a stealthed wereopposum showed up after he crossed my security bridge, meaning I can't lockdown my fort for safety.

I'll admit, this is the first time I ever thought a fucking opposum would be terrifying.

stealthed werebeasts are the new source of FUN now. case and point, a wereopposum sneaked its way into my fort and was discovered only after it crossed my lockdown bridge. The beast then proceeded to devastate my fort, leaving one dwarf dead and two infected in the first year.

the only thing worse is probably werecats since they come with legendary climber.

I set up the double slit according to the wiki, but I couldn't build walls due to dangerous terrain. It keeps getting suspended every time I try to build there.

I've also tried the cave-in method, which worked to an extent. but when I channeled the aquifer tile it filled with water again.

for the 40.08 release, I decided to embark on an aquifer for the first time ever. I've read up on the double slit method but still don't fully understand it.

This post is actually my second time attempting to crack the aquifer. the first time I tried to cave in through it but I stupidly dug out the tiles above the aquifer so when it caved in it didn't destroy it. to add insult to injury, all of my miner drowned during the chaos.

hopefully this time will be different.

I seem to find only two cavern levels, rather than three cavern level like 0.34. maybe caverns have been changed a little bit.

I think if you atomsmash them somewhere out of sight, then nobody would ever know that they died and only think they've gone missing, avoid the massive unhappiness boost.

alternatively, kill them right after they're born. considerably more difficult, but the happiness resulting from having a child should counteract the unhappiness from their child dying.

I once found a marble layer that was only 1 z lvl deep on the second cavern level. The only marble there were stalactites as the layer above was gabbro and the layer beneath was orthoclase.

Usually I get 3-4 z lvls worth of flux though.

I trade them masterwork giant steel axe blades. Bartering is always against my favour, seeing as the only thing worth buying are their (poorly made) booze and exotic animals. with the new update, I don't see seeds from them anymore.

Then again, I have so many masterwork axe blades that the elves actually provide me good service by getting rid of them.

You should invest in crippled dwarves. A silver (or better yet, platinum) crutch is no joke in the hands of a misc. user master.
