As far as I know, breeding is extremely simple right now.  boy + girl = baby of regular baby of random sex.

The arrows make it to the siege operator even if he's behind the ballista.  One of mine died that way.

I'm pretty sure they don't claim studies or dining rooms.  At least I've never seen a noble claim either.

I've noticed that my dwarves rarely/won't store stuff in racks until I turn them into armories/barracks.

230
Or set up a room with weapon racks nearby.  Each rack holds 1 arrow, I think.

Well, I've done some support work in the middle of the ocean, and if its the same on a lake, you only need two pumps per tile.  Its best to build them in a strip I think.  I don't quite remember everything I did =

designation menu, remove construction

No, he's got the order right.  Its left, right, top, bottom.  After that come the diagonals, and I really haven't paid much attention to those.

weapon traps don't need to be worked on unless they get stuck on chunks of meat & bone.

235
Just wait until some training marksdwarf uses it for target practice =D

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Are seige weapons useful?

They actually target enemies when they shoot.  They're just not very accurate weapons unless they're built with high quality parts.

They're pretty useful.  You can maim and kill a bunch of enemies with only a few good shots.  Not to mention its pretty hard to kill dragons without them (though not impossible without many casualties if you know the trick).  Just make sure you don't have your dwarves on the line of fire for the ballistas.  They will lose their arms and legs.

Well then, you obviously have to build up an army and patrol the road for the caravans.

Have half the population be soldiers instead of farmers =P

Well, they do help with the lever pulling and harvesting.

Not to mention they're great goblin fodder =P

I'm pretty sure it just makes it hit with all weapons at once.  Remember, the weapons do jam on the bodies of their victims, so they need to be cleared after every kill.

If dragons are anything like last version, they're much easier to kill in close combat than with ranged weaponry.
