Meanwhile, in an entirely intrigue-less scene, the historian contents himself by reading his newly purchased books in a quiet corner he found for himself. Occasionally he would take a drink from something in an animal skin, but otherwise seemed absorbed in his reading.

He idly wondered how the others were before noticing an interesting divergence in one of the pentacles he was familiar with, investigating further.

Aur gives the javelin back to his brother Kerr. "No, you'll need it more than I can. I gotta stay focused or they might slip past me, just make sure none stay for long, yeah Kerr? Heh, these guys won't even get close enough to me to strike, just watch. I know a thing or two about area control." He gave his brother a big smile as he went back to manning the front lines.

HOLD THE LIIIIIIIIIIIINE

588
Should probably ask first, although I think I can: Can Aur both hold the line and attack?

Fezz hmms and haws about the various tomes he found, before eventually settling on both Shine and Lightning, buying both of them with his share.

Content with his purchases, the historian sequestered the tomes away in the many pouches under his cloak and moved back onto the streets.

"Simple enough then." The knight nodded back, a renewed vigor in his stance.

"So what I'm understanding is that if we break their strongest then they'll lose their morale. If they're smart enough to bother with this, they probably understand the concept. Sounds simple enough."

"Gotta admit, I expected more 'holding back the horde with all I had' instead of 'watching them watch me watch them watching me'."

"Rather smart for beasts and monsters really. Almost like they can think." The knight hmm'ed at this, wondering this while he HELD THE LIIIIIIIINE.

Fezz thanked them for their time and went back off to look at the various shops of note.

594
Fezz took the time to investigate the various shops and quiz some of the less-drunk civilians about what the hubbub was about.

595
"I... Would not approve of that, yes. Not exactly unheard of historically, but that doesn't make it better frankly." Fezz took a step closer to Grifen, but he didn't seem to take the suggestion from Candy seriously. He moved the subject forward.

"Always nice to see happy moments in a world flung into chaos. Always a good thing to cherish those whenever one can. But we probably shouldn't ignore the world for much longer. Although honestly, I'd of figured we'd have gotten a message or something by now, so there's no harm in waiting a bit longer. Hopefully Frya didn't forget about us."

596
Fezz had heartily agreed to being his brother's best man, although now he was fretting as he was trying to think of some way to contribute. The best he could figure out was trying to clear an area as best he could for the spot to happen.

597
"Yes and no. Archaeology isn't a fast-paced science, I'm afraid. I've learned that the place is one of vast and amazing potential to teach us about a perspective into time that we might not have had for many, many years. To actually learn that however, I'd probably need a few months alone, tools, references, and possibly a few other scholars to compare and contrast. So nothing immediately tangible, but I've got that site's location marked for future investigations if... Once this all blows over." The historian drank the last of the tea from the cup as he finished. It was quite good.

"Thank you again for the tea, Grifen."

598
"Not sure, wasn't able to test it. Would be intriguing to attempt though. Also, sure! Not sure what would happen if someone who doesn't use magic touches it. You might not even feel anything at all." The historian held out the shard for Sheila to grab, holding it by the cord.

"As for testing magic on you while you hold it, I'd... Rather not. Couldn't anyhow."

599
"Ah, thank you!" The scholar accepted the tea happily and drank deep before speaking again.

"Changing her hair color? To what? Black or white? Those are the easiest I know of to dye at least. ...I think? Not really my expertise."

He was drawn out of the topic of hair by Sheila, who looked at the black shard. "Oh! This is something I found in the ruins. Quite interesting, powerful magic. As to what it is, without references or books I'm afraid I'm limited on what exactly it is. From my investigations though, it is a black shard that is amazingly sturdy and very reactive to magic. It acts as a sort of... Sponge, I suppose? Draws it into itself but from there I don't know what happens."

"Reason why I'm not touching it anymore. Not dangerous, but it tends to be rather... Muddling, to those who use magic."

Fezz had spent the night prior investigating the black shard to the best he could and didn't get much sleep during the night, but regardless to that he seemed very awake this morning as he plopped down with the others around the tea kettle. The black shard was out and visible, but it was notably attached to a swiftly-tied length of cord and the historian kept it a healthy distance from himself. Contrasting to his prior contact with the stone, he seemed aware and well.

"Morning everyone. Did I miss anything?"
