I thought this was hilarious.

I got carried away with the decorations for my arena. the bottom floor was originally only going to have the face of armok, but after I added a side chamber as a dragon pasture, I noticed it looked like an arm. Now I have a semi finished chibi armok for my arena, with tiny arms and a cute little pickaxe.

I actually had to Google what a dimetrodon is. I am both surprised and impressed that Toady put this in the game.

EDIT: checked back on the burning beast and the wall next to it has a warm stone warning on it. I'm even more impressed now.

I've been trying to build a arena. My dwarves have almost finished digging the pit and my main problem is getting rid of all the leftover stone.

Some behavioral tags seem to affect pet behavior.  If I recall correctly, LARGE_PREDATORs will regularly attack enemies even if they aren't trained, as will animals that are PRONE_TO_RAGE.  Most others will flee unless cornered, but sometimes their pathing might get mixed up (especially in underground tunnels).

I think LIKES_FIGHTING also does that.

I have an army of dragons. But they aren't very effective against goblins so I use giant cave spiders instead.

Mind if I sig this?

sure. go wild.

I also have a bunch of cave crocodiles and they attack goblins and trolls on sight. I didn't give them the [TRAINABLE] tag so they aren't war trained. I've found these guys to be way more effective than grizzly bears or lions so I think I should use them as backup instead.

the only way you can stop them is by forbiding the equipment, or go to orders (o) and forbid other death items.

if dwarves with late medival technology can curbstomp demons, I'm pretty sure we can do the same.

I've been trying to build a 4 floor arena and before I finished channeling the 1st floor, I've already had 5 cave ins, in which two legendary miners got horribly injured. one can't walk due to a broken leg and the other can't grasp due to breaking both arms.

great practice for the hospital though.

you clearly have not seen my fort. one of my hammerdwarves came into this fort completely fine and immediately got his right arm ripped off by a giant thrips.

I spent quite a bit of time designing a cave in trap for the 2nd cavern, and a forgotten beast showed up on the 1st cavern level. great.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: How to Bury a Dead Axe Lord in a Cage?
« on: June 19, 2014, 07:19:23 am »
before he died, you could have constructed the cage with the axe lord in it and then let him out by selecting the cage with q and then press enter on the axe lord.

this also gives him a massive happiness boost once he's freed.

hindsight is 20/20 though.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Age of Goblins

goblins don't die of old age and breed just as fast as your dwarves. plus they kidnap other creatures and assimilate them into their society.
