amounts of anti-aliasing (2x is fine for me at 1680x1050) and I can probably do without SSAO. I just want to be able to run games at 30 FPS or more.

Most of my gaming is done in the 20-30 FPS range, which is tolerable for me (especially for MMORPGs). It's only when it gets down below 15 FPS is when I start having big problems.

that pretty much matchs up with the 7770 little bit faster for tessellation

I read that the 7770 is 128-bit while the 6850 is 256-bit, which makes for loads better performance. My only concern is that the 6850 might not fit in that case, and, being refurbished, I might get some lemons.

And then the Warrens of Awesome was a GIF macro thread.

I would be interested in a Warrens of Awesome RPG, sure. I never did a proper "tabletop" rpg with character sheets and dice and all that jazz before, it'd be cool to see how that goes.

I think /tg/ has an IRC server that includes dice-rolling bots. We could do an RPG there.

Set up one channel for the in-character roleplaying/action descriptions, and one for the dice rolls. i.e. on the OOC channel, you say "Attacking the goblin" and roll your hit/damage/etc, and then write up a description of the attack on the IC channel.

lol i didnt say amd 7770 was the top 1080 gaming, its techinically breaking that barrier on the low end but it gives you the option to go that high, plus its a generation higher than 550ti which pretty much sucked when it came out (but hey whatever works for you)

Again, I found a 6850 for $109.99.
Would that work better than a 7770?

Oddly enough there is this group of people who do Retsupuraes BETTER then the original team. They did do this video where they genuinly criticised a video with constructive criticism.

Yeah, see, the point of Retsupurae isn't constructive criticism. It's making fun of the stupid shit that people do.

Not the people themselves, mind you, just the silly gimmicks and bad setup.

Except probably PewDiePie. They genuinely hate PewDiePie. If you watched any of his videos, you probably would too (HERP DERP RAPE HERP DERP HEY GUYS, RAPE IS FUNNY DERP DERP.)

Dude's pretty much the Justin Bieber of LP's.

Biggest thing you should learn from this? Some people enjoy different LP styles. Do whatever comes natural to you; if you like to talk, talk. If you don't, then don't. You'll find people who bitch about your style no matter what you do.

If you are providing a service, it is a pretty reasonable suggestion to tailor the service to fit the wants of your audience. Doing whatever the hell you feel like will, one way or another, alienate the masses. Learn to compromise and take the suggestions of your viewers.

Remember that people are idiots, but they are idiots watching your videos, and without their views, you'd pretty much be LPing to yourself, which I think technically counts as a form of masturbation and who the hell posts videos of themselves masturbating on Youtube?

Over 3 year necrobumping is generally shunned upon.

Why make a new thread if there's a relevant old one that can be revived?

Throwing is not epic as it is bugged in df currently, in real world you cannot decapitate a person by throwing a sock.

I beg to differ.

Given the definition of "throw" to be "to propel or cast", it would be trivial to construct a device that could throw a sock with sufficient force to decapitate a person.

  • Predictably; try to always be commentating on what's going on: This is the most obvious but also most important point. When I was watching you were doing pretty well, but just remember it's better to have to prepare what to say than have nothing to say.

No.

There is nothing more I hate than wanting to watch the gameplay of a videogame and have someone chatting non-stop over it. It COMPLETELY ruins the video. Please, please please only comment when it is necessary to do so (explaining a trick, or if you're at a shop, or distributing skill points, etc), and avoid dumb gimmicks.

Additionally, go watch some Retsupuraes. It'll give you some ideas of what to do, and what NOT to do (slowbeef and diabeetus LOVE making fun of the stupid crap that some LPers do.)
