I'm behind a system that works.
Elf's system, maybe, but I'd reduce the die size to something like 20 or 30. Then, luck and attributes have roughly equal import.
Bah, luck should never have an equal share.

Oh since it was brought up, I like to use vague backstories so I can fill it in as I become more certain about the setting and what would be believable.
