DF Suggestions / Re: Make vampires brave again
« on: December 05, 2015, 05:46:25 pm »
See, i've tried that, but they just move through other people since townies don't attack vampires any more, and all of the houses i'm genning have two doors, and waiting one hour all the time can get crashy and feels really gamey.

Hunting vampires in adventure mode has become extremely frustrating and difficult in adventure mode recently, not due to their fighting ability but because they no longer fight, they simply run off into the fields when they're called out, and with their speed and endurance, will almost always get away unless cornered. I suggest making vampires aggressive once they've been revealed, having them fight you rather than running away like little sissies.

Only found them randomly in tombs and mead hall junkpiles so far.

Well that's a bit silly, there should probably be an arts vendor for this purpose, yeah? Sells instruments and writing equipment, maybe new songs.

Yeah i always just saw the player as the head honcho of the fortress. makes more sense that way as you can't see underground layers before your dwarves can and the like.

Here's one that sums up most of my adventures ending 5 minutes in currently.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This happens alot. One guy will run off and tell everyone that i just stomped on some guy's foot and then they all talk about it and cause the game to crash.

Sidenote: Dear god it was hard to get that snip of the crash window, took me nearly 30 minutes to get the game to stop.

I had a really buff adventurer, very strong, but he had been for the most part disabled by lack of armour and weapons due to selling them for supplies. So i decided to give him a nice exit from the world.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Needless to say I took him for a few more adventures after that until he was killed by some dragon's breath.

Also, do you guys prefer the all white backgrounds or this slightly more refined stuff?

Another stupid comic that only I will find funny! yayyyyyy.

It recently came to my attention that necromancers spend their days running around scared of themselves.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

When I arrived the guy was going nuts crying and screaming, I eventually put him down.

DF 2014 in it's current state can and will die if your world is too large or it's history too long, go for a short history and a small world.

In many of my town in 40.02 there are wandering goblin gangs, they're usually friendly, but when I try to fast travel away they will ambush me and promptly kill me.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Yep.

DF Suggestions / Tone down the gossip, A.K.A. Town Criers
« on: July 12, 2014, 05:57:20 am »
Currently in 40.02 if you walk by a building with quite a few people in it, you will be interrupted by pages of text where the occupants talk about the times and whatnot, this is extremely annoying and slows the game way down in terms of getting from point A to B. I suggest that around a central location in a hamlet or town a building, like a well, would be generated, along with an NPC that is almost guaranteed to spawn there, like a lord inside of a castle. This town crier would be an easy way to pick up news and would make it easier to get around town without being assaulted by waves of gossip.

If you have any ideas on how this could be expanded please post them.

Woah, hang on, it's completely possible to become a vampire or werebeast, you can even become a zombie-like creature. For vampire you just get a peasant to give you a vamp quest, drink his blood, and tada! For werebeast, get one to bite you, most likely performed by having a quest given to you to slay a werebeast on the night of the full moon, then just letting him bite you and running off until he transforms back, it's quite simple. To become a zombie you need to go to an evil biome and step into some zombie mist or some weird thing like that. Hope this help you on your quest, noble adventurer.

My most recent " successful" fortress had about a month and a half freeze per year, so i neglected to build walls around my river until i noticed most traders just up and swimming through it. I designated some walls to complete the entire wall in early summer, hoping to get the last few bits done in winter for the short freeze. The dwarves neglected to build said walls until the last week-ish of the freeze, at which point all of my carpenters decide "hey lets go have fun skating on the melting ice" not a single tile of wall was created that winter, all of my carpenters drowned as they were washed downstream, the stream was contaminated due to an arm being blown off and the deaths caused a tantrum spiral to rage through my fort until I pulled the doomsday switch. I was doing so well too, but as they say...

LOSING IS FUN

especially when you drown all of your dwarves in your gladiator pit
