And there are plenty of weapons that work pretty well at penetrating armor that also kill more efficiently. Well, not in their universe of course, because apparently everyone decided that relying entirely on weapons that can be deflected was a great idea and should be the cornerstone of all combat.

Instead of things like mustard gas, IEDs and proper artillery.

Too be fair, light sabers aren't really something you can give people that aren't jedi because they don't have the reaction times to properly use them. Like in the new movie you can see that in action. Only reason Jedi are as effective as they are is that they have literal magic on their side to the point that swords are the only way to make it fair. Also, the actual guns are plenty deadly in the universe, you just never see them nail a protagonist in the head because it's not that kind of movie.

"I'm opting out as well."

Ian nods and looks at her expectantly. He takes another bite. He's down to nearly half of his share.

"Play what?"

"Basically, I ask you a question, then you ask me a question and we continue until we've both hit twenty questions."

Eirika wonders if Ian was going to say anything else.

He speaks after a few more moments.
"So, how are you liking the pants?"

"..No.."

Ian nods again and takes another bite. After swallowing that he turns back to Eirika.
"Anything you'd like to see or do, just in general?"

Ian swallows and then speaks.
"So, did you have any friends back on your world?"

Ian enters, and he does indeed have two halves of a sandwich.
