DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / (Q) Retreat Button!?

Well... just had a very early ambush with no military to help so i tried to get all my dwarfs to go INSIDE the fort rather than chopping trees or shearing pigs or whatever they do but i couldnt get them to move. I made a burrow in the fort and put everyone in it but only like 1/4 of them went to it. Is there an easier way to get everyone to go inside?

Hey, I recently made a new fort in a "Cold" environment and the river is frozen, its the middle of summer and it's still frozen. How do i unfreeze it?

So i've decided to create a DF version of WWE by making an arena for civillians to fight captured prisoners and animals or whatever else will fight back  but i want it to all be done unarmed and to start i want to have someone wrestle some of those goblin hammerman i caughh in that failed siege (they were all killed by my dog army) but i want to disarm them first. How might i go about doing that?

Cor blimey i've barely learned the basics yet i think i will just make 3 exclusive manual pumpers for now but thanks guys i will look back at this thread if i ever decide to go beyond the basics of this rediculously complex (to idiots like me) game =)

Is there any way to make water go up? as in if i have a channel from a river to my fort but there is an upward hill in the way can i make it go up the hill?

oh no we dont actually get water from the reservoir, there is like a spiral systen and a drinking platform just where the water enters the fort.

actually i set it up so that between the reservoir and the rest of the fort is the barracks so take that kobolb scum!
