Likot Wars
Return of CoOP.

Our long lost CoOP is back with us and brought us some of his magnificent pics.

Also SUDDENLY the story splitted in TWO! Rejoice! One for Likot by CoOP and one for the rest(for Tok for now) by NewOPs.

Алекс, ты уж если перевод перед заливкой правишь, то новых ошибок хоть не делай. Ну и старые поправить мог бы.

А так молодец конечно, что заливаешь ибо мне влом. :)

Actually it is not dead. The story is alive. Just no one translates. May be some Urist McTranslator can do the thing.

DF Suggestions / Re: Why hasn't Toady...

Why should he focus on interface?

Lots of people are playing with that interface and they feel ok.

DF General Discussion / Re: Does Toady delegate?
« on: October 10, 2013, 09:22:18 am »
I think that DF is not windows based program. that means that all its interface parts arn't organized like in most of the games(from panels, menues, buttons that have their own event based funtionality which helps detect clicks, presses etc. easily). I think most of UI in DF is hardcoded and in such code it is very difficult to manage mouse events. The only UI element that has mouse pointer support is the main Fortress canvas(if there is canvas or something like that). I think integrating mouse support in other UI parts needs implementing all that stuff from the very begining.

But that is just my opinion.

Want to add a new command? Just add a small box in the appropriate submenu. Yes, the dev would have to then take 40 minutes to design a basic box sprite and add it into the code.
I'm software designer and I hate those who think that it is just 40 minutes to add new working button. It is 40 to add button and from 1 to infinite days to make it work (depends on functionality).

DF Suggestions / Re: Multiplayer
« on: October 09, 2013, 01:29:30 am »
Multiplayer game speed and sync is not main problem. It's a matter of good code and hardware. The real problem is combat system. It's heavy tied with player decisions  about every move and hit. It's totally turn-based and there is no way to tune it slightly to fit multiplayer. Just need to make new system from scratch. And I doubdt that Toady would do it, at least in the nearest future(10-15 years)

As I understand the main problem of multiplayer implementation is game pause.
May be if game has upper limit of game speed and that limit is low enough so players do not need to pause the game.
The rest is to make all fullscreen menues into smaller popup windows(like ones which alerts about FB but bigger), or place it into right part of the screen instead of minimap.

DF Suggestions / Re: Deeper rivers, oceans
« on: July 12, 2013, 11:41:04 pm »
My city stands on one of the major rivers and its depth variates between 1,5 and 16 meters with 500 to 600 meters wide. So i think it is rather deep.

DF Suggestions / Deeper rivers, oceans
« on: July 12, 2013, 02:16:29 am »
Not much time ago I've tried to make river bridge or river arc. It is a constrcution which lifts up part of the river so that dwarfes and caravans can pass under the river without goung under ground.

That was the first time I embarkes near major river (30 tiles wide) and I was awiting for hard work to pump otns of water. But it appears that the river is only 1 tile deep and it's not very interesting to work here.

Suggestion:

I think it would be great to make rivers deeper. For examle 1 tile of depth for each 3 tiles of width with some random variation.

Forgive me if that suggestion wasn't new or if it was my unlucky embark and rivers are deep now.

I think it'll be even better if arrangement touches bins (store similar items in bins), barrels, bags (arrange booze, seeds etc)

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Small question about armor

Your explanation is good enough for me.
Thank you. :)
But what about their numeral values of size and permit?

DF Gameplay Questions / Small question about armor
« on: February 09, 2013, 10:38:38 am »
In http://dwarffortresswiki.org, in the article about armor, i've found one phrase "Quiver and Backpack are also worn on upper body, counting towards layer permit size."

As I'm not native English speaker, I can't surely understand the second part in that sentence about layer permit. So can anyone explain this phrase for me or repharse it in some way?

DF Suggestions / Re: Dwarven journals
« on: February 07, 2013, 01:32:31 am »
I think it would be even better if migrants have some records in their journals about their life before they've arrived. It can be the way for you to know the latets world news.
But the problem is in vampires. They shouldn't mention their feedings in journals and, even worse, they should start new journals every 100 years.
