Kyle was confused. To be exact he didn't know why he woke up holding his armor. It was a good set of equipment to be sure, but he didn't have deep emotional connection to it. Yes, the helmet shined like a star when it was in the sun but that was more respect for his position than anything else. Being in the royal guard meant many things but all but three of them are meaningless. The three that aren't are very important however. First, you get a snazzy suit of a scale armor with an animal that is decided by your superiors. Kyle's armor had an image of a bat on it. Sometimes he thinks his superiors wanted to dick with him when they assigned him a bat. The second big perk was the fact you get a sword and side arm of your choice. Kyle's weapons were a dagger and a rapier. The final perk is that it's a hit with the ladies.
"Time to get up I suppose."
Kyle says moving his armor to the side carefully and getting up. He took of his sleeping clothes revealing a body sculpted by the strict training regimen the royal guard is faced with making them the all the attractive people associated with the guard. Never say the king doesn't care about appearances.
Kyle pulls on his torso armor, then the pauldrons, and lastly the actual arms on his armor. Then he moves onto the legs and greaves. And finally, he puts on his helmet.
He has the worst schedule a guard could get in the castle. First he has to guard the queen when she has a healer getting a look at her, no doubt she'll be moaning and bitching, and then he got night duty for the kings party. Oh well, could be the fire swamps.
On that cheery note Kyle leaves his room to eat and then report for duty at the queens chambers.
