Description: She stands at about 5'4", though her slightly hunkered posture makes her appear smaller. Her thin blonde hair forms long wisps around her lithe frame, and helps to mask the myriad of small scars on her pale skin. Despite her frequently broken skin, her simple dress is always meticulously cared for.
Backstory: Auri grew up on the streets of Mauville City, one of the residents left behind by new advances in technology. Her eccentric and quiet nature, as well as a general aversion to strangers, kept her from getting help available to so many others. After spending much of her childhood evading those who would help her, Auri left Mauville and worked her way around the region, until she found herself in Littleroot town, whose pace was more in line with that of the troubled girl, and in which she found a person she could identify with and relate too.
Preferred type: Primarily Fairy, somewhat Grass
Starter: Flabébé (Blue flower)

kj, I hope this isn't too dark for your intended aesthetic. I don't plan to play her in a way that emphasizes that, she's just a character I want to learn more about in a different situation, and she doesn't bring up her past much at all anyway.

I also tried to leave the backstory vague enough that it's not contingent upon both ATH and I getting in, so there's no pressure to pair characters together.

Also, I'd like to write her Flabébé into her backstory if we're assumed to already have our starters, otherwise she'd happily pick Flabébé out of any lineup. Also, not wholly committed to that color, just specified it to provide as much info as possible.

I'm more than willing to rewrite anything you consider at odds with the game you have planned.

ATH, where is your character from? Makes a difference for my backstory. Should I assume the Professor is in Littleroot in this universe, or is only the general geography of everything constant?

Well... not to sound like a tool, but I do liek mudkips.

Mudkips are indeed awesome. Main reason I suggested the other options (to which I added Roggenrola) is because I wanted my character to be from either Unova or Kalos.

Do Megas count as a third evolution?

Another question: Are there Pokémon from regions beyond Generation 3? If yes, can characters be from those regions?

Mmh, not so "dark" to me, more like realistic (and a little bit more "mature" than the anime). The manga universe isn't a crapsack world at all, and deals with many interesting concepts.
The main part that may appears dark to some would come from the first "season", the one that dealt with Red/Blue/Yellow, as some Pokémon died on screen (they were portrayed as mindless mooks though). One Arbok got cleaved horizontally, and a duo of Magmar got frozen and shattered.
But in following seasons, the series took a less "dark" tone, yet still keeping the realistic feel. Well, to me at least.
You should give it a try, it's a really interesting read !
edit: So no, it's not dark at all. It's great. No crapsack dark edgy world.
