Bio: Where Kate came from or why she was found laying on the ground in the Badlands at the age of 5 is a mystery she’ll likely never tell anyone, not even her adoptive father Kyle. Or at least if she did tell him he’s a lot better at hiding secrets than you’d expect. Still, everyday after he brought him aboard his ship, he spent a significant amount of his time trying to be a good father to the girl. He made sure she read as much as possible, hoping she’d be smarter than himself. Kate of course didn’t care much for it to start but she had to admit that the pride on his face when she read on her own did make her feel good. Kyle also made sure she had more than enough to eat, going through the trouble of taking up cooking himself to make sure that she got to eat more than enough of her fill, and to make sure everything she had was delicious. It was one the one part of Kyle’s day that would never change no matter what other plans he had, to eat dinner with Kate. Kate didn’t think too much about it but she did enjoy having a time to talk to her dad without interruption every day. He made sure that the security on his quarters was tightened up so that even he would have trouble getting through… Well, that didn’t work out but it was significantly safer for the girl. Not that she really understood, she didn’t like having to stay locked up when Kyle was out “Dealing with a problem” as he would say. It didn’t take a lot for her to figure out what he was actually doing. She resented how he coddled her, so much that by the age of ten she had finally convinced him to start training her to fight as well. (It had been the first time in years that he actually resisted her giving him the puppy dog eyes.) She took to fighting with a surprising amount of glee and proficiency. So much so that once he was assured she could take care of herself, Kyle finally allowed her to take a job of her own in one of the more major port towns on the Ixion coast on the condition she’d come back to port once a year to check in. Finally free from the supervision of her adoptive father Kate eventually took a job as crew member on a pirate ship. To put it simply, she got a reputation as a hellion both within the crew and in port, using a fighting technique she came up with herself to lower her opponent’s guard while avoid attacks with proficiency. She didn’t forget her promise though and still met up with her father every year. The look of worry he gave her as she gained scars honestly cut her deeper than any sword, but she shook it off. The past year she came back to Kyle with a request, she had heard of a treasure near Auroch and wanted in. Kyle didn’t even hesitate, taking her to the city so she could join the search.
