Dear, Urist McSurgeon,

Remember that siege we had a few months ago, and how our fearless soldiers went forth to end it? Remember our heavy casualties, despite of our victory? Remember why you are the Surgeon? START DOING YOUR JOB AND CARE FOR THE FEW SOLDIERS STILL ALIVE! You have the equipment, and skill, and job order!

Signed, your loving, great, mighty, amazing overseer, Nidilap

P.S., I installed a well in the hospital. Go nuts.

It is said in whispered legends that if an elephant were to taste Dwarven blood, it would lust for it until it died. Before that, the dwarves started to mine a huge hole near their homes. Elephants wanted to see if they were peaceful, some stupid dwarf, or dog, hit one and BAM. Dwarves were seen as invaders, not neighbors.

I once had a fort with an army of 15 recruits, and they've been training for a month or so. I decided to test them out on a human caravan. 2 minutes later my 32 dwarf fort was turned into a 2 dwarf war zone. Nothing survived. Except the human caravan. They left unsatisfyed.

What equipment did they have?

Silver shortswords. And leather armor. This was my first military...

I probably should not ask for stuff made out of stuff we don't have. Besides, I have very important things to do for the fortress.

Said no noble. Ever.

Isn't there a cap? And I don't think the can leave their sites.

I'm having HUGE difficulty with butchering. Usually I concentrate on eggs or vegetation, but I decided to try out a hunter. How do you get the butcher to kill an animal killed by hunter??

How many mines could a miner dwarf mine if a miner dwarf could mine mines?

Because it is so lustrous and pretty.

Where is the blacksmith?!

It's not. You're just giving us dwarfarrhea of the mouth

Why can't dwarves make booze out of milk?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: "I love this game" moments

Although goofy funny stuff is great, this game has done something very few games have ever done for me. Incite emotions for NPCs. Once, I had an elf bowman travel to a little town far in the north. I found an Axeman and Macewoman, and got them to join me. We were tasked by the townsfolk to slay a Roc, a mega bird for you newbs. When we found it, we battled for an entire day. The Axeman lopped off one of its hands, but it bit him in half. The Macewoman was slammed into the ground, skidding furiously. I snuck away to collect some arrows that missed, and slept to dawn. I eventually shot the Roc in the wing, making it crash and give into pain. I slit it's throat, and gave an honorable burial to my fallen comrades. When I returned, I talked to several children in one house, and asked about their family. The warriors were their parents. I felt so awful, I adopted them and retired the elf, never to play him again.

I love this game.

Well, if we were invaded by terrorists here in _______, you'd run from the attackers too.

How is size relative to a tile? We have these itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot kobolds on one tile, but hither comes the elder dragon, ready to burn and pillage the earth of its wealth, in the exact sized fucking tile. Why?!

942
Because the fort is a site. Bogeymen don't spawn in sites, or oceans or mountains.

Why don't dwarves play their instruments? I bet they'd be great Rock musicians

Hehe, Rock.

Dwarves hop around with both feet in the sock.

Why do dwarves love waterfalls, but hate steam from water and magma?

Wait till next Christmas, and get it to kill some Christmas elves.

Dwarves are about structure, not impact. That's why they are stout, but not... Constituted.

Why can't dwarves eat rock? That'd be great for Food stockpiles and the loose stone everywhere.
