I may be wrong because I haven't refreshed myself on the lore of kitsunes and such but it's more like they were special from the start with kitsunes. Nekomata are really really old cats if I remember right. And I need to sleep so burn me at the stake now if you must.

Since some of them such as gashadokuro resemble being such as Null and Guerilla Warfare Units more than proper demons considering their nature and composition.Let's say no so demons don't become even more complicated.
Also, it would kind of make sense for me to do stuff with Youkai since I actually had one as a character.
