You do know that saves from any 0.31 version are compatible with any other 0.31 version? You just need to paste the raws of the one version you copied to over the raws in the save-file.

Ah.... A Successful test fire.

Unfortunately my cages are not magma safe, so That means I need to make a ton more...

but on the plus side everything else worked perfectly, all I need to do now is work out the long reset time due to magma evaporation being a pain.
Use grates instead of a floor. There'll be less magma that needs to evaporate and so the trap will be ready a lot quicker.

You've got magma, so I advise using that instead of the exploit-y atom smasher. Wooden things will burn in it, and rock items will be destroyed as long as they aren't magma-safe. If you've got no mods going on, that would only be bauxite items that would survive the magma. As for metal items, steel, iron, nickel, nickel silver, pig iron, platinum and adamantine are all magma-safe. All other metals will melt. The rocks and metals will leave a glob, but that should disappear when the season changes.

If you have enough wood, you can melt the hammerdwarf's gear to make a pick.
The problem is, I had a choice:

Either steel battle gear or anvil. Yeah :P

But I have 30 logs, so I will make a hovel + beds + storage and somehow survive it. Does someone knows if distance from mountain home counts? Because I'm literally on the other side of the world.
Still doable, if harder. You should be able to get 4 bars and make an anvil, but that would really cut into your armor.
How would you go about making an anvil without a forge?

There's the obvious solution, and there's the solution where you arm each and every dwarf in full ☼steel armour☼ with a ☼steel battleaxe☼, or adamantine if you've go it,  in your fort to go kick some invader ass. Or, if you've breached HFS, send them in through there.

Honestly, with underground plants being guarenteed in this version, I'm never really short on wood, while it was a fairly frequent problem before.
Mostly guaranteed. If you have genned a world with no water in the caverns, there will be no underground flora/fungi.
