DF Suggestions / Orcs
« on: September 20, 2016, 09:17:32 am »
Before you say they can be modded in, I know that. But I wonder why Toady wouldn't add them as a canon species in DF. They're perfect for the game, warmongering, savage warlords destroying towns with such tenacity that they must be driven off to Outlands.

It'd be interesting to see how they interact with Goblins, as well.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Bogeymen in my home!
« on: September 05, 2016, 12:44:23 pm »
Hey guys, I was working on a nice little home for my peasant dude, and about three quarters away from completely finishing it Bogeymen came and shredded the guy up! How do I assert my camp as a site not to be influenced by the night? Do I have to put down something specific? Or do I have to just keep some people in my site?

You in biggest Orc Horde

You North in Mountains

Roll to WAAAAGH!!!

I made two adventurers with the name "Battleborn" and expected them to know one another. It kinda is weird to see them talk about "no family to speak of" when they are next to one another.

Hyboria returns! Now with A BETTER GAME SYSTEM THAN WHAT I DID PREVIOUSLY!!!

If you're from the first Hyboria adventure, you have priority. But this game will be less "power fantasy" and be more akin to "Simple Folk of Erioth".

+1 max HP every time you lose your maximum (or +10%, whichever is more favorable)
You can survive to -(2 + 20% max) below zero, but you will be unable to fight, and will be exceeding vulnerable to attacks
You can take a turn to rest and regain 1 HP or 20% max, whichever is more favorable
Fighting uses opposed attack rolls. The winner deals the difference in damage, minus armor soak, to the defender's HP.
Losing a round against an opponent of equal skill gives a 50% chance of a skill increase. Winning has a 16.67% chance of a skill increase.
Losing a round against an opponent of double skill gives two 50% chances of a skill increase. Winning has a 50% chance of a skill increase.
Losing a round against an opponent of half skill gives a 10% chance of a skill increase. Winning gives nothing.
Sparring gives half skill gain

Killing an opponent will earn you valor and honor. For now valor is what matters, and it is used to 'purchase' skills. Skill cost will be dependent upon GM judgement. Just ask about a skill you're interested in, and I'll let you know.

All noncombat skill rolls operate on a d6 scale (typical RTD rating), but you start off rolling 1d4 in combat. Rolling a 1 will give two 20% chances at skill gain, rolling your highest value will give one 20% chance

There will be a waitlist. Dead players can reapply to be on the waitlist the turn after their death.

DF Suggestions / Choose your inventory in Adventure mode
« on: February 28, 2015, 03:19:44 pm »
You know how in FORT MODE you can customize what you bring to your settlement? Why not the same with Adv Mode? Let's say a peasant has a small amount of points, and the demigod has a lot. They can then trade in and out certain supplies. Maybe one could get rid of all those unnecessary clothes for more food, or that shitty copper dagger and spear for a nicer weapon? It wouldn't be allowed for outsiders, and certain Civs would have different materials and items.

Roll To Dodge / Hyboria RTD
« on: February 14, 2015, 03:41:23 pm »
Hyboria RTD

"Know, O Prince, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the rise of the Sons of Aryas, there was an Age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars - Nemedia, Ophir, Brythunia, Hyperborea, Zamora with its dark-haired women and towers of spider-haunted mystery, Zingara with its chivalry, Koth that bordered the pastoral lands of Shem, Stygia with its shadow-guarded tombs, Hyrkania whose riders wore steel and silk and gold.  But the proudest kingdom of the world was Aquilonia, reigning supreme in the dreaming west.
Hither came Conan the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the earth under his sandled feet."
- The Nemedian Chronicles

Welcome to Hyboria RTD! Set in the land of Conan the Cimmerian, you may travel wherever you may wish to go! We shall begin in Aquilonia, and the rest is up to you! This is set during the first Conan film, just to keep things simple. There are no classes, you choose a weapon and your stats, and you join your companions.

Rolls are standard D6 rules.

1-You raise you two handed sword to strike, and fall under its weight!
2-You swing your two handed sword, but you miss the foe!
3-You swing your two handed sword, and it is parried!
4-You nick your foe with the sword, he bleeds!
5-You slash horizontally at your foe, decapitating him clean!
(Nat)6-You slice down at the poor soul, and you nearly slash him in half! But now, your sword is stuck!
(Modified)6- You slash the fool In half, and kill another nearby foe!
7+- You decapitate one foe, and your force swing slashes at two more nearby foes, killing them!

Curses / The Chassis of a Character
« on: January 08, 2015, 01:09:56 pm »
Hey guys!

So I've been learning C# to make an RPG related to Orc slaying.

I love what Dwarf Fortress and LCS do for damage, being realistic with hitting certain body parts has a different effect and potency to the injured. What I've seen from Raws is:

[Creature]
[Body parts creature has] (I assume they are their own class to be used with inheritance)

Then in the Body parts it would be

[Arm]
[skin]
[muscle]
[Vein] ---> [HAS BLOOD]
[Bone]

[Blood]

[Is health]

Is that how it works? I'm not really sure what to do, and although this makes sense to me, I'm not sure how to implement it.
